im still confused. aint a gay chef a chef? is this a different type of chef or idk does 'gay' food exist? im only…
I know you said you don't give a fuck if it's Korea, but I think you should? For us foreigners the writers are playing on an incredibly outdated stereotype of gay people, but for Korea it seems like the drama is trying to take a huge step forward. I may turn out to be wrong by the end of the show, but the impression I got from the first episode is that the show is trying to do what Ah Jin wants to do with the cooking show. "The thing about people is when they don't know someone, they consider that person to be a different species. And they'd be uncomfortable and scared to talk to them. I want to show the viewers that the way they live and the feelings they have are identical to our way of life and our feelings. I want to show they're just like us." I remember just five years ago this same channel got a warning from the KCSC (the group in charge of broadcast censorship) for simply airing a short lesbian kiss. Korea is considerably behind in LGBT rights, and especially with the resurgence of homophobia and hate from the second virus outbreak, I think the message the show is trying to send shouldn't be disregarded. While the execution may be problematic in our eyes, it's good that they're at least trying compared to other channels who are doing nothing. And with the inclusion of a trans character in Itaewon Class earlier this year, I'm getting the feeling that JTBC is slowly working hard to catch their content up with the global perspective.

You have every right to feel offended and uncomfortable with the plot, I'm just saying context shouldn't be completely ignored here.

Title Good Casting
Guessing they didn't pre-produce enough to survive a pandemic (not that it would be wise to do that)... though…
a lot of dramas are still filming despite the virus they've just shortened them to 12 episodes. sbs repeatedly taking a break with that time slot makes sense tho. thanks! i've been making this calendar-thing that i organize by channel and time slot and i noticed that everyone else had at least 2-3 dramas set to follow the currently airing ones except good casting so i was curious~
