It is deliberate that she only has a few broken ribs after that fall. Director is working hard to give us swoon worthy scenes! Let’s not bash him! Haha

I’ve watched chae soo bin’s dramas for years. I noticed the eyebrows this time too. Stylistically Koreans like lighter brows anyway, but I think this time they’ve been lightened because it makes her look more wide eyed and innocent - less done up.

I feel like Sang woo likes her romantically. You can see when he first meets her he’s in awe. But I also think the story about the orphanage is maybe switched - as in he’s the kid in the mask maybe?

Definitely not complaining, I love an accidental kiss. But how inconvenient, not to mention very inappropriate, would it be if it was that easy to accidentally kiss someone in real life?! Haha.

Cannot wait for the next episode so I’m off to read the novel to torture myself further!

Ikr! Every ML is a simp now. It’s revolting. I think it’s what young girls like, but it reduces a man to some sort of obsessive loser who will do whatever you ask. People complain about Mary Sue characters, but the simpering ML is worse. It allows the FL to get away with all sorts of whining, petulant selfish behaviours that nobody would put up with in rl.

He was so good in the beginning of In Blossom. Also he is hot! The rest of In Blossom was awful and did him a disservice. He was also overshadowed by all the JJY criticism. I’m so glad he’s getting showcased in this drama!

I do feel like SR hasn’t given us enough to show SH is as important to her as she is to him. I love them, but not feeling that. They needed to show us more of her POV to build a better picture. Queen of Tears built the two leads up better, I think. They were distant, but you could tell they cared deeply.

They do seem to gloss over the uglier parts of cancer. But then I appreciate that they are in a society where aesthetics matter. Illness and physical deformity are not conducive to kdramas, especially romcoms. Whenever they’re ill it’s always just looking weak, it’s never snotty and congested. In Queen of Tears I notice she had brain surgery with a full head of hair!

But yeah, it’s quite unrealistic. How you can hide something like the loss of 70% of your stomach from your family, who you live and eat with, is beyond me.

Ahahaha! That would be the best use for her ex, and the only reason I could tolerate him entering the storyline.

I was hoping it was ep 6 for inadvertent kiss… but you’re right. Misery for another week it is.

Also, the FL in the first two episodes is resourceful, intelligent and independent. It’s why the ML likes her.

What is the constant complaining about a Mary Sue character? Isn’t ‘strong female lead’ also a boring one dimensional trope? The strong sassy woman who knows everything and doesn’t need any man to help thus relegating a man to a fawning sidekick or pervert/ villain?

Women are allowed to be vulnerable, feminine and need help. Women can also be, god forbid, morons. Or even want to be chased by a man.

I say this, as probably quite an intelligent woman (I do hold a masters in law), I don’t need to see women harp on about being intelligent all the time, and I like seeing men saving beautiful women. If I wanted to see career driven women yelling at men I could see it in a law office every day.

Romance dramas are fantasies, especially Chinese ones. If you want to watch a women reject all men and have a career, maybe, just maybe, don’t watch a romance drama set in ancient China?

I have quite liked JJY, ever since she was excellent in Legend of Yunxi. But her kissing scenes >~< *cries*.

Actually it applies to most c-actresses. I’m not even talking the big kissing scenes, but the ones where they give a peck on the cheek but move forward like a statue and don’t even purse their lips or touch the other person’s face. The scene is always meant to be flirtatious but ends up awkward/looks like FL is reluctant.

I’m only on episode 5, ML is amazing. A very masculine and grown up actor, exudes charisma. JJY is ok, storyline is better than her recent stuff but she does sort of always play the same character, plucky and smart heroine. And body swap dramas are really hard, so even if I’m not convinced her mannerisms are the same as the original Cai Wei, I’m inclined to go easy on her. I think she has gotten better!

Loved the original actress who played Cai Wei though! Pretty and convincingly tough.

Don’t watch it. Infuriating cliffhanger. In fact, maybe hold off until the ending has aired. It’s all downhill from here. They’ve just created a huge unnecessary mess.
