This drama was terrible. In my opinion, Lee Min Ho is not the best actor (sorry LMH fans!!), but so far he's managed to star in much better dramas that know how to build on his strengths. So it made me wonder why the heck he opted to pick up 'Heirs' in the first place. In the end, the only reason I continued to watch it was because of Kim Woo Bin. He was utterly fantastic! Great article by the way. And you're right....there was something about the drama that was addictive, despite all of the 'ad nauseum' cliches. The drama certainly had its moments, but unfortunately not enough to make an impact.
Kind of disappointed with this drama. When it's not jumping all over the place, it's just outright dull. I'm giving it until ep 6, because I like the actors...otherwise this is going into the R.I.P. pile.
this was ridiculously cheesy....and some parts made me cringe....but i still loved every minute of it! it's the power of got7!. lol but seriously, i wish the writers hadn't rushed the ending! hope to see jb and jin young in more dramas. they still have a ways to go acting wise--but you can see that given more experience, they'll improve. i was also pleasantly surprised with the choi woo sik cameo--even if it was only 2 seconds! :)
Lee Je Hoon, Kim Hye Soo and Jo Jin Woong are killing their roles! Their fantastic acting and the plot so far has me hooked. Can't wait to see how the rest of the drama unfolds.
I really enjoyed Choi Wook Shik and Kim Hee Jung's acting in this special. The drama is funny and kind of cheesy in the beginning, but by the end the mood turns more serious as it becomes a coming-of-age story for Joong Shik. Some folks may not like the ending, but I feel it fit the drama. Anything else and it would have felt too cliche and forced. Definitely worth watching.
I put this on hold a while back and I'm kicking myself! This drama was absolutely brilliant. The actors were fantastic and the story was unique. Thank you writers for giving us such a creatively written, funny and thought provoking drama.
it would be interesting to actually do a poll on this...kind of like the one MDL does with best dramas of the year. have folks nominate their top 3, tally it up, and then put up the top 10 for voting. i wonder which one would actually get the most over rated vote?
i actually enjoyed all of the dramas listed in the article. but after watching so many cliched rom-com's, admittedly, my expectations and standards have lowered considerably. so if i want a more substantial story, i turn to crime/thriller or historical dramas. but you're list certainly got me thinking about all of the stinkers i've forced myself to watch just because i had to see what the hype was about. cough**heirs**cough comes to mind
i really enjoyed this drama. the story sucked me in right from the beginning. of course, the ending left me scratching my head...but that's part of the drama's charm. lol i was impressed with top's acting and i'm glad he's exploring different types of roles. and of course juri ueno is always fantastic. thanks for the article! well written.
this drama's gonna give me an ulcer, it's stressing me out so much. but i can't stop watching because its so flippin' good -- even with the crazy writing.
This is ridiculous waiting 15 years to do something about it!! I really don't like the main lead's character,…
@Marooya apologies. your wording made me misinterpret some of what you were trying to say. yes, it's not realistic that no one in the police department listened to him and that the case is now being handled 15 years later. but it's a kdrama--i prepare myself to be frustrated whenever i start one--it's part of the fun. okay, not always. :)
why can't he watch the mom? he obviously feels tremendous guilt, because he can't do more for her. outwardly it appears as if he's moved on with his life, but inwardly, i think he is emotionally scarred and is still trying to come to terms with the past. and from one of the flashback scenes they showed us, it appears he also suffered some other traumatic experience as a child.

@Nanotao Yes, it's definitely nonsense that the police never followed up on the boy's story when the girl was kidnapped and then again when he kept returning during his teenage years. but my comment was directed at the statement implying that hae young's later actions as an adult were inexcusable because he seemed to wait until 29 hours before the expiration to make the police listen. of course, i could have misinterpreted that...

realistically you can't expect too much from a scared little kid. he tried to tell the police and they didn't listen. even the adult detective (jae-han) working the case, couldn't convince the higher ups to investigate further. whenever he sees the mother, it seems like hae young feels true guilt from being unable to do more for her. but like many of us would have done, he eventually gives up trying to make the police listen, and moves on with his life.
fast forward to the present, he doesn't necessarily 'wait 15 years to do something about' the case. a supernatural phenomena coincidentally enables him to find the skeleton. without that event and resulting new evidence, hae young would have just continued living his life and the real killer would have remained free.
but when hae young sees that the police aren't going to re-investigate, even with new physical evidence pointing to a different murderer, this is the pivotal point when he decides to make the police accountable to the public, and announces what he knows to the reporters. in my opinion, pretty admirable. even with only a few days left, he probably feels the mother deserves the truth and full police cooperation to find the killer, rather than a pack of lies.
Fantastic start. Pretty excited for the rest of the drama. Especially loved how they kept flipping the scenes between the past and the present. I thought I'd be completely lost, but the directors did an excellent job staying on point.
So many dramas, not enough time! Already enjoying Cheese in the Trap, Moorim, Remember and a couple of other k-dramas. Never Let Me Go and a few other j-dramas look pretty interesting. The issue is some of the less popular j-dramas sometimes take a while to get subbed---I might wait until they finish airing. Definitely looking forward to this season!
