Zero passion in the kisses from him showing that he’s not in love with her. But, I think on some level he is intrigued with her. He said she was pretty. But, other things seem more important to him than true love and sincerity with a woman. He probably doesn’t even know the meaning of sincerity. She, on the other hand, seems to be sincere about wanting to be a good wife to him. She may not have been in love at first, but she started falling in love over time. She schemed to keep him because he made her feel special and he is such a prime catch.

Zhao Lusi is eating this role up. I was very skeptical going into this drama. But , she has surpassed my expectations. I actually think this role showcases her acting ability better than any of her previous roles. She’s so controlled and deliberate here, reserved—like we’ve not seen her. She’s usually so spunky and perky in her other roles, but here she’s shed all that girlish “cuteness” and is a reserved and calculating full-grown woman. She’s a total baddie, morally gray character here and I love it.

The mysterious almost-nonexistent buildup, regarding who this man really is, is killing me. So many questions in my mind rn.

I think the story might show her coming to the realization she’s taken the wrong path and that her values have been flawed. I’m hoping it will be a journey of growth for her. I think it will be, for both of them probably.

Nah, I disagree. Zhao Lusi looks fantastic in this drama. Makeup, hair, and style are slaying. Prettiest I’ve seen her.

He’s probably given her several credit cards and a hefty monthly spending allowance to manage the household and whatnot. Also, people know she’s Mrs. Shen. That gets her places that being plain o’ Xu Yan wouldn’t.

Being with him enables her to be a part of a wealthy family with status and connections. She likes that. That’s what she’s getting. Plus, he’s handsome and charming. She gets a hot, sexy husband. Why wouldn’t she want all that? For me personally, it’s not worth the stress of lying all the time and denying your family, but po-tay-to, po-tah-to. Different strokes for different folks. 😆🙃😁

She’s a complex, ambiguous character. Not entirely good, but not entirely bad either. Her values and ethics are a bit skewed, well, a lot skewed. She does bad things, but I find myself wanting her to succeed anyway after learning her struggles growing up. No justification for lying though. She’s being a bad girl. It’s going to bite her in the butt big time.
