People can like Baek Kyung but I hate it when Baek Kyung is called romantic and they romanticize his abusive possessive…
I agree. It makes it harder for me to empathize with him when he treats everyone like emotional punching bags. Glorifying his behavior does not help in any case. He does not need love, he needs therapy. You can wish the best for a character but glorifying their abusive behavior? Very questionable.

Title Extraordinary You Spoiler
sadly he won't
so in the webtoon, Nam Ju and Ju Da remain ignorant? that's so depressing...
On Extraordinary You Oct 27, 2019
The first few episodes were exciting but I really don't know where this drama is heading honestly. I hope Nam Ju becomes self aware soon, I wonder how that'll change the plot.

Love jieun to death... however, this drama isn't really my cup of tea... especially considering the kind of dramas the Hong sisters write. Everything just feels so lackluster. I will say that I'm having a more fun time watching Manwol's past than her present.

Title SKY Castle Spoiler
Um I just want to ask you did you really see maturity and strength in Ye Seo's character? She just seemed like…
We agree to disagree. I think she showed an adequate amount of growth when comparing the kind of character she was back in the earlier episodes. Growing up with a family like that has unbelievable consequences and I really can’t blame her for acting the way she did. Her mother is someone who let the insecurities and shame she felt as a child carry into her authoritarian style of parenting which resulted in her twisted ethics. Her father is an egotistical shell of a person who’s essentially uninvolved in Yeseo’s life other than giving her compliments as positive reinforcements to benefit himself for the sake of his work. The only strive she had was her education and her mother supported her in her studies. So of course, she was going to listen to her mother. Not only that, but she was raised spoiled so her giving up her chance at a prestigious university and dropping out showed immense maturity to me. She also knew she couldn’t let WooJoo take the fall for something he didn’t do (also considering how much she harboured feelings for him). It took a while but she came through. Also, I think that scene between her and her grandmother showed that she finally knew the gravity of using someone’s tragedy to advance higher in education and how meaningless it all is in the end if it’s to that extent. Yes, Yeseo is her own person but many people undermine how the environment you grow and live in can impact human development. From someone who’s studying to become a teacher, I only wish the best for her character and that she emerges a better person from this. I hope you can understand where I’m coming from!

I didn’t realize this when I first started watching but now that the drama’s nearly finished, Yeseo has to be my favorite character. The maturity and strength she developed throughout the episodes were beautiful to watch. I wish her sincere happiness. (Also after seeing the sneak peeks of the cast on happy together, she has so much chemistry with Jo Byeong Gyu or Ki Joon so I’m surprised the writers didn’t utilize it!)

Title The Last Empress Spoiler
I may be in the minority but there’s really no chemistry between Wangsik and Sunny. I see friendship, but their romance isn’t selling in my opinion. On the other hand, Shin Sung Rok is such a good actor that at times, I forget the insane things the emperor has pulled in the first half of the drama; it also drives me insane that I can sympathize with his tragic childhood considering how much I wanted his demise. I didn’t expect to root for his redemption when I began watching this but ah man, this just shows how well he is at portraying his character. There’s no way I want him and Sunny together of course but I do find him a more interesting character than Wangsik whom I still don’t care for at all.

Took a chance and was skeptical since it was 60+ eps, but I ended up binge watching this in three days! Yang Zi and Deng Lun gained themselves a fan. Their phenomenal acting made me want to rate this a solid 9 alone but unfortunately, the side stories and supporting characters bumped it down to a 8.5... there were a lot of filler scenes about characters I didn’t care about so I found myself skipping some of their parts during the second half. Also, reading about the drama and script controversy between the writers offscreen explains why. Other than that, I think this drama will have a place in my heart for a long time solely because of the beautiful love story and amazing chemistry.

If the emperor actually ends up falling for Sunny in the end, it’ll lead to one of his biggest and greatest downfalls, which is the best sort of revenge in this case tbh. I’m not sure how the writers would incorporate that or if the rumor for that plot line will prove to be true but it sounds fantastic to me. Still don’t care for Wangsik at all.

Rooting for the younger prince since he seems like the only semi-sensible person here besides Sunny. The rest of the characters are despicable and inane, even Wangshik. Like bro, and I’m expected to see Sunny and him fall for each other? I have to laugh.

Wtf how come this 8.5 when the last empress is 7.5. all this cliche shit.
I don’t see what this reply had to do with my comment nor the point of comparing dramas in general.

I think episode 6 really sealed the deal for me in regards to this drama, I’m enjoying it so much! As Jinhyuk gradually enters into Soohyun’s harsh world, it’ll slightly bring him back to earth as naivety doesn’t particularly equate ignorance, and I think Bogum portrays that accurately. The slow pace of it all is what makes me more excited for what’s to come.

This is going nice so far despite minor flaws in terms of verisimilitude. Soohyun is my favorite character, no doubt (Hyeko is amazing as always). Her ex husband is pretty interesting too so I’m praying on more development on his end. I also hope the writers flesh out Jinhyuk’s character a bit more in regards to his goals in life. They mentioned them a bit in the first episode, I think.
