Even though i haven't watched all of the episodes , you have pretty much summed up for me with the line "They are true backbone of resilience and endurance upon which the Chinese dream is built upon." Simplicity, hardship, reluctant to change, eager to believe and sacrifice. I haven't watched all of the episodes. I have been out for a while this drama is definitely my cup of tea will be watching it at some point of time. Just from first few episodes i knew how compelling it will be , will share it with you when i will be able to give some time to watch it till the end.

Zilv should stop piping dreams .The character had all sort of hallucinations get shocked . Characters like that suffer to reach their true form it seems, if he possibly could figure it out early tiger tally wouldn't be some one else's.He went on a emotional ride without questioning intelligently no wonder. Character isn't destined to achieve anything long term, its ratty ventures would have been blown long before If its weren't others help in crisis.He and his buddies should have the same destiny eventually. Opposite of being bright.Characters like that cant progress of their own.

Valley battle scene was good . Xiao Qi had used his spies good. Looked like God of War. Zilv dad King Jianning didn't had a bad destiny it seems. No cowardice from him when he was given the sword.

Haven't watched Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms yet. When i watched Story of Yanxi Palace its was the first of its kind, i enjoyed the overall journey greatly, few issues were not that noticeable to me.

...it can definitely be annoying to many, viewers watch drama with some expectations/beliefs and authors supposed to capture ethos of most.

Agree with you about the big undertaking and expectations. Not sure about the story. There were few pot holes, for sure. Still many eps for me before reaching half .Only at 14 will watch 15 today.

They can use money in one area and not other area. Dont now the budget of Longest Day in Changan. It was a great story at least to me, The ML was not a super man story he had his faults .There were boatload of other interesting things happening too.It was a very special drama for me.Rebel princess is not that kind of drama. Whether rebel princess the center character of the entire story and the story itself is not unique remain to be seen, that's one angle. People were expecting unique story with unique production quality who wouldn't.

I dont think this drama has/will've the same production value of Longest day in Changan but its good in its own sense for recent days standards like many i am seeing, its a romantic drama.Plots should have been done better. In Longest day in Chaggan they spend a 7 month just to recreate the streets of Changan city, damn . How many people were aware of Changan was 2019 and Rebel princess was this and that.Do they always watch with every possible backstory knowing.Dont think for international audience its that the case.As they possibly Know more they can add those to their liking or disliking of course.

For a budget and that kind a technical team they could've done even better. Technically to make her look younger if they don't want to cast a teen lookalike in between, then the best technical example case, off the top of my head for now would be Captain America the First Avenger .
For rebel princess dont know if its appropriate for a known female actress or for some other reason they didn't venture. A tiniest looking anomaly at certain point can even bring bigger disaster/more ridicule. I believe people judge women face/body more intently than men . Actor Chris Evans digital transformation of younger skinny looking army recruit in the beginning of the movie was very believable but it was a short portion time of the movie.The budget of the movie was 140 -216 millions somewhere.

In Photoshop you can make a person from aged to young except technically similar to it this time you are doing it film 24f/s for a good many minutes or small number of minutes if possible .complex vfx tooling required and certainly done before and they could've/should've done one can argue .The technical ensemble and budget is noteworthy for this drama.

You know the more i think i feel the controversy can bey avoided just casting a lookalike. I know its difficult to find one then any teen , there are lots of movies and drama abruptly switching to character installments don't think the fuss would be bigger than what we are getting. Feeling it would be less risky since they are not comfortabloe with vfx in this respect. If it was a movie theres more chance to go with the vfx route. May be future days dramas will venture boldly in this regard.

I will take her comment somewhat.Will talk about Arya Stark of Game of Thrones. Shes not at all tropey when she was an apprentice of 'The Faceless Men' guild (battered and bruised whatnot) after awhile she was absolute infallible (skinchanger and finest killer what not) the perfect tropey young woman. GOT geeks or not many criticized that, you cant satisfy all of them .its was super fictional character and yet you got what you got. She was an important character, people were interested in . Some may be bother by it some may like it, overall there were other things going on for the drama itself (characters, plot). Drama was a hit.One can argue what Arya faced earlier, by design was just to take off the the heavy dosage of sugar coating from what about to happen later part her arc. Her characters arc (entirety) one can associate with something and/or one can disassociate with something .

If i visit the realm of Marvel and DC comics genre without going deep (Superman klerk kent , Spiderman peter parker et al) People continues to consume them so do i. Probably that got to do with movie format vs drama format (success wise). Dont know if i am willing to watch drama versions.There s a few available, i didn't watch them mostly because of vfx and may be story too.still these are not going anywhere they are staying to entertain. Moments of enjoyments and dis-enjoyments can change along the characters arc or story.

Thing about if the story being rehashed. The so called perfect popularized story may be still criticized .The things people watched last year may be not enough interesting for the next year but argumentative as its always difficult to know how much conformity lies in differing s as further digging can bring a few other dimensions. Peoples liking is very difficult thing to define its not necessarily always constant.The overall experience of ones journey should triumph over any part of it.That doesnt mean one needed to take a journey always.This debate will stay.

I am watching drama more selectively may be its one of the reason many type of tropes are not issue for me, may be that feeling will change too. Yanxi palace is another of my favorite. Dont know if you've watched AvenueX taking on Rebel Princess ,wasn't AvenueX herself talking about in one breadth story of Yanxi palace being attempting to be anti Mary Sue and the same breadth its still a Mary Sue.There s seems to be no clear cut definite end to it in that context.Feelings confused or sure may be changed in future.This drama released after qin empire 4 maybe made things worse for some, forgot who said that in some earlier comments but i agree.Knowing the story beforehand not that satisfactory to some also possibly aggravated things for some.

Don't know if it can be called ML fault or script fault but his rescue of FL and a few other things in the parade ground that were unfold or resolved not that convincing. Whether they were to un sugarcoat his character i am not sure. Probably plot fault. He had the platoon and antagonist was a already defeated plotter of a small group. Didn't gave me the vibe of super perfect male character machismo/intelligence except the trapeze cameo on the swinging bridge.Not a big deal to be dramatic for the climax. Felt some other things could've been done better for me.Story was made for him to succeed in that event.

One thing she failed to address is that stellar technical team with one of the acclaimed actress whats the tradeoff few eps gamble of casting her as teen or casting a actual teen hope for the best ? Filmmakers view is something else.And that's exactly what we have been experiencing .Most time it work financially well for the industry. A good point was they could have shortened some first eight eps to two not to annoy potential larger audience. Her character could have two installments.actually three, she did had a childhood installment, but casting a teen and thenceforth they seemed to felt it a difficult task to pull off.

Both of the character has shown earlier episodes some flaws they are not devoid of flaws/weakness.She couldn't elaborate it farther. Like many I am not aware of the original story to have an opinion about it and even if i have still wont be able to be sure how accurately will they follow that story, dwelling on that aspect make no sense, bulk of the episodes still yet to be shown'

she obviously know the story and predicting that's the way things will turn out,if that's the case is it bad (?) don't know. I feel the drama can be considered as romantic story primarily ,based on what i have seen so far, and its good romantic drama primarily bcause of the ML FL acting abitlity, there's nothing to complain about it worth watching on that aspect.

She is complaining dramas dramatic nuances which is weird.She is getting tired of watching too many dramas, come to think of it it can happen any of us.But you wont be able to watch any drama as it usually not possible without having dramatic scenes, overdoing all the time will be problematic, which they are not doing. Creative way of doing things change a lot of things.

She is creative and funny at times.Know stuffs well. Should get more subs. She did created the rightly double edge sword of age so yeah that right age slash wont be on Rebel princess this time.

In Tribes & Empires Shaun Duo and the emperor and him were a great trio. They were all made to rule more so.Shaun Duo pro ally a bit lesser degree.

If you cant really convince the doppelganger in you stop spending more time liking you than to be patient with you its highly likely you will be always looking for Mary Sue :( Safe thing to do is give less time the doppelganger in you. But then if you want to run a marathon,at water stop using doppelganger in good use can be win win for you :)

Thus far seen a few flaws cant call weakness, from ML and FL. ML leadership didn't look sound rescuing FL from Helan Zhen and unplotting emperors pawns. FLs flaw may be small, her is she was deeply in love with Zitan, just missing him at the jetty on a very intense trouble some period to give up on him so quickly ? She believed her father so easily yet shown earlier she is capable to be defiant of him as far as her lover is concerned.

May be she has still some sort of feelings for him,may be its the moment of disbelieve , future eps can shade more light.Not expecting borderline Mary sue.seen the lack of it with in 12/13 eps. Listening to ML of her fathers true nature opened her eyes, she started opening up to him possibly because she is lonely and have broken heart,pace may be faster, they could've make it a marathon .Their scenes were flowed with nothing but love.They have the captivating screen presence.Most probably wont complain if it were prolonged.We didn't get that still probably most wont complain because of their class presence.

The Story of Ming Lan was a beautiful story.One of my favorite .The relationship along between Ming Lan and her grandmother is worth to watch people who haven't watched it yet wouldn't understand this unless they watch and that aint a bait in any measure. Ming Lan was a very strong and funny character.

Rebel princess has the potential to give a very good romantic relationship between FL and ML. I am only eps 12 and i am impressed with her characters strength.I am hoping her other character traits will start to evolve as the drama progresses.

Its always difficult to ascertain what people were trying to look for and in the end what they experienced watching dramas. Odd rating i guess will be always there.

I felt 2 eps long her captivity scene showed she was exhausted,afraid yet not lost tried her best to escape, though turn out to be futile but in the end decided not to do so rightly.All sorts of physical and emotional expressions and intelligence were there. Awu showed her class , yeah the build up was perfectly there ending could have done better how they solve the main puzzle, how Xiao Qi team approach it, pacing wise was satisfactory(character closure).

Emperors pawns the envoy, the guy that got the kinda cannon ball grenade treatment and blown into oblivion(may be its called exploding gunpowder caltrop treatment ).Dont know why they were required to had that kind of treatment.simple confinement of half a dozen suffice may be and may be i missed few things earlier.The Xiao Qi team efforts how they go about was a bit let down to me feels like he was not aware of whats going on which was odd.Talking about attempts from the underground and Lookout Tower .Parameter supposed to be secure of a military parade ground. Wasn't one of his guy supposed to return back and report the plan of attack.May be he was behind time or got killed.

Not that of a big issue its ok.

11th eps in rescue scene on the swinging bridge confirms a trapeze aficionado involvement in some capacity for the direction of dramatic climax.A few characters those expanded got their closure in few eps not bad.

She did a bit hang gliding with Helen zhen dude (possibly?) on her way to the moon, but yeah in reality i can see both of em equally getting moved by the other:)
