Cecilia's acting is tolerable. But I would love for her as positive and lively woman not acting cutesy. As per…
I think Cecilia acted her character out as positive and lively than cutesy, but you're right Xin Yue is best when she is spontaneous and carefree! Even though she was never one to manipulate others and their feelings, I also felt that she DID even without realizing, use Jiu Ye's feelings more than once to get him to help her. Honestly a man like Jiu Ye doesn't and probably will never exist, but the love he had for her was the greatest thing.
This show was so awesome because of the cast who really brought each their characters to life ! Eddie and Hu Ge nailed it, Cecilia was a good fit
I just want to know if it has a happy ending. I dont mind a few tragedies but I feel like most of these dramas…
Okay this drama made me a Hu Ge fan !! I couldn't get over his character ... you'll love this drama and all the characters are awesome even if our boy Hu Ge doesn't get the girl :)
His role of Tatsuya remains one of my favorite characters to grace TV ever. I am convinced nobody can be Tatsuya as charming, funny and touching all the same as he did. Under One Roof is one of the Japanese classics not only because of the story, but more so the perfect casting, and imo Eguchi is the gel that held the strong cast together. It is one of his earlier dramas and i remember thinking how you can tell some people like him, are simply born to act. I recently rewatched Under One Roof and was reminded of why it was such a deal back then and still comes up as a Jdrama classic. Of course an-chan was super handsome then, and still is now in his mature charm kinda way :)
Do they ever make mention of the characters from Sound of the Desert?
They appear in the drama but unless you know beforehand (perhaps from the novel) who they are you wouldn't know their relationships to each other based on the drama.
Sooo for those interested DramaFever recently added this onto their site, with full on Eng subs and HD quality. Sooo happy I get to watch my favorite C-drama in the best quality site possible !
I'm on my 15th episode. And I'm on the brink of dropping this.
Why am I not enjoying thiiiis? :(
Don't feel pressured to enjoy this just because of the hype! I personally LOVED this drama to bits, and I wouldn't want for anyone to be forced to keep up just so to believe in the hype. Not every great drama is everyone's cup of tea:)
I am absolutely loving the acting, politics and plot in this drama. The acting soo well done and chemistry is fabulous and Yoo Ah In steals the attention everytime he's onscreen. Such a commanding actor and oh so handsome to look at. Writers definitely did a great job of doing what they set out to do...tell the perspective of a historical figure viewed ever so differently by history. It's quite the story they have created here as people will find themselves rooting for Jang Ok Jung .. the same evil concubine in the drama Dong Yi who we all felt had it coming when she finally got hers !
The production investment for this drama is nearly 250 million yuan (~$40 million) Drama is being featured at…
I'm wondering if this has been sold to Japan because of the appeal of Yoona. I don't recall Chinese dramas being that popular in Japan or imported much with the exception of Legend of Zhen Huan and maybe Prince of Lan Ling. Also this drama really isn't anything special other than the grand budget invested in it, it seems to me it's all style but no substance. If anything there are lots of good Chinese dramas out there, with some very exceptional ones (eg: Nirvana In Fire, Scarlet Heart etc) and those don't even catch much tide outside of China it seems.
It is so funny how this show mocks korean dramas. And I can't stop laughing when the crown prince is wearing his…
This show is not mocking korean dramas. In fact, the main character is obsessed with korean dramas and make lots of kdrama references like when calling people "oppa" while flirting XD if anything it is parody of young chinese people's obsession with kdramas and hallyu lol
I really did not expect this to be as hilarious and entertaining as it turned out !! Zhang Tian Ai as Zhang Peng…
production was definitely tight on funds for this one! I read somewhere that the costumes and props were all bought off the internet, like something you would find off Alibaba or Taobao. The actresses all did their own/each other's makeup and the leads supported some of the budget out of their own pockets. For example they also couldn't hire singers for the OST (as most Cdramas hire real well-known singers) so Sheng Yi Lun the actor for Crown Prince had to sing the OSTs (which I can't stop listening...his real voice is lovely for singing :D)
This drama is proof that you don't need to be high budget to be good. All it takes is a decent cast, creativity and making the best out of what you have ! A lot of Chinese dramas with higher budget don't even compare to this one when it comes to capturing the audience
I really did not expect this to be as hilarious and entertaining as it turned out !! Zhang Tian Ai as Zhang Peng Peng is gorgeous, quirky and charismatic - her acting chops and humor are all the difference to this drama !! She is sizzling with the male lead - they make one fine OTP. Don't take anything seriously and keep in mind this is VERY low budget and you'll thoroughly enjoy this !! Yet considering how low budget the drama is, it is successful mostly thanks to the acting, chemistry and humor, as well as the storyline. Probably the biggest surprise of the year as nobody expected how popular it became ! I genuinely wish bright futures for the young charming (and ridiculously good-looking) cast ..especially Zhang Tian Ai girl just became my new fave actress <3
There's so much winds involved in this low budget drama (that apparently only has one sponsor which is a Viagra…
I actually thought male lead (Sheng Yi Lun) was pretty decent. Keep in mind this guy is a fashion model with his first try at acting, and imo he's already better than a lot of young actors out there. Because of this a lot of people have been singing nothing but praises for him, he just needs a bit more experience to build depth as an actor. If he's ever wooden I think it has more to do with the character. Notice how once he put down that royal facade, and was allowed to show he's human (which was only a handful of times) he does show expression - example, that hilarious Korean scene, and like you mentioned the last scene.
The ending is cliche, predictable BS. There are 100 more ways to get money. The leads chemistry is huge. He is…
Now we know why ! he was even so public about it when he told her on a program: "Honestly, I’m not a greedy person, but once I saw you, I realized what I really wanted to possess."
I think Hu Ge is a very capable actor. Most people doesn't like him because his roles usually are fools, but if…
Hu Ge is probably the most successful idol turned serious C-actor I can think of. He's so incredibly versatile its amazing to think Li Xiao Yao, Jing Tian, Guo Jing etc is played by the same person who gave us Mei Changsu, Ming Tai or Mo Xun. His depth is incredible and if you thought he was good during his CP days he's even better now
i want to start this drama but it has so many episodes and i don't know.. is it good? should i start it? :/ :/…
It may be 50 but it does go by especially the first 20 or so episodes. If you're in it for Wallace and LSS then there is sweet chemistry going on that you probably wouldn't wanna miss
Alright... the ending really made me go WDF. Cause I hate endings like this. Please tell me I'm not the only one…
I think the ending isn''t quite as sad as the one in the book. In fact I'd say is a decent ending considering all the tragedy going on for over half the series, and the final moment that was supposed to happen in the book didn't happen here. Though it is quite open to interpretation if one wants to look at it that way
This show was so awesome because of the cast who really brought each their characters to life ! Eddie and Hu Ge nailed it, Cecilia was a good fit
