Title Remember: War of the Son Spoiler
Woah. Episode 16 was... confusing to say the least. Is it me or things are happening way too fast? It felt heavy,…
More love for Judge Seok Gyu here !! even though he's longtime friends with Nam Gyu Min & his assistant, he isn't willing to turn a blind eye to sketchy things they may have done. He seems like the only character who fights for the real side of truth and justice. Which is why he's always questioned Jin Woo I suppose, after seeing him tell off that girl the way he did outside the court that time. What's impressive is even Nam Gyu Min wouldn't even try to recruit or persuade him, on the contrary he seems careful not to raise his suspicion because he knows his friend will never back down for justice. I think he'll look good with In Ah, they're closer in age + signs that he's interested in her

Am I the only one bothered by some referring to this as Chinese "Dae Jang Geum"? First off, while the profile of the character sounds similar.. a woman breaking traditions of gender to become an imperial doctor and romantic interest with the emperors etc etc ... enough has been given away from trailers to make the story sound very different already.

I can count on one hand how many people aren't betrayers yet. keyword YET.
If we were to start this from the very beginning I don't think anyone would make it alive to see the ending lol :p

I think this is one of the best drama's I've seen in a while and very heartbreaking. It has a great cast and plot-line.…
I'm glad writers didn't shove any love story between them down our throats ..at least up at this point. There really isn't much development there, nor does it make sense to start developing any now. Perfectly fine by me, in fact that's one thing I can appreciate about the drama is them staying focused on the central plot - the 'big picture' consistently and what actually matters, instead of things like love/romance which the world doesn't actually revolve around despite what the trends of Kdrama have us believe at times. In fact the reason why I picked this up was because the story sounds compelling enough on its own, without the need for other elements which would only take away from the bigger picture. And I was hoping they wouldn't stray off the course from that, which up to this point they did a good job with.

Hahhhaha you're right, it definitely IS silly and cheesy. But yea at least his dad died remembering "better times", is a much better way to go than supposedly from death sentence. YES! When he towers over NGM and says those things that make him shit his pants, I get the chills. But then looking back to all those times he could've had him then and there if only he hadn't shown the world what evidence he has on the guy ..well we all know how that ends eventually.

Let's turn this into a drinking game. Take a shot everytime someone betrays (or better yet when they reveal what evidence they have on the bad guys TO the bad guys). We're all bound to get wasted ..

I don't necessarily hope for a happy ending, the fact that this is a melodrama is what I came in expecting and from many melodramas I've seen before, it ends as one. But I just hope there's a fair ending for Jin Woo in that at least justice is served. That's all I really hope to see. And I want to clarify my idea of a decent ending for Jin Woo is simply that, achieving what he's fought for all this time and is racing against time to complete:. bring justice to those who deserved it. There is no way around his condition, and it is an unfolding tragedy that is only a matter of time so there won't be a happy ending in that which I'm okay with. In fact anything otherwise would just be downright stupid and forced. (Tho keep in mind we have bunch of medical 'experts' that is writers who somehow were able to make his hyperthymesia relevant to his early onset Alzheimers, wouldn't rule anything out yet) I would be pretty darn satisfied if it ended like this: him bringing Nam Gyu Min down before he can barely even recall his own name.

That's the thing. I don't even mind him having eFAD because let's just say he does happen to be that extreme rare case of being diagnosed with it in his 20's. But the fact that his hyperthymesia is accelerating it, when it is completely irrelevant and impossible to do so. That's too much. They are better off NOT making that link, and just say "yes he's gifted with photographic memory but unfortunately also inherited extreme case of eFAD" instead of his hyperthymesia kicking him while he's down with the efAD.

It's so good to see more positive comments about this drama here. I too thought it is one of the best Kdramas I've ever seen, and it's got so much more to offer than your typical Kdrama - usually some romcom with every possible cliche and tons of squealworthy moments. Ain't gonna get any of that here, but what you will have is an intense story portraying the struggle between both the better and darker sides of what it means to be human, that will keep you on your toes. Yoo Seung Ho is the star of this drama and how he captures the maturity of a kid forced to grow up in a harsh world where money/power does a lot of talking, quite like the way he does is a feat very few young K-actors are capable of. Clearly the producers felt YSH was up to that task and he definitely doesn't disappoint. Best part is he's still incredibly young and can still get so much better. As for the melodrama, I think there are mostly two kinds of people here, those who either 1) like you said, came in expecting cute romance and feel good story but left severely disappointed with anything, or 2) understand this is a melodrama and that shit is bound to hit the fan but still hold out on some kind of decent or happy ending for Jin Woo as the poor guy literally went through hell and back (and possibly back to hell). Personally? I have no complaints whichever way the show ends, because it is such a fantastic drama after all is said and done despite some inconsistencies in writing. Though not gonna lie a decent/fair ending for Jin Woo would help with the many broken hearts (mine included haha), and also because YSH was SO good that I felt like we as audience went through to hell and back WITH him (not just merely watching him go thru all that.).

Everytime I watch this drama, I almost forget what it means to be happy and hope sounds like a myth to me. So I wanna recall one of the few "happier" moments here! Just before Jin Woo's dad dies, he suddenly remembers everything clearly and recalls a lot of happy memories with Jin Woo. Knowing that was his last conscious memory before he fell into the coma that led to his death, "warms" my heart...because ya know, at least he died "happy". Then of course Jin Woo winning the lawsuit case against the bad guys for once, going from Jin Woo 0 Nam Gyu Min 3232531535 to Jin Woo 1 (FINALLLY) Nam Gyu Min 3232531535 ... damn it feels good. Anyone wants to share theirs?

Yup that's it eFAD. I don't think the drama has confirmed if it was eFAD but the age his father developed it at is considered young enough to be an early onset case. eFAD usually strikes around 40s-50s. So yea even if Jin Woo did inherit eFAD from dad (as eFAD is pretty much hereditary compared to other regular cases of Alzheimers) him having it at 20 is just downright near impossible. Like you said it's winning lottery twice in a month - hell even three times, and even then you probably have a higher chance with that. And like pointed out earlier, hyperthymesia is completely irrelevant to Alzehimers. Which means we have a bunch of writers who are apparently also medical "professionals". (Neither am I but hey at least I aint writing a TV drama here) Definitely writers pushing too hard for something that just seems forced for the sake of melodrama :/

Why do I get this bad feeling that Park Dong Ho is going to end up dying closer to the finale? Much like that…
Not alone on that one! His storyline just has that tragic hero waiting for redemption written all over it

Actually Alzheimer's is pretty much hereditary in a lot of cases and yes people can develop Alzheimers at a relatively young age such as in their 40s (anything younger is rarer) is called early onset Alzheimers.
