I started out hesitant, but the show was enjoyable for the most part so I don't regret starting it. Unfortunately, it got aggressively boring in the final quarter. FL spent so much time on her lines that I had to watch at 2x speed cos slow talking is something I cannot stand. Tbh she made each episode feel 3 hrs long which also made me start hating the show and I did not enjoy that at all. I'll also add that for a writer, FL is a terrible communicator and that was actually unforgivable to me.
I liked Woo Soo Ji the most and actually empathised with Ho Rang a lot. It's a nice drama but I didn't have the best time watching it. I dropped it at ep 15 because I just couldn't justify putting myself through any more of it.
I had really high hopes for this but honestly, FL isn't doing it for me. I find the character extremely annoying and quite unprofessional. I've been expecting better cos I read so many positive comments but every episode is so cringey that I end up watching at double speed. The only characters I actually like after 5 eps are Camellia and FL's assistant. At least Camellia seems to have some depth even if she's just the SFL, unlike Thicha who's just one note. I might force myself to finish this cos I'm a completist but I don't have any expectations that my opinion will change for the better.
I'm really only here for Yoo Dong Man. I don't know why, but I just find Kang Sun Ho quite annoying to watch and I end up skipping a lot of his scenes. I thought this would've changed by now but 8 eps in, I still can't stand the character.
The show is fun and interesting for me cos of Dong Man and his interactions with everyone.
I just feel like the issue of abuse was used for dramatic effect cos the show didn't handle it in any meaningful way and that annoys me. If you're going to make a show about the dark side of the industry then go all the way. The end felt very abrupt to me because of that.
Nah but if the roles were reversed and it was ML stalking and harassing FL like this and then guilting her into a trip she didn't want to go on after they broke up, everyone would be calling him out as a creep. Lol.
Since when does design revision become a cost engineer job??? Some of the issues are laughable really. How come…
Lol. The cannons thing didn't matter when the other guy was in charge so I guess that's why they didn't address it. I found the whole thing ridiculous but entertaining, especially when Xia Ming tried to bribe them to turn the cannons
Soo Hyun is the queen of being where she's not supposed to be, but honestly her death felt unnecessary to me. Did the shooter not know who he was supposed to kill? It's not like she took a bullet for someone, which was what I thought would happen. I wonder what she found out from the guy who used to work at the church. I'm not a fan of fridging female characters so the man can have some motivation so as much as Soo Hyun annoyed me sometimes, I could never wish for her death. She was good for Ga On.
I really enjoyed this drama but at a point I got really tired FL being unable to emote when it wasn't about crying or laughing. She had the same blank expression 90% of the time and it got really uncomfortable to watch so I'd end up skipping some of her scenes.
The story was adorable. I liked the perpetual optimism and fighting spirit of Lu Zheng An. It was really refreshing.
I have to agree that slow burn romances when done well are truly superior. Some of my favorite couples outside the ones you already mentioned:
1. Kim Hae Kyung & Woo Do Hee - Dinner Mate 2. Goo Ra Ra & Sun Woo Joon - Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol 3. Hong Ji Ah & Oh In Beom - Sell Your Haunted House 4. Shin Woo Yeo & Lee Dam - My Roommate Is A Gumiho 5. Cha Hyun & Sul Ji Hwan - Search: WWW
It's not a KDrama but I want to give an honorable mention to A Tale of Thousand Stars too.
Building estimators/cost engineers on both Douban and Zhihu are expressing disappointments with the show's representation…
I'm curious about which aspects of the profession they feel aren't properly represented. Of course, it's not a documentary so it won't be too accurate but as someone who also works in construction I think this shows a lot of the political side of the profession quite accurately. I've been in some of the positions FL has been in as well and I've been chuckling to myself while watching the show. It may be different in different countries but it resonates with me so I'm enjoying it for now.
I agree that most female villains are so poorly written and trope-heavy that the audience inevitably ends up hating them. In spite of this though, I've seen some people hate female villains who have the same backgrounds as male villains such as having an emotionally scarred past. Things that make people sympathise with male villains somehow do not translate when it's a woman involved e.g. the female villains in The Devil Judge and Lover or Stranger. It stood out to me particularly while experiencing Lover or Stranger cos the male lead there was undoubtedly a villain by any definition but people still stood up for him and cast down the female villain who was largely a victim of circumstance making poor choices.
Personally, I enjoy a well rounded character no matter their gender and villains are usually more interesting when they are well done which is why we love to hate them. We definitely need female villains to be better written and for all these tropes (irrational jealousy, throwing away one's professional integrity for a man, irrational possessiveness over a man that isn't interested, basically having their entire personality revolve around a man) to be retired once and for all, but people also have a very strange, negative reaction to beautiful women just doing things in media.
TK's moment of revelation and the confession that followed were simply brilliant. This series hits one high note…
I do feel like Shin Woo is the anti-So Hee so the message could also be "how to love and support the person you love without feeling entitled to them". I'm Team Tae Kyung so whatever happens in the end, I'll be happy as long as he's happy, but I don't feel like Shin Woo has to end up with WTK just because he tried.
I'm glad that the first episode shows that their friendship will survive this love triangle so I'm just looking forward to everyone being in a good place in the end.
I do agree with Da On learning and growing from this experience but his struggles are the same struggles Shin Woo went through when he first came out so I understand his reactions. Shin Woo is just in a better place when it comes to handling peer pressure and being outed.
The fact that there's just a random ghost character roaming through this show, when there has never been any indication of a supernatural theme in the drama, just kills me every week. What on earth was this writer smoking when they came up with this????
Im so disappointed in this drama they really did my girl Qianyi dirty I want to kill whoever write this damn script.…
They mentioned Xiaodong being a thief multiple times. They even talk about the passport more than once, including the flashback of her stealing it. She may not have been perfect but that doesn't mean she deserved to be kidnapped by Youze while he tried to brainwash her into a version of his girlfriend who wouldn't leave him. I agree that they did Qianyi dirty but Xiaodong is also a victim. She was just a petty thief who got caught in Youze's obsession, just like Qianyi did.
I feel so bad for Qianyi cos she deserved more than this after everything that happened to her, but she also made choices that led her down a very bad path as soon as she got back to China. She should've paid off Xiaodong's father and refused to be involved with him anymore, and then tried to find some new normal in her life. The writers did her dirty for putting her through hell and then making her a villain who loses everything in the end.
Youze deserves to go to jail for a very long time and to be alone for the rest of his life imo. I wish Xiaodong could get her face back cos this living as Qianyi's doppelganger forever is kind of a curse to me.
If this show doesn't get to the part where Youze goes to jail soon, I'm gonna be mad. I do not like that Xiaodong is still attached to her kidnapper when she needs to break free.
I'm not picking a side re Xiaodong and Qianyi cos they've both been wronged by one man's obsessive & irrational behaviour. They're not perfect but they didn't deserve what happened to them at all.

All the women in this show deserved better tbh.
