Brilliant Article - i've not seen it yet myself but know of it and the outline story and have also wondered if…
Thank you for your kind words! That's exactly what got me thinking, that the outline/concept of the story would very likely be a hit among Korean audiences and also internationally, and before I knew it my brain started going through all the details lol
What a lovely idea you've had for this article ;)))!!! I would have to think twice about Jamie's casting too.…
thank you so much!! yeah, that's the one i'm still not completely satisfied with - in a dream world if this were to actually happen, the production staff would miraculously discover an unknown or smaller actor that fits jamie perfectly lol
it's slow burn. it's very satisfying to see him falling in love with her. for me it's the best part of the drama.
oh thank god! that's what i was hoping, but i've come across a few lakorns where it was insta love and then got scared by some of the comments below. will definitely watch this then!
can someone who has watched this let me know how the romances progresses? is it slow burn? do they hint at the guy falling for the girl? or is it that he suddenly gets feelings for her?
i saw all the criticisms for the first episode and got scared to watch, but in reality it wasn't that bad? my…
okay that was a lie, my biggest complaint is the webtoon writer friend character. i was NOT a fan of that weird sexual way they introduced him or the way they made him look like a caricature of stereotypes.
i saw all the criticisms for the first episode and got scared to watch, but in reality it wasn't that bad? my biggest complaint is that it is kinda weird they decided to make such a mature webtoon into a family drama, the over the top childish comedy contrasts too strongly against the content and innuendos and it's confusing as to what demographic they producers are aiming for, but i had fun watching it.
Unfortunately forest was the most anticipated dramas for me before it start but i end up dropping it and a piece…
omg it was mine too! every year i have a shortlist of most anticipated dramas, and every year they don't live up to expectations :/ I hope backstreet rookie doesn't disappoint
i just realized that with sbs pulling their shit to drag out the king eternal monarch, the start of backstreet rookie is gonna get pushed back rip. hopefully it won't be as bad as what they did with vagabond..
Ok I'll b*tch and moan for you. When Jerry Yan was 20 years old, Shen Yue was born. When Jerry Yan was starring…
okay but is shen yue a minor now? *no* she is an adult doing a job that she is talented at and i am guessing she loves doing since she hasn't quit. so what if he was 20 when she was born? they're both professionals doing a job together. if it disgusts you that much you don't have to watch, but y'all don't need to treat shen yue like she's a preyed-upon teen caught in the clasps of a pedophile. the girl knows what she's doing and is allowed to make her own decisions regarding her career.
im still confused. aint a gay chef a chef? is this a different type of chef or idk does 'gay' food exist? im only…
I know you said you don't give a fuck if it's Korea, but I think you should? For us foreigners the writers are playing on an incredibly outdated stereotype of gay people, but for Korea it seems like the drama is trying to take a huge step forward. I may turn out to be wrong by the end of the show, but the impression I got from the first episode is that the show is trying to do what Ah Jin wants to do with the cooking show. "The thing about people is when they don't know someone, they consider that person to be a different species. And they'd be uncomfortable and scared to talk to them. I want to show the viewers that the way they live and the feelings they have are identical to our way of life and our feelings. I want to show they're just like us." I remember just five years ago this same channel got a warning from the KCSC (the group in charge of broadcast censorship) for simply airing a short lesbian kiss. Korea is considerably behind in LGBT rights, and especially with the resurgence of homophobia and hate from the second virus outbreak, I think the message the show is trying to send shouldn't be disregarded. While the execution may be problematic in our eyes, it's good that they're at least trying compared to other channels who are doing nothing. And with the inclusion of a trans character in Itaewon Class earlier this year, I'm getting the feeling that JTBC is slowly working hard to catch their content up with the global perspective.
You have every right to feel offended and uncomfortable with the plot, I'm just saying context shouldn't be completely ignored here.
