this movie is difficult to watch, but necessary. it shows us the atrocities people are capable of committing against others --- especially during war time.
i wanted to like this one, but the acting was pretty bad. it's also my first time watching ji il joo.... throughout…
i just finished age of youth. jij is better in that drama, but he still has this weird smile that often looks forced. it's just my personal opinion though...there are some actors that you can't warm up to, and jij is one of them for me unfortunately.
i would have loved to be a fly on the wall when the writer was coming up with all of the crazy sh*t that is happening in this drama. as W has progressed, the plot has become more chaotic, even slightly frenzied -- but all in a good way. W is pushing the envelop when it comes to fantasy genre, taking you on an adventure of non-stop twists and turns (if you can keep up with them! lol). the high-energy dynamic, and not knowing what will happen next, has made W so much fun to watch! the rules are as limitless as the writer's creativity -- and from what i've seen, she isn't holding back any punches!
What a lovely drama. I cried and laughed right along with the characters. My only regret is that I waited this long to watch it. The pacing was on point, the storytelling was beautiful and the actors were phenomenal. Truly one of the best dramas of 2016. This is a 10 for me.
I think IU is doing perfectly fine -- certainly no worse than many lead actresses cast in your average kdrama. Sure they could have used a more experienced female lead, but I think with LJG and KHN playing her opposite, that she's in great hands and will do okay.
Regarding the non-lead princes, hopefully as the show progresses and they are shown in more one-on-one scenes, the initial awkwardness will disappear. Even Ji Soo who has done brilliantly in other dramas, seems a little out of his element in this one --- and naturally so. In just the first episode, we've got scenes with a WHOLE lot of princes trying to juggle screen time and lines. So it doesn't surprise me that their pacing isn't quite there yet.
The Chinese version handles this aspect better because they have the luxury of 35 episodes. They slowly and naturally introduce the princes, as well as give them more individual screen time and lines. This goes a long way in helping an actor round out his role and showcase their acting skills.
we've gotten some amazing dramas this year and it's only august! W so far, is doing brilliantly with all of the crazy twists and turns...and still keeping it credible as far as fantasy genres go. absolutely loving the rollercoaster ride!
This drama doesn't begin to shine until about the 7th episode...but once it picks up momentum, the viewers get a pretty solid drama. Entertainment value-wise, it's certainly comparable (if not better) than currently airing dramas. So it's kind of disappointing that they cut it by a couple of episodes due to low ratings. I'm just thankful the writers/director were able to pull off a fantastic ending, and that the cut didn't affect the overall story.
I have a question , does it have romance? Or it's only about crimen and police?
very little romance. the drama from beginning to end focuses on the scams, how the con artists play them out, and the stumbling blocks they encounter (and overcome) along the way.
this drama is downright cheesy...but im still having a blast watching it. as others have mentioned, the costumes and backdrop scenery are beautiful -- making it worth a watch so far. let's see if the acting/dialogue gets better....otherwise not sure if i can hang in there for 62 eps.
Admittedly, some parts were frustrating and they could have ended this at 16 eps (isn't that usually the case?), but I still enjoyed the overall drama. That ending was so touching -- really loved it.
nice movie, but i would have liked to see more of the front end of se jin's journey of self-actualization. for example, explaining why he became so self-destructive (or was he always this way) and showing rock bottom when he realizes that his immature actions led to his manager's death, societal ostracization, psychological loss of his voice and career death.
for senseless entertainment this drama is good. no better than porn. I heard many guys are into Hye Jung. Clear…
@ arielle -- that's what you should have shared initially. providing an opposing view and explaining why you disagree with a commentator, in my opinion, is always better (and nicer)...and it gives everyone something to think about.
