I sympathise with Sheng Yi. I feel like everyone else is looking at her through a modern day lens. Ignoring the fact l that Mu Dan can only behave like a modern female character because she has rid herself, through luck and determination, of marriage, while also having the skills to support herself and the backing of a powerful person.
Sheng yi relies on mu dan. How is that so different from relying on a husband? She is not business minded. It is risky putting her life in mu Dan’s hands. Mu Dan could die and she’d be destitute. At least with a husband she would inherit his wealth and be a part of his family.
Also, she wants a family. That is not unlike most people now. But a good marriage is not available to her. In real life it would be very unlikely for Mu Dan too. It’s incredibly convenient for the plot that ML only has a helpful aunt, otherwise his family would definitely protest. Shengyi is old, divorced and possibly infertile. She is not a good option on the marriage market. The fact she is going back to her husband shows her lack of choice.
Also, there’s a lot of victim blaming. Abusers can be incredibly charming. That’s how domestic abuse goes on for so long.
My conclusion is Sheng Yi is not an idiot. She’s a woman with few choices, none of them great.
I have been a yangzi fan since ashes of love!!! She never disappoints me with her dramas!!! The chemistry she…
I am so happy to see her with Li Xian again. He’s such a charismatic actor who can hold his own against great actresses. I loved Go Go Squid, but I didn’t always love how immature she was, and how grouchy he was. It’s great to see them with a new dynamic.
Just finishing ep11- how on earth is the real saeon so strong? Managed to subdue the body guard and father……
He is a super saiyan. Remember he fought 3 bodyguards at once before? Also, do not question how, once they’ve found her and driven for a while, the kidnapper still manages to catch them on foot.
I am just commenting that HHJ’s hair looks great after having been kidnapped and not having had a shower for a few days. My hair would be messy and hella greasy.
There are a couple ways to explain this: 1. Eui Yong isn't Jang Ho's son2. The drama simply doesn't know how DNA…
I think you’re mistaken. The scene you’re thinking of is when the secretary to ML’s dad leaks the real identity of the real BSE to Heejoo.
He says that the BSE had heterochromia (different coloured eyes) and after surgery they managed to fix it.
But what is happening, is that he is telling Heejoo cryptically that the real BSE has heterochromia, and at some point he was replaced by the current BSE who doesn’t. You can’t fix eye colours.
I just saw the release clips of ep11. There’s a redemption arc for Hee joo’s mum who realises she loves her. I hope they don’t go the full hog and make her suddenly a great mother and Heejoo accepts her. I hate that they do that in dramas. As if you can just forgive and forget years of abuse.
It especially grated in Love Next Door when the ML’s parents had neglected their son for 20 years, dumping him with the neighbours and not attending any of his school events. But then skip the end and the parents were so in love and they were suddenly a happy family again.
If my parents neglected me when I was a child and most in need of protection, that’s a criminal matter!
Oh yeah. How useless were the goons that the father hired to catch the real Saeon? And Park DJ hits real Saeon with a metal baseball bat and nothing happens.
I love this drama but…. After Do Jae got stabbed, couldn’t Heejoo have phoned ambulance on speaker and then stopped the bleeding while Sa-eon chased the psychopath?
I'm missing something here. Hee Joo's adoptive father is "fine" with Sa Eon's grandfather "causing" the accident…
Yeah, that didn’t work for me either. He obviously loved his son, so it doesn’t make sense he’d make a deal with Park Jang-Ho just because his grandson was dead too. But… I will gloss over it in my head. I am too obsessed with the main couple to be too critical. Haha
no one talking about what Baek Sa Eon's mother revealed about the our sa eon?????
Oh yeah! It’s like she is foreshadowing the response of father and son by saying both her husband and the real Saeon are very similar. I think this suggests that the father will try to kill Saeon too.
Because you see the fury in the father’s face as you see him realise that the real Saeon is more successful than him, and is the actual successor of the family line (being a son of the grandfather).
okay, what the heck! Ji Sang U not only came around the same as when the threats, bombs, and hacking began but…
I think that it could be sang woo too. The fact that Sang Woo is charming, calculating and has managed to hide his psychopathy would be more chilling than a random crazy guy like the shown kidnapper.
1. He’s a psychiatrist like the ML mother (Although I don’t know if this is the same in the drama, but she was in the novel). This could put him in frequent contact with her/have been the reason he studied psychiatry. 2. The kidnapper has a big burn on his neck. They keep showing it, and his injured eye. Why would they show it if it’s not an important identification clue? I think we will find out later. 3. Why on earth would a kidnapper support him divorcing HHJ? At the beginning even she thinks it is a sham marriage. It fits with Sang Woo wanted HHJ to leave ML. Also, there’s a scene where the kidnapper receives a text saying HHJ doesn’t want to get divorced and he goes ‘so?’ The kidnapper doesn’t care, the mastermind does. 4. He’s putting the picture of the ring on the internet where it will be easily recognisable. That will obviously put the media focus on the Baek family and help expose BSE as a fraud.
I’m a bit confused about the DNA test saying no match. Even if not father and son, a brother would still match as a relative. Does that mean that they’ve deviated from the novel? That he’s not the illegitimate son, but completely unrelated to the Parks?

Real Saeon is invincible, super saiyan level.
‘Neither you nor him take after Paul Jang-ho.’ And he says
‘Why are you bringing that up now?’
Why would he respond like that? It’s a bit odd.

I just want Christmas over and done with so I can get the next episode, haha. So sad.
Such a smooth cut from our couple’s first kiss, straight to canned kimchi.
