agree with you on the incomplete feeling for the translations, and yes some translations are intentionally romantically-painted, some unintentional but with similar effects.

i looked at the link you shared - definitely has the mutual respect and bonding vibes (comradery?). Saying love to a male friend in general is awkward (i only speak for Asian culture), so i can relate to that - has got to do with male perception in society/culture currently. like, it's difficult to even say 'love' to parents and children in Asian culture.

i'd suggest she kick her brother out of the room - poor pat will have no place to stay.

i vaguely recall seeing in a BTS that Jimmy (Wai) mentioned almost every recurring male cast (except for just 2 dudes) on set has kissed/pecked him - he seems to be very well liked by the younger boys (he's the oldest recurring actor on set)

it make sense cos the studio will have to hit certain KPIs for viewship ratings as part of their contracts etc - answerable to sponsors, and credibility of production crew as well

im just looking at the chinese series vote numbers ratings and they look ridiculous - like my first reaction is that the top voted chinese shows dont deserve it and the votes are fake/bought.
(in my opinion and scores on prominent chinese drama rating sites do show it too..)

i just hope people dont view 'bad buddy series' in that same light .. that'll be horrible.

**disclaimer is that i've never thought well of such awards cos it's all dark and shady behind the judges/organisers' seats, so many ways to do funky stuff

I think one of the reasons why we are all so attracted to this show is because of the acting and directing. I understand that they both are majoring in acting and directing - is this common in thailand for young actors? (they take acting pretty seriously as an art, from the various videos i see)

the time skip to second year means that much flirting has happened and neither of them decided to budge - director decided to show this in parallel when Wai was storytelling the stage play they were doing - would have been helpful if they'd had shown clearer about the amount of time they spent from the camp till now.. perhaps it doesnt come intuitively to us cos we're not thai and dont understand the school context there. But i do like this way of storytelling cos it's fresh and it doesnt drag the plot - the whole point was to tell us they did spend some time together till 2nd year.

For the 'hold hands at bustop' scene - it would make sense if it was a few seconds longer, like to show the two gangs meeting at the pavilion, and Pat trying to hold Pran's hands as a joke/tease and then they enjoyed it for 0.5 sec before splitting b4 the friends find out (exciting). It's not a boyfriends-holding hands thing, but a tease.

i too think that a lot is packed into this episode - perhaps they had a hard episode limit and duration!

for no. 5, i felt that Pat's emotions and Pran's frustrations weren't resolved? (feels like a scene or some lines are missing)

not sure if it's just me --- even if Pat swallowed his pride/discomfort and decided to get over it, it'd have been nice to have shown that process of him dealing with it before meeting Pran at the rooftop later on.

AND even before this - why did Wai return Pran's guitar to Pran? feels like *another* missing scene where Pran asks Wai to return the guitar - which represents Pran's view towards having feelings for Pat. Previously, Pran wanted to lock it away from his sight when he was unsure/confused about Pat's feelings with him. Pat just happened to come by for a facial wash ad when Wai decided to waltz by to return the guitar.

if it were me, i'll round it out by adding a scene where Pat realises/gets to know that Pran gave away the guitar because he was hurt and confused, but later chose to take it back from Wai because Pran's perspective towards Pat has changed. ----> then the choosing to 'take revenge' lovingly on Pran at the rooftop by teasing Pran to confess in public makes sense.
