I really had high hopes for this drama when I saw it years ago. The 2 leads Yang Mi and Bai Yu are 2 of my favorite actors. I enjoy medical dramas but this was my first medical Cdrama. I'm putting this drama on-hold for now instead of dropping it. I stopped watching because it felt repetitive. This is one of those dramas that make me wish Cdramas would cut down on so many episodes. 40 episodes feels too much especially for a modern drama.
I think if they limit one patients story for 2 whole episodes it would have moved along better. Jdramas do this but focus on one patient for one episode and it works fine. In Thank You, Doctor, they diagnose like 2 or more patients each episode. I know doing this can feel more realistic by how the doctors face each day, but I couldn't connect with those patients by how fast they move on from them.
Don't get your hopes up on romance for this drama. As much as I love Yang Mi and Bai Yu, they didn't have much chemistry for romance so far. Also I was a bit disappointed how little medical aspects was shown. Maybe thats the life of ICU doctors? This drama kept me bored with the lack of good interesting characters besides the leads and even them weren't that interesting.
I'm in the unpopular opinion but I didn't enjoy this drama as many others did. I gave up after watching 6 episodes. I had high hopes for this since it was Netflix drama and so many people were able to watch it quickly. The high score and the main cast looked very good especially since I am a big Takeru Satoh fan. But man it just felt flat to me.
I was not a fan of each episode focus on half the time or even more on the past. I wanted to watch this drama for Takeru Satoh but it got annoying when his version of Harumichi was shown less. Even when he got screen time, the story of his character wasn't that interesting. I actually started to liked the actor who played the younger Harumichi. But I wished if they were going to do this, why not use the 2 main actors to play their younger selves. I know they might be too old to play high school students but it would have kept me more interested.
The acting is good and I like how it is produced like a film. The story is just what made me dropped the drama. I also have similar thoughts about this drama as KassyFan27's review.
Wow I just found out they are making movie. I never thought they would continue the series. I wish it would have been a season 3. Feels kind of sad seeing Koto sensei have grey hair now.
This is my 2nd Kdrama I have watched and I loved it. The ML Lee Kang Doo is a type of character/ML that I like. He is poor, has a traumatizing background, and struggles to live. I was sick and tired of dramas with the struggling ML's but have a rich background/CEO. Here, Kang Doo was everything that I dreamed of a ML. The actor of the ML Lee Jun Ho deserves the applause for his performance of Kang Doo
The trauma he was suffering in this drama was excellent. I was really moved by the emotions the actor of Kang Doo expressed the trauma he was suffering from. I think we need to see more ML's that are suffering and struggling as like a normal life.
He get's into fights, doesn't earn a lot of money, and suffers from his past yet he has very good friends surrounding him. His relationship with the Grandma was my favorite. She felt like his very own Grandma with the way she would give him advice or take care of him. One of the best relationships of the show. My favorite moment of the drama is when the Grandma is hospitalized, Kang Doo and Moon Soo's friends come visit her but also a patient next to them tells the Grandma she is very loved to have so many "grandchildren" visiting her.

I respect the decision Hero Miao made when he went to take back Ruo Lan from Nan Lan. Hero Miao could have just let her raise up Ruo Lan with Tian and focus on finding who poisoned Hu Yi Diao. But he cared for Ruo Lan as well. Even though it would be very challenging for him to raise her up while continuing his journey to find the culprit, he was willing to do it.
It felt different and interesting seeing Hero Miao raising his baby daughter. It's very rare to see a hero raise up their child while being a ordinary person. Usually the hero would raise their kid in a richer environment or the hero is the kid being raised up. But how many times is it where the hero raises their kid while being a poor person. Seeing him fight to protect her then fighting while holding her made me admire and respect him. I wonder if Ruo Lan would become a good martial artists like her father when she is grown up. Maybe she would have learned from Hu Fei.
I just finished HSDS the 2019 version which I ignored before. I think LYS is born to play wuxia heroic characters…
LYS is in his 40's but I hope it is not too late for him to get more main roles in dramas especially wuxia drams. He just looks so good with the long hair and facial hair. Yes more hero roles too!
This drama made me proud to why I love wuxia dramas. I loved the characters and the fight scenes. Miao Renfeng is one of my favorite characters ever. Lin Yu Shen was born to play him. I only wish he got more screen time. The music was fantastic as well. Good choice of songs used. The ending song is associated with Ziyi and the other insert song is associated with Lingsu.
I can now admit that Jin Yong's adaptations dramas are my favorite. I can't wait for the next drama based on his work to come out next. His wuxia dramas are the best.
This guy caught my attention in Heavenly sword and dragon saber 2019, but in Side story of Fox Volant his role there is even better. Both of those characters look similar too. But so far as I am watching SSOFV, I love his role there more.
IMO this guy looks more charming with facial hair. I want to see him in more wuxia dramas. He has this charismatic factor.

Looks like those bad reviews and comments are true. I am on episode 29 and some say episode 30 is the end point to stop. Episodes after 30, the writer made the drama into a mess. Based on the comments and reviews I read from people on those episodes, I will for the first time ever end a drama that isn't the "end".
I've read that Miarong is back and is a assistant to the empress. I'm not sure but Zhao also teams up with them kind of. Just great all the jealous bitches are teaming up. Wait the bad news doesn't end, it seems like Baoning and Li Qian have a misunderstanding and separate from each other. They build it up as Baoning and Li Qian having this strong bond where they would trust each other no matter what. Your telling me something bad happens and that bond is easily broken. This screams of the usual plot where the couple "breaks up" only to the end to get back together. I despise this idea. I am not wasting my time to watch more Miaorong, Zhao, and the Empress teaming up for evil shits.
I am so disappointed. I really adored the main couple and their chemistry. Those 2 actors did a good job in convincing me to love them. I don't get why you would "break up" a married couple then put them back together in the end. Why don't you do the misunderstanding/break up before they are married? It looks worser when they break up when they are married only to be back together because the marriage meant lots of things like trust. How can their trust or love be easily broken and easily recovered.
The music and OST is beautiful. I like the ending song which is sung by the 2 leads. But my favorite soundtrack is called Fate Theory - by Song Xinran.
I like the cast(aka main leads) and the music but the plot is just bad. What a shame. If only they cut down on the amount of jealous bitches or finish them off earlier, I might have finished the drama. I wished they focus more on characters like Jin Xiao and Si Qin. I don't get why this drama is called Rebirth for you.
I also think they could have done more with Li Qian's character. He is shown as a great martial artist but not enough scenes of him fighting. I wanted more of him fighting with fists than in the war.
