True, Xuan Ye's villainous and sly character is interesting although it also requires great acting (like how Cheng Yi portrayed him) for us to be pulled in by the story of such characters.

I think we will see this type of male lead in the upcoming "Till the End Of the Moon" drama. I've read the novel and the male lead(will be portrayed by Luo Yun Xi) is very scheming and has a much manipulative duplicity than Dong Fang Qing Cang or Xuan Ye... He hurt the female lead(will be portrayed by Bai Lu) many times physically and mentally and even the female lead is crafty and deceitful haha.... Huan Qin was like Xuan Ye, actually. He controlled everyone under his fingers and manipulated everyone into thinking he was a benevolent and gentle Sovereign Lord. When in fact, from the start, he already planned to kill Ying Yuan's step father. He also acted like he was not the one who started the Genesis War Part II. And lastly, he even killed Tao Zi Qi, his own lover. He lied to his best friend, Ying Yuan and lied to all of his jurisdiction.

Xuan Ye is totally different from Ying Yuan.

Xuan Ye wanted to have both love and power at the same time. He couldn't let go of even one thing. He also wasn't just greedy. He was manipulative and didn't care for anyone except for his and Ran Qing's life. He became a poison that ultimately killed himself and his beloved.

While Ying Yuan, although at first he wanted to embrace his responsibility as a sovereign lord, he is now willing to let go of everything just to be with Yan Dan. And even despite this, he still cared for the people and never wanted to sacrifice the three realms just for his love. His character development was undoubtedly not just because of Yan Dan, but also because of his compassion for other people.

How Cheng Yi's phenomenal acting allowed us viewers to clearly see the difference in the characters he portrayed, was truly worthy of a million praises!

Wait I have a theory...

I think "The Land of The Horizon" now called, Gou Dan's courtyard where Swordie was buried was also the place where Xuan Ye and Ran Qing got married......if so, it will be sooo ironic how both father and son experienced love and heartbreak in the same place...
