I'm pretty sure because of the success of 2gether that pushed independent production companies to experiment on it. I think projects started popping up about 2 months after 2gether started. BL always had a following in PH but I think never before a BL littered everyone's tl until 2gether started airing. So much so that the biggest local network inked an exclusive deal with GMMTV to dub select BLs for their network and the streaming service they own: iWant. Still 2gether aired simultaneously in PH already dubbed. I believe they asked to geo block the titles they own in PH so it's only accessible through their network but people still watch it on YT using VPN.
Alt Gameboys is definitely a backdoor pilot for another spin-off. They established Wesley x Terrence x Achilles as main characters for that spin-off. They'll do it if there's enough viewers for it.
Wow there are a lot of "skippable" scenes in this one. There are far too many filler dialogues and shameless ad scenes worse than "Oishi Lemon Honey". IDK when they established both had feelings for each other but suddenly they're flirting in front of everyone.
I think another NG passed through the final cut. Ace acknowledged the pictures first BEFORE saying good morning. Either that's a no good or it had an unnatural scripting. I don't know which is worse.
My Day had all the hype with the release of the trailer. all it had to do was to deliver. Unfortunately, so far it has been mediocre. All the actors needs acting workshop.
Now crossing my fingers for Lakan and Gaya Sa Pelikula. Hopefully it doesn't suffer the same fate.
I really love how PH BLs more resemble the indie PH LGBT series/movie feel/storytelling rather than traditional Taiwan/Thai BL which are usually aimed towards young women. It feels like two different products. They took the BL genre and fused it with the existing LGBT media in the Philippines. I love it! Lakan looks great!

I am ready.

Wow BLs from the Philippines isn't playing. The storytelling of some first wave of PH BLs aren't even pretending to BE gay. They are gay gay. The stories, the lines are relevant to how it is to be gay in real life. And yes, we are valid
oh my god this dumbass didn't turn off the phone of the one she killed what a dummy. He didn't even think of the phone's GPS tracking him. I need season 2 now! Netflix better renew this one. KDramas usually have 16 episodes and don't end on cliffhangers regardless if there's a sequel or not. They're doing American style season finales and I don't like it
40 minutes!!! That was a great season finale. They finally all met together including Pearl! I kinda forgot Pearl lives just across the street from Gav which means Gav, Cai and Pearl get to see each other during the 7 day period. I wonder if S2 will start when Cai is back in Bukidnon with his mom. Since the movie will come before Season 2, i assume the movie will happen around that 7 day period they're together at Gav's place where Pearl can go in and out. It's also possible there's an overlap in time line when Pearl is in the middle of her GL where Gav and Cai can do a cameo. There are lots of options in the gameboys universe! Can't wait where it takes us!
Okay.. but #Terley though. There's something there. Pearl's face when her, Wesley and Terrence were left in that vc lol
This is one of the better Filipino movies. It isn't loud as Star Cinema usually pumps out other than Cathy-Garcia Molina films (Check out Hello, Love, Goodbye!). I saw this in a screening in the US when it was first released. Sucks they turned on the lights early while everyone was crying at the end scene lmao. Check it out on Netflix!
This is a great zombie period drama. I can't believe it isn't more popular in the US! Unfortunately reading subs is still a hard sell here unless it's anime. :/
Okay I finally gave up and read the 3-episode Wattpad "pilot" for Gaya Sa Pelikula and let me tell you, we are not ready for this. Some of the lines hit me hard. I giggled uncontrollably multiple times while lying down on my bed reading them. Some of the lines are hard hitting too. It's not all lovey-dovey type content, but also a commentary within the LGBT+ community that needs to be said out loud. Hopefully the actors can translate Juan Miguel Severo's writing prowess on-screen. Although I think the story is somewhat different from the Wattpad pilot, if the teaser is any indication, I think they'll do the material JMS will provide justice.
I love how these new breed of BLs isn't the same as other BL who's like "if it's not him, then nevermind" or being fixated on "hubby" or "wifey" labels until they finally figured out it doesn't really matter by the end of the season type of BL. These new breed of BLs actually reflect what it's like to live life as a gay or a lesbian in this society. I think for me the first BL I saw break this was UWMA. They aren't just riding the wave of commercialized BL, but actually tell a story in the perspective of a person living through it. I can't wait for this one!
I didn't realize they're taking another week before the finale. Is it just me or is it a bad idea to break off ESPECIALLY the penultimate and finale episode? If they needed more time they should've just taken 3 weeks off instead of 2. It breaks routines of viewers and you lose viewership. Hello Strangers did it for the finale and they lost momentum. Gameboys took a break and lost momentum too and now they're breaking it again. Casual viewers who don't follow their social media or isn't as invested as us will forget they exist and don't come back. Even with the stupid scheduling american tv shows go through so they can stretch it from Fall through May, they at least bunch the last 4 episodes together so they can get casual viewers back for the finale.
This is like getting on a rollercoaster and when the ride is up top just about to make the fall, everything just stops and you're stuck up there until they fix it. It's just not an ideal experience.
I am not good at confrontation so when Gav is showing up Wes and took off his shirt for no goddamn reason and i wanted to turn off my tv lol. Gav is so insecure of his relationship that he tried to use Terrence to fill the void in his heart and he doesn't see how his actions will affect Cairo. Unlike Wes, Terrence DID in fact tried to ruin their relationship AND in front of everyone! Gav just assumed Wes will do the same without even really knowing the guy. Gav still accepted Terrence back as a friend justifying they were friends before Cai entered the picture. The hypocrisy of it all.
Wes is Cairo's childhood friend and I think it's 100% unfair of Gav to wish Cai to quit talking to Wes for him. Regardless of what Wes feels about Cai, he should trust Cai to do the right thing. I mean, if Cai wanted Wes (and vice versa), they'd be more than friends by now. As I see it, Wes just wants his friend back. I might be wrong on that, but we shall see. Gav needs to remember that he was the main factor why Cai broke out of his shell and accepted who he really is. Not all relationships have that kind of strong foundation to begin with.
Holy crap are they still filming individually without seeing each other on zoom? If so, wow! The intensity between them during the last argument absolutely matched to make that scene work!
Last time i felt scared of two people arguing was that one time when my parents fought when I was a kid. I've never seen them shout on top of their lungs, so I was scared of both of them lol. Thankfully they only fought that hard once in my life. This episode kinda triggered that memory of mine. That was a lot for me at the end.
