Seems like both the director and the screenwriter aren't well known. From his past works I would bet there will be comedy involved.

I think as long as the director, screenwriter and the company in charge are good the drama will probably be good.

I guess this explains a bit why xu kai acepted to do a cultivation drama which are generally bad. At first I thought it was because snow eagle lord is a very popular novel and anime, but the script is a mess. It is good that unlike most cultivation dramas the tone of the drama isn't childish but the story isn't that great...

that sounds like an awfull contract. Did he piss someone off enough that they would try to screw wonderland of love? Because several people talked about weird problems related to its advertising.

I would bet he choses some but others are imposed. That is the only explanation to explain some of the dramas he has chosen.

If sword and fairy has a big budget it will probably be his biggest drama ever. Not only is the chinese paladin franchise quite big but he also has a famous FL contrary to alp, legends (at the time) or once upon a time.

And he will also play 2 characters acording to what some people say.

I would hardly say that he received many tips. FDB learned the internal technique (that didn't have much impact), a few tips in a competiton and developed his own sword technique out of nowhere.

And I think the most refreshing thing about this drama is that it is a wuxia detective drama where all leads can fight and care about traditonal wuxia stuff. Because dramas with a genious lead incapable of fighting solving crimes are very common.

I completly agree with you and the drama about LLH story arc and it was interesting to see.
But FDB brought the typical wuxia feel to the drama. That is also an important factor that makes the drama so good. And while LLH wouldn't be a normal master there is no reason why he couldn't give tips to FDB when he sees him practicing or disguise himself in order to practice and teach FDB once or advising FDB to learn a specific martial art because it would be useful for him..

Even DFS could have thought FDB something in exchange for FDB having paid for his body for example.

I had a simillar discussion because of llx and tteotm. Someone considered llx the greatest and that xu kai was wooden and unable to express emotions.

I have no idea how anyone can think that because he has to be a comedian in several of his first roles. His roles in legends and once upon a time show that he has range and can act in very distinct roles.

Even in this drama we saw him going from light and funny to serious and dramatic. The way he carried the show in the last eps show that now he is a very good actor.

but throughout the drama fdb could have received tips from the ML or other characters about how to improve his techniques. They could have found some manual for a very strong technique and one the other main leads could have helped him train it.

To be a great wuxia it needed that element.

the second ml is a beginner. There should have been arcs about him inheriting some martial arts or being trained by the ml.

in some cases I agree that it looks more like saying "this lead role is booked" even if it might take years for the drama to be released. But in other cases the projects are clearly on an advanced stage.

But it is strange that xu kai can be filming a new drama and a page on MDL wasn't created months ago.

Good drama, but it lacks focus on the lead characters developing their martial arts. That is almost an afterthought. I think less criminal minds and more martial arts training would make the drama much better

Xu kai doesn't. And from his MDL page even if he is filming a new drama now, until the end of 2025 it is unlikely that he will release more than 4 dramas (at most he can release 5).

That would make him release 2 dramas per year for at least 3 years. It is a decrease of what he has been doing.

I think it is sadder that there are so few watchers and raters.

looking at the dates of the filming photos abay should air before his other drmas scheduled for 2023. I think that whoever predicted this drama to air this year was being VERY optimistic. I bet it will be a summer drama of 2024

But that is the normal for chinese dramas. It is incomprehensible to give that end to any show. If the director wanted to end in a clifhanger then he just had to have one important villain alive and saying that they will seek revenge.

I think it is normal for most people to lose interest given the excessive amount of conversations in the first half of the drama. And the fact that the ml's sister is a clown doesn't help. And the ml...

This drama would be much better if the 2ml and 2fl were the leads. Their story is just much better.
