such an happy inspiring drama, I loved it from the beginning to the end. I guess I loved the lack of passion, the simplicity, the optimism... which might have been boring for others was really what makes me happy, watching this drama. It gives out this happiness feeling, without cliche and heart-wrenching one true love. Like you can be happy, with the little pleasures in life, with cleaning your house, being with your friends and smiling under the rain. No chaebol money and success, no miracles, just good old life.
Plus, the soundtrack was out of the world. Every OST was incredible.
Wow. The whole bash-the-female-praise-the-male trend has bothered me for a long time, so it's so nice to see someone…
Oh, that's right I read too that many criticized her acting in W, I found her great in it, though.
Right ! That was in You're all Surrounded ^^ I loved this drama ! And Go Ah Ra was good in it too.
Personnally, there is only one thing that make me really dislike a character, male or female, and this is perfection, or over-romanticizing. Like thousand suitors or a harem, and the character is talented in everything, and everybody love him/her... I can't sympathize with someone this perfect, it's just annoys me to no end. XD
Wow. The whole bash-the-female-praise-the-male trend has bothered me for a long time, so it's so nice to see someone…
I'm happy to see that so many people noticed the same double-standard than me, I was starting to feel paranoid ^^
I think the only drama that I saw her in is Black, I feel like I've seen her somewhere else but I can't remember ^^. I didn't like her role in Black, but it wasn't due to her acting. What infuriates me is how easy people got mixed up characters and acting abilities, like... how is it related ? Awesome characters that we like can be portrayed poorly and annoying characters that we dislike can be well portrayed, that's two separated matters.
That being said, it also seems that it's really difficult for a female character to be worthy enough by the likes of drama fans. The girls can't be too mean nor too nice, too bitter nor too naive, too independant nor too needy.
Generally, I agree, this is Go Ara`s best performance so far. However, the motivation of justice and defense of…
You don't think actors decide when to cry and how their characters are supposed to react, do you ? There is a script, and they follow it. Go Ah Ra only acted the way the writters told her to do. Maybe she suggested some details but that's not her job to decide of things like that.
It was the story the writters decided to tell, a compassionate emotional judge who learns the job. If you didn't like that, that's totally fine, we all got our ideas about justice, and if you would have prefer less crying, I understand it too, but it's not Go Ah Ra's fault, you just watched the wrong drama for you because well, without Oh Reum, that would have been a totally different story. So just, no need to say Go Ah Ra's acting is bad if you only didn't like the character, that's beside the point.
Aside from the teenager side, the two characters -from GG79 and this one- are very different ^^ Well, for me, at least.
That's why I don't think it's due to her acting. It is, however, true that Da Young behaves like a teenager, but very insecure and shy, and I don't think it's Bona's fault. It is just how the character is supposed to be, at this point of the drama. She doesn't seem to have a family around to help her, she lost her father that she loved very much and she has so much debts that her whole life resolves around it. I never experienced something like that so I can only imagine, but it must be very difficult being happy and confident while living like this. That's why, for me, the writing of this drama is on point, it's very realistic and I really like it.
I am really rooting for her, to get past this sad period of life and, like you said, grow confident. I personnally think she will but even if she doesn't, I love her still. She feels real to me, it's true that it is pleasant and wonderful to have confident and badass girls in drama, but in reality, we aren't all like that. Seeing a quiet and sad girl beat life and find a way to be happy is so much more meaningful , sometimes.
Of course, it's only my opinion and I can totally understand that this kind of character isn't likable for many. I just don't think it's Bona inability to act, like some said, but just how the character is written.
THANK YOU! I am always annoyed by irrational comments, as if these audiences are female haters because they are…
I am like you, I just can't stand it.
In dramas like Age of Youth and Ode to Joy, dramas with only female leads, so really ALL about women's lives, their ups and downs, their struggles and their deceptions, people found the way to be hateful and jugmental towards them... I was baffled. Truly baffled.
Why watching a drama like that if you can't be tolerant ?
Why watching Miss Hammurabi if you don't care about justice ? If you just want a always-professional character that care more about rules and hierarchy than victims ?
They just have to drop it and go watch some other drama. I just don't understand.
Well, many criticize her acting so I dont know. For me, she does a really good job and I love her character. But Bona is one of the reasons why I started this drama, I loved her in Girl Generation 1979.
Same here. I don't get why Go Ara gets so much criticism. I love L but his acting isn't top notch in this drama. The…
Yeah, all along, when I went to comments, even on the streaming website, it was Go Ahra bashing day. I'm happy to see that I am not the only one to love her in Miss Hammurabi :)
As for L, I truly enjoy seeing him in this role but yes, his acting is not spectacular. That being said, acting abilities are not necessary to love a character, so, personnaly, it doesn't bother me. Beside, he's an idole, he can't be as experienced, that is perfectly understandable ^^
I just can't bear this double-standard thing.
Well, I like the couple but yes, the chemistry is not great. But their relationship is healthy and very sweet, so that's enough for me :)
It seems that wherever I go on MDL, these days, that the Female Lead's acting is criticized and the Male Lead's acting is applauded, I must say this issue is getting old.
I'm not a fan of Go Ah Ra, as I dropped Black because of her role, and I was quitte reluctant of starting this drama because of her. Well, it was a big surprise, I liked her very much in this. Yes, she's emotional, she's expressive, and she touched me. She plays a very unique Female lead, as she is kind but strong, afraid but fighting, naive but uncompromising. She makes mistakes and I love her for that. It takes courage to make mistakes and still going on. Go Ah Ra has a wide range of facial expressions, you can instantly see what emotion she's expressing, if this is not acting, I don't know what is. So I love both the actress and the character. I totally understand that some can dislike her, but I watched dramas for years now, and for years, I watched female characters being always "the least favorite", and the actress being "the least talented". It can't always be coincidental. Proof is I dislike very much unfair treatment and I'm always, here, on the same spot, defending female actresses and characters, and only time by time male actors and characters, as they are very rarely attacked; even the bad one are "too damn sexy" for being really hated. I am really in need of some explanation here.
L is a fine actor but by no means exceptional in my eyes, in this drama, at least. So I really don't get the praising-one, bashing-the-other. That's quite a common role to play, the hot and cold, emotionally closed but pure in the heart male lead. To avoid all misunderstanding beforehand, I will precise that I like the characters and the actor, L did a good job and Im Ba Reun is very sweet. No doubt in that. Just nothing worth praising him by putting Go Ah Ra down.
In my opinion, the two are almost equally good at acting, but I find that Go Ah Ra did better at convincing me ; the true exceptional actors in this are Ahn Nae Sang and Sung Dong Il, but they are veterans. They are incredible in every dramas.
I hope people can't stop being biased, like this. Wherever it is on comments on Viki, or here, on MDL. It's 2018, people, maybe it's time to stop this.
Damn, and I thought that Joy was an emotionless actress,,, But it seems that she has competition in Bona.
Even acting abilities seem subjective since, for me, I find her delivery believable and I really like her interpretation of the character. She doesn't exagerate her acting, that's true, but it's what I like. This is the third drama I've seen her play in, and she delivered each role differently.
Beside, I find Ha Suk Jin, even though I like him, way more emotionless than her.
She's an amazing actress, one of my favorite, who knows how to pick a role. I loved every drama and movie I've seen her in. And in addition, her voice is exceptional. I can't wait for a new production with her !
I honestly liked this one so much more that season 1. The main leads had AMAZING chemistry on and off camera!…
same, I loved it way more than the first... but I have to admit that Im a little confused by the ending. Like was it one single boy or two different ? ^^
Plus, the soundtrack was out of the world. Every OST was incredible.

How women are supposed to be, I wonder...
