How does he come back from that? Even if it’s a bag of blood in his pretend chest that got stabbed, he clearly also spit out blood, and the blade was long! Why can’t the director get his stabbing scenes right? Each one in this drama is right in the heart! Like when mudan stabbed his heart and it barely hurt him?? Stop pretending you can patch up a stab in the heart!

Miles and the County Princess are my favourite characters! They’re such good actors, very natural, and they really bring their characters bitterness to life. I loved their wedding scene in the first season.

They’re well written. As for the others… 🥴well, Liu Lang is awful.

I expected the scene where Liu Chang found the sleazy secret room to be hilarious, but JCY was not being convincingly light-hearted or sleazy. Also, that tied up bondage doll made it look like a sordid murderer’s den!

As much as I love Li Xian, I don’t think he’s that convincing as a sleazy, carefree greedy minister.

Does anyone remember the scene in Romance of Tiger and Rose where they find sleazy paintings in Zhao Lusi’s belongings? That’s hilarious. I thought it would be like that scene.

I’m not watching until it’s all out, but I’m watching some clips. Can someone tell me if County Princess was originally infertile anyway (her husband in her first marriage mentioned it), and she is just falsely blaming HWF?

Me too. There is literally something really great in every episode! I’ve rewatched other dramas before and it isn’t always like this, pacing is uneven, or there isn’t a satisfactory conclusion. This drama really is amazing on the rewatch.

Watching it again and in the scene where Bi Zhi leaves he promises to take care of Li. I was like, who???? Must he his son with DQ. Haha, this is what happens when you ff episodes 🥲

The kiss scenes were really natural. They have such good chemistry and it wasn’t awkward or cringe.

Quite often Chinese drama directors make the scenes too cringey for me 😢- spinning background/falling into each others lips/FL too shy/ML cringe dialogue/ moving heads stiffly/ML pervy. I have high standards! Haha

FL was refreshing. No tik tok make up, no over the top accessories or clothes, and she acts without self-consciousness.

It was really sad, DQ couldn’t bear to have people treat BZ like a beast, using him to fight, so she killed herself and the baby. Her only wish all along has been consistent, to have BZ live freely, free from trying to please her family, free from being looked down in and free from the sacrifices and duties that come from being in a noble clan.

I came here wondering the same thing. Wang Ruichang had a hit with a river runs through it and In a class of her own. Why is he back to this drama with low budget and unknowns? ☹️

I think they are the least interesting side characters too. I ff scenes with just them.

I don’t understand why she isn’t desperate to reunite with ML after the war. She decides to go home first and waits a day for him in case he catches up. It makes me feel that he loves her more than she loves him.

It does look like the episode where they consummate might make up for it though.

This drama has really delivered. The last drama I loved was Are you the one?, and it was short on fighting, kiss scenes and the second couple were a dud. I love Wei liang, xiao tao, chun Niang, the advisor and WS f4.

I was reading a Chinese comment that the entire blame lies with Bi Zhi for making a secret tunnel and then abandoning it 😅 Didn’t seem like he was too bothered protecting it. Busy hanging out in the forest.
