The ML isn’t a great actor, but he knows his limitations and his market. Xing Fei, similarly, is best in light romcoms.
Both are very limited actors at the moment, not yet accomplished enough to carry xian xia or heavy modern drama, but what they are good at they are very good at. And comedy is not easy! (Not naming any in case I get hated on. But I’m sure you can think of some romcoms that don’t quite work!)
Both likeable actors! Don’t take themselves to seriously.
The wedding scene at the end is from the dream they had when YY went blind, which means that everything that happened…
Ah, I understand it now. That is a lovely way to wrap it up. Especially when you remember the scene with him and YD on the whale’s back and he says she’s the only one who can make his dream come true.
Very happy with the reunion scene. Not that bothered about everything else, haha. I loved the way they ran to each other and how he held his arms out and she hugged him😍. And the emotion in their eyes. 🥹Perfection.
I don’t think they’re mortal, as mortals going through the karmic cycle are born, they don’t just appear in human form. So they’re either spirits or lowly immortals.
I also don’t know what the wedding scene at the end is? Did they get married and he’s cosplaying as di Jun for it? 😅
On ep 59 why are they both wearing red? Did they get married or something? Coz I swear I didn't see any wedding…
I got confused too, since they’re most likely the wedding outfits Zhi Xi prepared (why else mention them in the plot?) . Why wear wedding clothes if no wedding? I’m just ignoring it as a rushed plot point.
I’ll imagine there was a touching scene where YD explains to YY they might die and cries that they’ll never be able to wear the wedding robes, but YY says they will wear them and when they survive the fight they will spend the rest of their lives together.
There was a part during the fight where YD says to YY they promised they’d spend the rest of their lives travelling together, but I don’t remember that. So I’m sure a scene was cut somewhere.
I’ve just been rewatching my favourite bits over and over and over again. I love CY’s expressions. When YY smiles I smile, haha. That part when he and YD are in red and he’s holding her in his arms, and they’re both ready to die in the illusion world, he smiles at her and I could just cry, he’s so kind and perfect and makes us all feel safe.
I don’t think I’m ever going to get over this CP. I can’t even watch L&R now because I think I’ll be too depressed the actress isn’t YZ.
That kiss was very natural. I didn’t expect much from YZ after AOL (if I’m not mistaken one kiss scene, literally…
I went to watch clips and got really confused because she’s always kissing someone right in front of someone else, haha. There’s also no close up, so it’s hard to tell.
The worst kissing I’ve seen has to be Zheng Shuang in Love o2o. Yang Yang makes all the effort and she just stands there.
I know what I’d like for eps 60-61! A mini mortal arc! New YD and new TZ, YM tracks them both down and introduces them. We get high jinks, lots of naughty TZ and flustered YD, them falling in love again and then at the end they get their memories restored! Yay!
That kiss was very natural. I didn’t expect much from YZ after AOL (if I’m not mistaken one kiss scene, literally…
I have gone back to examine her kisses. She does move her head which is already very racy compared to other awful C-Drama kissers, haha, but her lips stay pretty tightly shut. I think it’s a low bar for C-Drama where unmoving lip presses count as kisses.
In the bath kiss CY was doing most of the sexy moving lips work. 😔
Just move your lips dammit! Everyone go and learn from Bai Lu! 🤣
Finally Finally watched all of it!Regardless of how I feel about the ending and execution I will say this; the…
That kiss was very natural. I didn’t expect much from YZ after AOL (if I’m not mistaken one kiss scene, literally just lips lightly placed against each other) and GGS. But she displayed YD’s overflowing affection in this scene really well by giving us a really meaningful kiss and hug. YD was an emotional character and it was a tender moment, she wouldn’t have just given a lip stamp kiss.
I have now recovered from my initial shock and properly sat down and watched it. I think like many I was so disappointed because our main couple never caught a break and was like how dare they waste such chemistry!!!
But they didn’t lack for couple moments, and that kiss at the land under the horizon was beautiful. Especially the end where he sobs as he says ‘as long as you never give up on me.’ The scene where YY throws a ink brush at her gave me so many feels, since he became TZ again for that short time.
I also loved the part where she saved him from his demon side with ‘I’m here, I’m here.’ She really is his saviour and his everything. YD’s love for him is evident the entire way through, it’s not desperate or pathetic, it’s reliable.
I am quite skeptical about the HE, as I don’t know how I can stand alone as 2 whole episodes and I don’t love the typical Chinese HE with them usually with a bratty /cheeky child. I don’t know quite what I want to see, but family scenes always looks quite fake to me and waste the couple chemistry. Maybe just twenty minutes of them flirting, fighting and then kissing? Haha.
This is now a strong contender for my favourite xian xia - obviously the rewatch and feels will be the test but it is an intelligent drama with standout performances.
TMoPB is my gold standard, and Mark Chao is perfection. But there are elements of the story that were weak, and Yang Mi can be inconsistent in her acting for me. Here you have a beautiful story, strong chemistry and both actors were flawless. I mean, CY carries the drama on his own for most of the last 4 episodes! And YZ gave us a passionate kiss scene and heart wrenching misery.

I just watched this on repeat about 50 times. I need help, haha.

Who likes Cheng Yi?
Who likes dogs?
Here is Cheng Yi and his dog! Haha

I hate when the FL is just headstrong and ‘brave’ and then bumbles straight into dangerous situations. It’s idiotic but you see it so often.
