The cast was great, the plot -- not so much. And while it was entertaining to watch a bunch of men jogging without shirts in some fictional country (remind me again what the point was of having them even film part of this drama there?) -- entertaining doesn't make a great drama.

DOTS is sadly overrated...but when you've got a drama revolving around a cast full of popular actors, sexy soldiers, with a huge dose of romance thrown in, I suppose even I can see the allure. I just wish there had been an overarching story to speak of -- you know -- connecting the dots (no pun intended) and adding that layer of depth this drama sorely needed. At times I felt like I was watching two dramas - the one filmed in Urik and the one in S. Korea. But I guess not everyone needs a strong plot, to still feel a drama was fantastic. I can certainly attest to that, as I'm also guilty of loving my fair share of over-hyped dramas.

The drama isn't perfect, but I find myself really enjoying this one. It's becoming more interesting as it goes on, and the overarching story is really starting to intrigue me. I also love the dynamic between San, Goo Hyung and Gyeo Wool - they're like the three musketeers.

I'm really enjoying this one. I hope the writers don't mess this one up with too much unnecessary angst.

what the fuck is wrong with the people in this comment section hating this drama can you all just shut the fuck…
it's called having an opinion. this is not meant to be just a fan page, but an area where all viewers can comment on what they like and dislike about a drama.

The issue I have with DOTS, is that the writers have failed to give the viewers a solid overarching storyline…
I don't mind the multiple conflicts (ie, the earthquake, the human trafficking and infectious disease), propelling the series forward -- to me it's a given any good drama would include this. Or else, like you said, it would be one boring watch. But personally, I prefer dramas that round out the day-to-day challenges, with a central overarching plot -- you know, something connecting the dots.

As for Argus, he's so one dimensional that it's hard to believe he is the main antagonist. I'm sincerely hoping the writers will give the poor guy the depth his character is lacking. Even small hints of his back story -- why he switched sides, how he wound up in Uruk -- would go a long way in elevating his status from a local thug. LOL....I can't believe I'm actually asking for a stronger 'villain.' Usually I just want them to disappear.

The issue I have with DOTS, is that the writers have failed to give the viewers a solid overarching storyline – the main challenge or villain, if you will – that typically spans an entire drama series. While I don’t expect strong antagonists in every k-drama, I did expect it from a military and medically driven melodrama.

Essentially you’ve got two top notch teams working together, to combat day-to-day challenges that arise in a war stricken country. But what is the underlying reason and/or core trial, the protagonists are supposed to face, while in said country? Usually just a couple of episodes into a series, we’re given this answer. Or at the very least, a general idea that there is a bigger picture at work – manipulating, plotting and pulling all of the pieces of the drama together.

But after 10 episodes, all we’ve gotten is some local gang causing trouble, and a hint there is possibly someone above them, calling the shots. If that is all its going to be, then fine – I was just expecting more intrigue and behind-the-scenes maneuvering from DOTS, given the genre and the first couple of action-packed episodes.

Oh well…no drama is perfect, and this one is certainly far better than some of the ones I’ve watched in the past. The romance, the cast, and the occasional action scene featuring our sexy special ops team kicking ass, is enough to keep me entertained.

The first episode put a smile on my face. The relationship between Cha Sik and his mother is goals. So glad that Ji Soo chose this drama -- I'm enjoying how optimistic and adorable his character is. And the other two main leads are equally fantastic as well. Already wishing this was longer than 3 eps!

This drama is really fantastic so far. Surprised at the 8.2 rating right now -- it's way better than that!
while i personally rarely rate a drama until it's over, i actually don't mind the ratings while it's airing. it gives me a general consensus of how folks feel about the drama. if it's below 8.0, i'll watch it anyways if the story/actors interest me. if it's above 8.0, i'll give it a shot even if the story/actors aren't my cup of tea. i do however, get annoyed when folks rate a drama before it airs, or is only 1 or 2 episodes in. at that point it's just fandom ratings--for and against particular actors.

Why do people who don't like this drama feel the need to comment about it all the time? You don't like it and…
Everyone has a right to an opinion. I personally have a love/hate relationship with DOTS. Sometimes I think this drama is great (all due to the loveliness of SJK), but most other times I'm highly annoyed at the overused cliche trophs. But, whatever -- it's kdrama. In the end, I respect all comments as long as they refrain from profanity and outright bashing. If someone loves the drama -- let them rave about it! If someone is dissatisfied, then let them post however many times they want, that they dislike it. It's just an opinion...freedom of speech and all that. Viewers are free to skip these comments. However annoying and redundant negative posts can be, we also need to read these opposing views to keep things in perspective.

I was so happy when Sam Dong and Go Hye Mi fell for each other in Dream High. It was one of my first kdramas -- so little did I know that second leads rarely get the girl! Fast forward years later to Reply 1994. Logically I KNEW that second leads were sinking ships....but I stubbornly kept hoping (and praying) that Chilbong would end up with Na Jung. That it didn't happen, still annoys me. With Reply 1988, I grew to love both male leads so I was fine with whomever Doek Sun chose in the end. But admittedly, I secretly hoped she would end up with Taek....(Park Bo Gum fan over here).

can this drama get any better? ep 15 was heartbreaking. i cried when Hae Yeong's brother wasn't saved and when Hae Yeong realized that asking Jae Han to save his brother, was the cause of his sunbae's demise. every actor is doing so well in their character portrayals, and the writers have been spot on with the script/plot. i just can't get enough of this drama--so sad we only have one ep to go! don't want it to end. :(

Can I just say I liked the character who spoke English the most in this drama. It was not only good English but…
you must have been watching on viki. the comments about him were hilarious...i actually liked him too, even if he was a pain in the a*s most of the time.

Despite loving Jung Kyung Ho, I found this drama somewhat dull. It was fun to watch in the beginning and then it kind of fizzled out for me. I kept fast working to scenes with the other couples...especially Jung Woo and Dong Mi. They were so adorable together.

What a precious drama. The story was sometimes a bit lacking and some of the acting could have been better, but overall there was something about it that kept me watching week after week. And that ending was so sweet. I'm going to miss the ShiWoo / ChiAng bromance.

I'm excited for all of the dramas you listed!!! Descendants and Ajusssi are really good so far. And Lee Jin Wook is a personable favorite....so I will definitely be watching Goodbye Mr Black! I love Kim Woo Bin, so I'll give Uncontrollably Fond a try...but I wish someone other than Suzy was the opposite lead. :(

Great article! When I'm in a slump, sometimes I turn to variety shows or will watch movies my favorite actors are in. I still have issues with dropping dramas, however -- I feel guilty not being able to follow them until the end. And I completely agree about watching dramas from different countries -- not only do you benefit from exposure to other cultures, but many times making the switch has been my primary source of salvation from a slump. Finding a 'drama partner' however has yet to be successful -- and quite honestly, I could care less at this point. If you watch on viki, it's almost like having friends with you. The comments are non-stop hilarious and you don't have to explain why you like asian dramas!! lol
