I think I liked Chang Ru more than Wei Young. She is incredibly smart. One arrow can kill 2 birds, Chiyun Nan…
Changru is actually the most cunning in this drama. Even the cast all voted Changru as the smartest character in the show. Side note: also can't help but feel Chiyun Nan's actor Jin Han has a soft spot for Tiffany Tang in real life !
I really enjoyed reading your review and overall opinion of the drama, really well wriiten as always Domo :D too…
Hi Dounie! Glad you asked I would rate the first half of the drama 8/10 as it was entertaining enough and had a good flow. Then episode 35 til the end I would give no more than 6/10. The struggle to refrain myself from skipping is real, and I ended up doing that a lot in the last 10 episodes.
Thank you for the wonderful comment dear chingu <3 And yess Luo Jin is so worth watching! it is not due to chance this guy consistently seems to be the best actor in works he has done. And I can't wait to hear your opinion for this drama!
Woah finally finished it! Please have alot of tissue for final EP I'm glad the kid is Wei Young and Tuo Ba…
Definitely a sigh of relief. When it was obvious he wasn't ever gonna touch Changle, I even started to worry it was Changru's. That would be just as horrible
If he does die in the end, I ain't gonna give this a chance :( Still hasn't caught my interest up 'till…
I don't think it's Tuoba Jun and Chang Le's son. Historically and in the novel yes Tuoba Jun and Changle's son inherits the throne after he dies but in this drama, he never touched Changle once.
The episodes in the past week have put Tuoba Jun in the spotlight. And so glad it did because Luo Jin's incredible acting and depth really shows. What an actor ! This guy is so good. Also I wasn't sold on Vanness in the beginning but you can tell how he's grown into his character, the male leads putting up quite the show.
This triggered my addiction again for historical dramas. Yes, indeed the two main lead has great chemistry. I…
If you're looking for Chinese historicals, the ones I cannot recommend enough is Scarlet Heart, Sound of the Desert, and if you don't mind long dramas like super long then Empress of China (90 episodes) or Legend of Zhen Huan (82 episodes but this one was insanely popular and even broadcasted internationally).
Other good historicals are Korean sageuks like Six Flying Dragons, Moon Embracing the Sun, Empress Ki, Sungkyunkwan Scandal, just to name a few I'd highly recommend.
edit: can't believe I forgot to mention Nirvana In Fire is apparently THE historical to watch, if you must absolutely watch any.
I was a big fan of this drama, but honestly the stuff is getting old. The plot is basically "oh how much…
Agreed the last 10-12 episodes is a basic recycle of same conflicts packaged under new guises. With 54 episodes, couldn't they have come up with anything different to keep things interesting? Neither is achieved from episode 33 onwards. They try way too hard to make Weiyoung look good or resilient, you would think she'd become ruthless by now from all the targeting? For a revenge drama, she sure hasn't done much of that nor taught her enemies a lesson not to mess with her once the plot moved out of the Li residence. Now she's another Mary Sue. Sadly I wouldn't even be surprised if it isn't her who brings down her enemies in the end, with the way she is written lately. Now she only seems capable of using her brains to keep herself alive for another day, not out of tacky situations or punishing those who deserve it.
Too bad because this show started off really good, these days it's just repetitive with same ol crap. Still watching for Weiyoung and Tuoba Jun because the pair has amazing chemistry. This drama would've been perfect with 40-45 episodes rather than dragging it to 54 with repetitive tropes, that's how you make people end up hating a show they like.
What's with the rude comments below? Park Hae Jin uses his fame for good causes when he could've just done nothing, and genuinely seems to be appreciative of his fans. He is a great human being, and so talented as an actor I can't believe people will even want to spread lies about him.
the outfits for the male royalty look so korean...
Aside from the headwear net thing which I agree does look VERY Korean, you do know Joseon male royalty clothing is inspired by Ming dynasty, not the other way around right?
So I just realized what novel it's from. Come on now...that loathsome ungrateful nauseating emperor turned…
Ahah out of curiousity all I had to do was read the first page of the novel to understand how different it already is! if you treat the drama version as a different story (which it really is) you might enjoy this drama :)
Luo Jin is quickly becoming a new favorite actor of mine. And I think Wang Likun is another versatile actress, but Da Ji is supposed to be very beautiful - a vixen.
This was really good for the first 10-15 episodes, then it started draggggging. But overall the story is great, characters are some of the best, and acting was strong from the supporting and overall cast. Luo Jin is a real gem here, and I see why this made him a fan favorite/popular actor
Such a refreshing drama, just don't take anything seriously then you're bound to have a good time & stomach hurting from all the laughing. Worth watching (and rewatching) for Crystal Zhang. First drama I've seen this actress and to say I'm impressed is pure understatement, girl is a terrific and natural actress that carried this drama. Didn't think Chinese actresses are strong actors in general, but she will change your mind <3 Girl got popular with even more work lined up since GPG and I couldn't be any happier for her, if anyone deserves it it's her !
If it isnt for the sparks between the main leads...not sure if I find their romance convincing. The lead characters…
Totally agreee like he didn't exactly catch my eye at first glance tho still good-looking, but it didn't take long for me to fall for his charisma <3 and those eyes aren't just amazing when looking at WY longingly, but that particular major scene @ ep34 has me convinced he's the best & most natural actor in this series so far. C-actors/actresses are generally bad at crying scenes, but this guy is a huge exception.
If it isnt for the sparks between the main leads...not sure if I find their romance convincing. The lead characters are amazing on their own, but Wei Young repeatedly shunning & giving TBJ the cold shoulders is getting tiring. Also what exactly has she done to make TBJ go through all that for her? I get it she's intelligent and impressive and anyone who doesn't want her dead is won over by her wits and talents but I'm tempted to believe TBJ's ever growing attraction to her is built on the times she is conveniently the damsel in distress at his every opportunity to save the day. She really has done NOTHING for him so far other than trample over his heart, so their romantic development is more of relentless pursuing (TBJ) brought on by being hard to get (WY). SO frustrating yet with every look TBJ gives WY those damn butterflies in my stomach...can't even. But root for them (while internally screaming at WY to stop being such a b!tch already).
I know Luo Jin isn't "hot" (still very attractive tho) but his character TBJ is a beauty. could watch him look at WY with those eyes all day <3
The rating for Princess Wei Young went down so much:(
Those who create multiple accounts to jack up the ratings for a show, along with the those who rate it a 1 without even watching need to get a life -.- though I have a feeling those who rated it a 1 was trying to bring down the impossibly high ratings.
why do the rating and the number of ratings suddenly drop? yesterday, there are about 1000 ratings and the rating…
I noticed reviews being posted for a lot of airing Korean dramas, but seems like they have now been removed as well. Glad MDL is working hard to get rid of them !
