What in "historical drama" people didn't understand? I loved the humor and smart ladies sisterhood. I want to see those men struggling to join the Li family haha...This is not a misogynist drama, a solo mom in Song Dynasty doing business is already a very unique situation, do not expect feminist male characters from the beginning. ML is just fine and I am curious to know how he will discover what his mother has done...and what he will do after that. If I were Kang Ning, I would have done the same and avoid putting a son against his mom. In any case, this is a light historical roncom so far (ep.6), don't mind negative comments.
Song Wei Long looks very woolfy for me. He is a young actor I know, but the hair, costumes and specially earrings... all these are enough to convince me!! Don`t know what people complaining were expecting to see (bearded t-shirtless guy maybe?!? hahaha). It doesn't seem to be a super expensive c-drama, but not all dramas need to have a high budget, right? It has action, conspiracy, romance, smart characters and decent storytelling. It is not artsy neither has cinema CGI , but still very entertaining. I liked the international relations theory dilemma about what could bring peace, war or foreign trade/business?
Episode 23. Oh hells no! She betrayed everyone once and made them lose everything, had the FL beaten and enslaved.…
Sheng Yi has suffered domestic violence, including psychological and economic violence, over and over again from both her family and husband. Women in that situation loose their self-esteem and confidence, that is why she thought she was useless and had no friends despite of Mudan care and friendship. It is in the structure of society and she internalized it. It is common to relapse and return to the "familiar" even if it means go back to an abusive environment. It is not a "victim card" , it is the reality of women in the past and present. In modern times she could try to get psychological help and community support if she was lucky enough. But many can't do it and that is why the numbers of death for violence against women are still high in many countries nowadays. I liked the way Mudan asked her to come back, because she understands the importance of sisterhood and the healing force of empowerment. In the end, this drama is about the violence, prejudice and abuse that women suffered in Tang Dynasty, and how difficult it was to survive and be independent in those times without romanticizing it.
I like this kind of simple, unpretentious and straightforward drama. It is about solving cases, most of them related to violence against women and lower working classes. Grey color palette gives a XIX century London feeling, and ML unseriousness brings light to what otherwise could be a very dark story. All casting is doing great, there is no place for heroes or villains. If you are looking for a light but intelligent drama this is it!
I am in love with all the love stories in this drama. The combination of storytelling, OST, cinematography, art direction and casting is one of the most beautiful that I have ever watched, and I watched hundreds of dramas already. Well done Moonlight Mystique, this is absolute cinema!!
I don't know what is this drama about. Already watching ep.29 and it is a miscellaneous collection of multiverse, comedy, mystery, romcom, love-hate and Romeo&Juliet story lines for different characters' relationships, family, court conspiracies, fantasy, brotherhood, and Wuxia breadcrumbs. It is giving me an "I'm Nobody" feeling: great production and good cast wasted by poor screenplay. But with a lot more loose ends this time. Will they manage to give it a decent end with only 10 episodes to come out?
The "law enfforcement above all" ending was too bitter for me. It gave the impression this drama was about the police, when for me it was more about the human relations and characters' lifes after 1993 events. Imperfect characters should have an imperfect end. Liu Bai definitely is not a hero, he is in a gray area, but prison and a death sentence for an accidental death was a bit too much for me. But I still praise this drama, great cinematography, OST and sound design, direction and acting. Ruins, dust and the abandonment of the town in the name of development reflected well the wrecked souls of some characters. As a thriller it was very well writen as details slowly unfolded and took the story to sometimes unexpected directions. Can we agree it was a masterpiece? All actors did really great, but Jiang Qi Ming acting skills (maybe because of his theater experience?) shinned on the screen. I will look forward for his next works.
Dylan Wang lost his baby face. I hope he gets more mature roles from now on, he has a very interesting face. If he works a little more on his face expressions and delivery of lines he will become one of the top actors of his generation.
People are criticizing FL for being childish, while whole plotline has word "Clownfest" written on it. Guys its…
But why does the FL need to by annoying in order to be funny?!? Comedy does not equal to childishness...there is no need to downgrade a character to a 5 years old in order to make the audience laugh or to lighten the mood. I really hope there will be opportunity for character development, otherwise it will be another waste of cast talent and audience time.
Where can I watch this drama? Ep.1-4 are on Youtube, but will they keeping releasing it there? It got me hooked, besides the story, it has great cinematography .
I will always praise k-dramas that address gender issues, considering how misogynist is that country. There was a lot packed in only 8 episodes, but it was beautifully done. It is an unique combination of mystery with sweet romance, a 9/10 for me.
i found myself fast-forwarding (which i loath to do when its Shen yi screen time) when they were talking about…
I think the gene topic was brought to the conversation to show how both perspectives are close to each other despite the apparent difference between science and art. These is a very cool and contemporary debate. Sheng Yi and Fang Kai Yi are trying to predict and fix criminal behaviors, and these may go very wrong.
Mai You Ge really annoys me acting like a gringo lost in an underdeveloped tropical country. I thought industry had stopped long ago to make this kind of character. And how come an adult with a job in the marketing/hotel business does not know how to connect her phone to the local network?!? Why do women stressed with their jobs must be portrayed as clumsy or dumb people? I like the actors/actresses and director (Fake till you make it), so I will give it a chance, but so far I am a little disappointed.
