ban ryu and soo yeon's resolution was half-assed. yeo wool had no resolution. ban ryu and soo ho had no resolution (wasn't the last thing soo ho said to him to stay away from his sister??? I thought they were supposed to be building a bromance). seriously like soo ho just disappeared, where was he in the end. dan se was suddenly thrown in even tho he made no appearance in the last two episodes and he technically wasn't a hwarang. nobody mentioned han sung except for that one line of yeo wool's in ep 19 even though he was supposed to be the turning point.
I don't think Krystal or SSK can act..or at least with such a gem of a drama, they'd sink it..Nam Joo…
Same, i was excited for this until he got cast. like I'm sorry to the people who loved him in weightlifting fairy, but from what I can gather about the story, he doesn't suit the tone.
It's the same disappointment I have with the korean cast of The Liar and His Lover :((
I am beyond annoyed. Historically inaccurate plot aside, the writing for this drama is absolutely terrible. The whole throne battle is stupid. The writers spent 85% of the drama showcasing Ji Dwi's struggle against his throne-obsessed mother and building viewer sympathy for him to push through the pain, become stronger, and claim his title. The writers kept building and building, and then he finally does it. He claims his title, and all of the sudden the man who is supposed to be his friend comes along and tries to steal it from him.
Sun Woo is the main character, and the viewers are supposed to support him. But after all of the build up behind Ji Dwi being the rightful king, the writers are suddenly trying to turn him into the bad guy? It doesn't work! All I feel is sympathy towards Ji Dwi and resentment towards Sun Woo for betraying his friend, and that is not what I want to nor what I should be feeling as a viewer. Now I'm the one feeling betrayed, because I feel like my beloved Hwarang are all turning against their friend. Dramas are essentially a product, and this is not how you attract consumers.

i havent read the manhwa tbh but based off the artwork i expected someone older to be cast as the water god. Nam Joo Hyuk fits high school rom coms, and based off the synopsis, this is very different..

@Lorell Like it was so sudden... He wasn't even in episode seventeen, i don't even think he was mentioned, and then all of the sudden they center episode 18 around him and it's like ??? that's not how you do things?
objectively speaking, han sung's death is a smart plot move. it's the classic killing the last person who deserved to die, the pure innocent soul's death that hurts everyone he touched and acts as a catalyst for setting important events into motion and major character development... but the way that they did it here... it was so anticlimactic and did not have the impact it should have. method of death aside, something about the editing and the speed that it played out just obliterated any emotion the viewers could have felt. I should have been devastated, but all i felt was a bit of sadness - and that was all due to the actors' great delivery of the scene. I felt nothing towards the writing...
This was my first and probably my last historical drama... personally think this was terribly done with such a…
i'm someone who also has a hard time watching historical dramas, but they're not all bad. plus hwarang is in a lane of messy of its own. Moonlight Drawn By Clouds was stunning
This may be too late to say this but the queen is so frustrating.
same i couldn't stand her from the moment she first appeared... more like even before the drama started airing and she started talking shit about it on her instagram
this drama was a mess thank god it's over

Also, if you like cheesy stuff, the end of episode 8 will be right up your alley :)
...I'm just disappointed.
