Unless huge budgets are involved at most they are on the same level. And I think the synopsis for wol and sel are more interesting that the shows you mentioned (lyf is specialy bad and tlp seems simillar to wol but enemies to lovers seems better than master-student forbiden love)

even if you don't like their acting I think that casting those guys shows that the producers are trying to give a good show. Otherwise they could cast some unknown actors that look pretty.

But I think it is coming back to me. In alp 1 of xu kai's character was wooden but the second version was pretty normal, and the third evil asshole but I think he had facial emotions (don't really remember).

I almost chosed the heavenly sword and world something sabre over tboy. But I think tboy is much more recent.

cgi I don t agree. In all those the cgi is pretty good to the point that it is hard to be better.

xu kai doesn't have face paralysis! and the actor that played the devil in lbfad did an excelent job. that is kind of unanimous, And the actor from bw isn't also one of the hot shots in china? he can't be that bad...

About TBOY don't you mean they had the same costumes? because it didn't look cheap. But tteotm has a huge variety (like several costumes per ep) that other dramas don't have. I give you that. And obviously the acting wasn t on the same level, but we didn't have a character like ttj.

edit: by the way in alp xu kai also played 3 or 4 versions of the same character and all of them were pretty diferent.

those were just examples where the technical stuff was on the same level as this one.

I think all those 4 are actually pretty good. Probably the worst for me is blood of youth (even though I think ml in alp was in asshole mode for too many eps).

we can't have lss trying to kill ttj on their wedding night and saying she hates him and it was all a lie, then the tower scene where she doesn't want to see him again ever, then in the immortal arc she says their past was a dream and doesn't matter and pushes him away and after revealing their lives to all sects somehow they become engaged in the next moment? you need some scenes of lss convincing ttj that she loves him despite everything she said. Those never existed.

How the immortals blame ttj for everything all the time without any proof.

How xiao lin went from being in love with lss to loving/having sex with mo nv in a episode.

How fu ya and tjj sidekick disapeared from the story.

what was the point of showing the emperor without explaining how he is alive or why he uses a mask or how he is the emperor after 500 years...

most of the immortal arc isn't of the same quality as the rest of the drama. And as the immortal arc is the last arc it has the most weight.

But the pay off is also important. Like all the sufering, betrayals and effort to be worthy of love must have some kind of pay off.

we have no idea what the whole world thinks of ttj, too few moments where lss showed she loved him, no redemption arc in where lss tried to make amends for the awfull things she said to ttj in the mortal world or ep 39...

Most of the conversation between ttj and lss after she became a god lacked emotion.

I think you should stay at ep 36.
almost nothing good will happen afterwards. But there are some epic scenes (not a lot)

And it isn't a happy open ending.
It is a bad (there are a lot of characters we have no idea what happens to them or the world as a whole)
sad (because it is sad)
not really open ( it is only open in the sense of we know nothing)

I think it is also needed to take into account that the quality of the story until the first episodes of the immortal arc is MUCH better than the last episdoes.

with the cuts and edits or whatever a lot of the motivations of several characters got lost. we can't have lls pushing ttj away 1 ep and the next one getting engaged to him without them have some kind of breaktrough in their relationship. Or how nobody needs any proof to blame ttj for everything. or other simillar things.

I think they were edited in the incorrect order
the only reused footage should be the ml and the dragon. I remember I couldn't stand those scenes anymore by the end of the novel.

well lss died once!
and all that pain, angst and sufering is the reason why this show needed a full happy ending like the novel.
