Do you know who you can trust?

Go into this prepared to completely love the Leads, to enjoy their friends, to absolutely loathe the bullies, & to have mixed feelings about a few others.

A girl trying to figure out the truth behind her twin brother’s supposed suic!de & a boy grappling with the news that he’s terminally ill. They’re both strong individuals who haven’t had easy lives, but how much weight can they handle before they inevitably break under the pressure?

This unlikely duo is about to find out that, even when the world seems to be caving in, having just one person whom you can completely trust in can make a huge difference. And by focusing on being that person for each other, they begin to experience a lessening of the weight of their own sorrow.

This is a gritty story of the dark side of high school. There’s so much hurt & heartache beneath the surface, while the students are just trying to survive & make it to graduation. And while it will make you ache at the pain these youth face daily, it’s not all dark & twisted…

Out of the suffering they’re both facing, a deep bond is formed between the Leads. The unexpected connection helps them endure the pain of living. And in each other they find solace & strength.

Their chemistry is amazing, especially since this isn’t a romance drama. But their words & actions show a deep love for one another that leaps off the screen. 🔥🫠

Their group of friends (& all the stories those teens bring to the story) are such an integral part of the plot. This drama is both the hurt & the cure…

Prepare yourself mentally before pushing play!

So there’s an anti-hero who’s taken justice into their own hands. But their way of doing it is crazy. They hold a vote via text messages! I mean think about that - what would your reaction be if you received these kinds of texts?!

So anyways - when the justice system doesn’t properly handle the seriously messed up people in society, this masked “vigilante” lets the people decide their fate instead - let them live or watch them die. Ironically they never seem to quite grasp that in their quest for “justice” they themselves are becoming villains….

As the interest & participation in this Killing Vote grows, the cops become more desperate to catch the culprit(s). Leading the charge are two complete opposites who’ve never gotten along. This duo starts as enemies with very different opinions on the ethics surrounding the investigation. Overtime, though, as they race to stop the killings, they come to form a bond of partnership that gives hints of brewing romantic feelings. (Are we getting a Season 2??)

Amidst all this there’s a known villain character who is completely psychotic. Honestly, the actor deserves an award for undertaking & owning this role. He was hecka creepy & I absolutely hated him which means the actor did his job phenomenally so kudos to him, seriously!

This is a dark & gritty drama that showcases the twisted side of society & how the mob mentality can have such an impact on people. It’s scary how quickly they voted to end a life, as if they weren’t willingly becoming accomplices in a murder. It should never be so easy to sentence someone to death (even if they 100% deserve it)…

The heroes are operating in the grey. The villains are depraved & fully black. The citizens are pulled into the “game” without knowing all the facts.

When given the option to either save or condemn, what would you choose?

Crazy Love is a very fitting title…

The ML is a total math genius (which is definitely NOT something I can relate to 😂) who’s narcissistic & self-absorbed. He is extremely particular so when anything or anyone doesn’t meet his exact standards, he lashes out. He’s an unpleasant person whom his employees both fear & hate. Though renown & revered in the world of academics, those who know him personally are jealous of his success & eager to see him fail.

The FL, on the other hand, is his total opposite. Lacking in prestige & experience, she allows others to use her, though not always realizing they’re doing so. She’s optimistic & friendly, believing as long as she puts in the hard work, her efforts will be recognized. But when she receives a terminal diagnosis, she takes all her repressed emotions over her career & lays the blame solely at the ML’s feet… & begins to plot revenge. ‘Cause if she’s going down, she’s taking him with her!

And thus much insanity ensues. With them both lying for personal reasons (ML claiming amnesia, FL declaring she’s his fiancée) they’re surprised to find themselves falling into a crazy love.

Personally, I didn’t really enjoy the first half of this show. It was too OTT w/ all the adults acting immature & petty in their quests for revenge. Add the ML’s annoying, delulu ex to the mix & my enjoyment lessened. BUT I’m glad I didn’t add it to my DNF list because the Leads make up for a whole lot of bad once they get together.

Seriously, they’re such a solid couple. Lots of stuff gets thrown at them but neither of them ever waiver. They’re committed to one another & they take their relationship very seriously (as people should!) They had me grinning so much at their total cuteness together - their obvious & constant enjoyment of simply being together gives such couple goals vibes.

There are, of course, those who loved this drama from ep.1 & also those who DNF’d it. But if you’re like me then if you can just make it through their ridiculous antics & make it to their togetherness, I think you’ll find much to enjoy.

Hit or Miss, You Decide

I think I’m in the minority when I say this but I really didn’t care much for this drama (don’t hate me!) And this review is in NO WAY meant to throw shade on any of the cast or others involved in the making - I’m not denying their talents. After reading a review by a viewer who’s fluent in Chinese & familiar with the culture, I think it chalks up to an unfortunate case of there being so much lost in translation for those of us who rely on the subtitles to provide the correct context for the scenes. (And I know translating is hard work so I’m by no means shaming those involved with that!) That reviewer mentioned how the ML was actually really humorous (which definitely didn’t translate through for me) & there being this whole thing around when he would & wouldn’t wear his glasses (which wasn’t at all explained). Anyways - I’m just trying to say that me not enjoying this drama doesn’t mean it’s bad, I think it’s simply that I wasn’t given enough context of the little things to help me understand the story better.

That being said, I will still give some of my thoughts for anyone who’s interested in reading them. 😉

I was excited for this drama as I like both of the Lead actors ( Bai Lu & Dylan Wang). I really tried to stick it out, but I finally gave up at ep.18. Then I completely skipped eps.19-30 & jumped back in at the last few. I really hate doing that but I was just so annoyed with the storyline. I think it had so much unmet potential by adding all the unnecessary drama of the additional love interests, the multiple POV’s, & the workplace drama for both Leads. It all added up to more drama than I like to watch. I also really didn’t like that the FL started pursuing the ML out of a selfish desire for revenge on her ex. That doesn’t say very nice things about her, that she would use him like that. Yes, I know she was acting out of high emotions after catching her boyfriend cheating on her. Yes, I understand that this happens in the real world too. BUT I would’ve preferred she stopped being ruled by her emotions & selfishness much sooner rather than prolonging her game with the ML’s emotions. And I get that he was aware she had a hidden motive behind her sudden interest in him, but it still sucked that while he was developing feelings for her, he also knew he couldn’t 100% trust her because of her schemes/lies. And because of that, he would fluctuate between hot & cold with her. Then, when she knew her feelings for him had turned real & that she genuinely liked him, she chose not to confess ‘cause she knew he’d be mad (& rightfully so!). So she just kept lying, which doesn’t at all scream “I love you” to me. I understand not wanting to lose him, but girl - fess up so y’all can either build something REAL or you can let each other go to find something healthier. Nothing built upon lies can stand the test of time…

Also, side note - he deserved a heartfelt apology. Like, a true & sincere apology from her but, to the best of my knowledge, she never said she was sorry for how she approached him with bad intentions. I think she only ever apologized for work-related things, but never for how she intended to use him for revenge. Just because he forgave her without her having to say the words doesn’t mean she didn’t need to say them or that he didn’t deserve to hear them.

So with all of that there was a lot of push & pull drama which I’m not a fan of. I thought both Leads acted really childishly for adults who were presented as mature & excellent in their respective careers. Their professional & personal personas didn’t mesh for me. Their actions didn’t match their ages (but, again, maybe it’s ‘cause too much stuff got lost in translation.)

Now, having said all that, I DID enjoy it once they finally got together. They stopped being so annoying & became a solid couple with really great, melt-your-screen chemistry. 🫠 (WHYYY couldn’t we have more of that & less of the icky drama?!?) I liked how they cared for each other, the scenes where they protected/defended the other, & the ways they unashamedly loved one another. If they just could’ve been like that for more of the show, I would’ve rated this so much higher!! I even go back & rewatch the eps. after they’re a couple because of how cute they are together.

So I really don’t know whether to recommend this drama to you or not. I’ll simply leave it up to you & advise you go in knowing there’s missing context if you rely on subtitles like me. 🙃

Sweet & Healthy Love Story

When I need a brain cleanse from drama trauma, this is one of the shows I’ll rewatch - seeing these childhood friends reunite as a surgeon & legal intern who fall in love sets my drama world right again.

The ML is a well-established surgeon. Despite his young age, he’s highly respected in his field by his fellow doctors & medical staff. This doesn’t make him arrogant or egotistical, though, as he remains a kind man who truly cares for his patients. He can come across as cold or unfeeling at times but that’s only when someone is trying to interfere in the well-being of his patients. Initially, he’s not happy with the FL’s presence, as her role as a sort of hospital legal liaison between the patients & medical staff tends to be a hinderance to him doing his job. But once he realizes who she is - the young girl he never forgot, the one he’s been hoping would return - everything changes. No longer eager to push her away, he’s now determined to pursue her & guarantee he never loses her from his life again.

The FL is dismayed when she’s assigned to the position at the hospital for her internship. She’s worked so hard to become a lawyer, but it seems this position might stop her from reaching her goal. She’s an optimistic woman, though, who’s determined to secure a position at the law firm so she sets out to tackle the problematic doctor refusing to cooperate with her. Unknown to her, he’s the same boy from her childhood that she’s been missing all these years. And since she doesn’t recognize him, his sudden pursuit of & flirting with her leaves her confused. As she spends more time working in the hospital, she comes to admire his good heart & work ethics. She begins to understand the weight on the doctor’s shoulders & the heavy responsibilities they carry, leading her to become a stronger advocate in defending them against unruly patients.

I truly loved this drama. And each time I rewatch it, I’m reminded of just how great of a dram it is. Did it change my life? No. Does it have a unique storyline? No. Is there some stellar point that makes it stand out from the rest? No. But none of that was what I was looking for or expecting from this drama so I don’t care. I love it for its simplicity & refreshing characters.

I appreciate that there’s not a ton of angsty drama & plot twists. We’re not introduced to love rival after love rival, nor do we have to endure a cast of toxic characters. There’s not any villain-esque family members nor backstabbing colleagues. Sometimes I enjoy those things, but I’m also happy when they’re absent from the show. I’m glad the writer’s left this as an easy & light watch that didn’t give me unnecessary stress from worrying how it will end.

The Leads are so good together. The actors have great chemistry that plays out so well on-screen. They have such a healthy relationship, which is what I expect from two mature adults (though we often don’t get that in our dramas. Bleh.). They’re both kind individuals who want to help those in need - one through medicine, the other with the law. They’re dedicated & not afraid of hard work. They support one another fully & believe in each other unconditionally. The bond they shared as children laid the foundation on which they build their adult relationship. Their backstory is so cute & I loved seeing their childhood scenes play out in parallel to them as adults.

I love how they only ever see each other, no matter if others show interest in them. They each have an interested colleague but when those parties make it known, the Leads immediately make their status clear & leave no room for misunderstandings. I really like when this is done because I hate watching characters cater to the love rivals out of “concern” for their feelings. It just always makes me like, “Um, hello? Your significant other’s feelings are the ones that matter most!” It also just leads to so many misunderstandings that I end up frustrated & annoyed with the Leads, lessening my enjoyment of the show. So again, I’m very glad that wasn’t the case with My Little Happiness. 🤗

I also love how they’re openly affectionate with each other. They’re constantly holding hands, hugging, flirting, cuddling, & kissing. Ooh, boy are they kissing! 🔥🫠 I haven’t actually verified this to be true, but I don’t think an episode goes by without a kiss scene of some sort after they’re a couple. And most episodes have multiple (thank you, writers!) This makes them seem like a real couple. I never understand why some dramas make the Leads all awkward & shy with each other once they start dating. {{I mean, I get it initially but in real life we get over it so why don’t they in some dramas??}} This duo isn’t like that at all. The ML is so head-over-heels for her that he can’t help but physically show it & the FL is all too willing to follow his lead.

It’s nice to see that they’re both super independent & capable in their careers but they allow themselves to be dependent on each other outside of that. Again, a healthy & mature relationship. I love them! 💕

Bonus - the second couple’s story is one that adds to the show rather than simply being a scene filler. Their interactions bring humor to the screen, adding to the smiles the Leads already provide us. And their respective relationships with the Leads (females are besties, males are relatives) are so healthy & realistic that it’s another check mark in the pros column for this drama. ✅

If you’ve read this far & are still unsure, stop hesitating & just push play!

**Fun fact: our Leads co-starred in “Put Your Head on My Shoulder”. She as the female lead, while he was the second male lead. They had a messy relationship in that drama, so it’s actually really fun to watch them be so completely different in this one.**

An Absolute Win in my Book!

{ Let me preface this by first acknowledging that there are a lot of mixed reviews on this drama. so there’s no pressure to agree with anyone else. Maybe you’ll love it or maybe you’ll drop it halfway through, not understanding what all the hype is about.. And ya know what? THAT’S PERFECTLY OKAY! We’re all allowed to have our own opinions about every drama we watch - there’s no right or wrong. 😉 Just know going into this review that I’m firmly in the “I love it” camp! Have questions? Let’s chat about it! }

Being granted a second chance in your current life (ie. being sent back in time to before whatever tragedy struck that brought about your demise) seemed to be a theme in 2024, in both Korean & Chinese dramas. I obviously didn’t watch them all, but a few I find noteworthy are the kdramas, “Marry My Husband” & “Perfect Marriage Revenge”. And the most notable Chinese one for me in this category for the year is this one, “Blossom”. Historical/costume/period dramas are not my usual go to genre, no matter the nationality of origin. But I kept seeing so many people raving about this particular drama & snippets kept showing up in my SM feeds so my interest was piqued & I decided to see what all the hype was about.

Let me just say - the hype is well-deserved because W O W, this drama is beautiful. My interest was immediately caught by the storyline, the cinematography, & the pacing of the scenes. The FL has a very soothing presence with her looks & voice, even in the midst of the upheaval happening around her. She also has a core of strength not usually seen so early on in the female characters which was refreshing. The way she handled herself with poise & dignity upon finding her husband cheating was perfection. She didn’t take it meekly & just resign herself to her fate. Nope, our girl immediately cut ties & left his sorry tush! And it’s this very brave action that leads her on a collision course with the ML.

So if all of the above is what brought me into the story, this man is what kept me there because wowza, he is a commanding presence. His perfect timing in rescuing her, the way the hood of his cloak falls back to revel his identity, & the absolute hotness that it is him with his white-stranded hair, ohhh yessss - I’m a big fan of that scene! 🤤 He is the PERFECT match for our FL in the looks department & his voice is just as soothing & captivating as hers is. [[[ That may be a weird thing to comment on but seriously, a good voice (or voices in this case) can really help elevate my enjoyment of a show. Consequently, my rating can also plummet if there’s an actor whose voice really grates on my ears. ]]]

From the moment their eyes meet, these Leads’ chemistry leaps off the screen & I just knew I was going to have to binge their entire story because I simply had to make sure they got a happy ending. Thank goodness I discovered this show after it was done airing ‘cause it would’ve been absolute torture to wait for new episodes to release! Kudos to all of the viewers who endured that!! 🙌🏻

Sometimes storylines like this (ones with time travel aspects) can get confusing as you swap between past & present timeline, but “Blossom” handled these scene swaps really well, imho. It was always very clear which timeline the scene was from & the majority of the time we’re in the present timeline. Since the FL is the only one who remembers everything from before, she’s the only one having the flashback scenes, so they really don’t take up a huge chunk of any episode. I really like this because I hate when a drama spends more time focusing on the past rather than the present timeline. This drama’s storyline is really easy to follow in that regard.

The story has lots of different side characters to follow, but it doesn’t get confusing. I mention this because I often get lost when there’re so many people to keep track of, especially when it’s in the historical genre as they’re all dressed in ways that are unfamiliar to me (making it harder for me to recognize anyone). That wasn’t the case here. I’m not 100% sure why but it was really easy for me to differentiate between & remember all the additional characters in this story. Whatever the reason, I never found myself distracted from the story because I was confused on who everyone was.

As I said earlier, the cinematography is beautifully done in this drama. The camera angles, the focus of the scenes, & the lighting all work in perfect tandem. There are certain scenes that will stay with the viewers long after the show is over (I’m speaking from experience!) because of how gorgeous & striking the visuals are. Like when the Leads are shot with an arrow & go crashing through the glass. Or when she’s running into that fire searching for him & he appears out of the smoke & picks her up (swoooon). And when she forces medicine on him through a kiss that has them landing amidst those sheets hanging to dry (helloooooo chemistry!) Also, when they’re both on the brink of death & mystically meet in that dream state - the way they collide together & how the arrow turns to petals when it reaches the ML’s outstretched hand is absolute perfection. 🔥🫠 If you’ve seen the drama, you know exactly what I’m talking about as the scenes are too memorable to forget!

I love the Leads, both as individuals & as a couple. They’ve each faced some seriously dark days & really hard situations. In their past they both died regretting having wasted their lives by devoting themselves to someone who didn’t deserve it (she’s referring to her cheating husband; he means being blinded by his need for revenge). In their present, with her knowledge of her past life & a book to guide her, the FL sets out to change her destiny. She uses what she knows to make a life for herself where she can be financially independent, allowing her to not be reliant on her family (which is good ‘cause they seriously suck! Side note: I love how her dad redeems himself.). And when her path once again crosses with the ML, she’s determined to change his fate as well.

I love how strong they both are. They have solid morals & good hearts, but they’re often misunderstood since they don’t fit society’s mold of how they should act (him more so than her). They strive to protect their loved ones, no matter the odds stacked against them. They willingly make the hard sacrifices if it means bettering the lives of those they hold most dear. They refuse to bow to corrupt leaders but rather fight against the schemes of the villains. They both show the world a tough persona, not allowing any weakness to be seen. But with each other, their walls slowly fall as they grow to trust in & depend on one another.

The way they meet in the present is just as enticing as how they met in the past. Again with the ML in that cloak with the hood - it’s such a striking visual! Their eye contact & body language give me the tingles. These actors have ah-maz-ing chemistry. The way they look at one another & react to each other adds so much depth to every interaction they have. Even though he’s leery of her at first (which makes sense given the circumstances they meet under) he’s still drawn to her. There’s something about her that he instinctively trusts, despite not remembering her. As for her, she’s also leery, but for different reasons. One is because of his reputation, but two is because she’s afraid that history will repeat itself if they get tangled up together. She’s determined to prevent the latter from happening. So even while she’s drawn to him, does her best to protect him/rescue him every time he’s in need, & works to save him from making the same choices in this life as he did previously she’s also trying to remain distant so as not to inadvertently cause their deaths to reoccur.

As amazing as they both are individually I had no doubts that they’d be a dynamic couple when they finally took that step. I’m happy to say I was right! This duo is total couple goals. The trust they share is inspiring. The lengths they’ll go to in order to protect one another makes me swoon (seriously, every time he showed up at the exact moment she needed him, catching her before she could fall {iykyk}, made me happy sigh so big!) And the depth of love they hold for each other makes me melt into a total puddle of goo. I honestly can’t get enough of them, nor can I move on from their beautiful love story. I’m not ready to say goodbye - I want more!

I love, love, love that they got married halfway through & stayed together the whole rest of the drama. I’m so glad the writer’s didn’t put us through a breakup trauma ‘cause I would not have handled that well. It also wouldn’t have felt true to their characters. What did happen felt natural & realistic: he wanted to save her from the pain his death would cause, she pointed out that she would be in pain whether he left her now or he died later which makes his leaving pointless, he actually LISTENED to her & heard what she was saying. He allowed her to choose for herself, then respected the choice she made. Which was, of course, to face whatever comes by his side. And then it was done - no fighting, no second-guessing, no regrets. They were as solid as they’d ever been.

And they truly were solid. So much gets thrown at them, but they never break. They hold tight & fight everyday for a lifetime of loving one another. Family & friends betray them, but they stay loyal & true. The villains seem to be winning, but they remain resolute. Ultimatums & threats are issued, but they don’t falter. Torture is administered, but they don’t give in. Hope seems lost, but they never lose faith. And when the traitors finally make their grand finale move, our Leads stand on the frontlines of the battle, refusing to cower or cave.

In the end, they’re rewarded for their efforts. They get the happy ending they’ve fought so hard to procure. They enjoy a life outside the schemes & follies of the court. And they love each other more with every breath they breathe. 💜🩵

So in conclusion, if you’re going to watch this drama, clear your schedule as you won’t want to stop once you start. There are some couples who, no matter how many other dramas you watch, you just can’t move on from. This duo is one of those unforgettable couples. ❤️‍🔥 From their first moment on screen to their ending scene they completely captivate & mesmerize. If you’re anything like me, you’re about to fall in love with this couple!

**I feel I should mention I don’t think this drama is perfect. There were a few holes in the plot or areas where the pacing felt a bit messy. Nothing too horrible that it lessened my enjoyment, I’m just saying I’m not unaware of the flaws. The one negative that did impact me & is a big enough issue to mention is the complete swap of the ML’s brother’s personality. He went from being this kind & sorta wimpy man-child who loved his brother so much he wanted to be like him to one who’s conniving & a master manipulator. There was no build up, it was just one scene to the next - it was very jarring. I get that the familial drama could cause a mental break in him but the pacing of it all was just not well done. And how he so easily influenced the FL’s bestie felt off too - those girls had faced so much together & even torture didn’t cause them to doubt one another’s loyalty. But this guy successfully gets inside the bestie’s head in so little time, causing her to act out of character? It just didn’t flow. It’s like they needed another villain & just thought, “here, use him”. It felt inconsistent with the rest of the drama.**

A Fav Couple of ‘24! <3

I was super excited about this drama as the FL is one of my favorite Korean actresses and man, she totally slayed this role! I was impressed by the whole cast - they all did a great job bringing their characters to life. The good guys were so deserving of happiness & the somewhat grey characters had me rooting for them in the end. And the villains were absolutely horrendous & disturbed individuals who made me truly despise them so kudos to the actors for really nailing their roles!

I’m so glad this drama didn’t end up being a whopping disappointment. It exceeded my expectations & I wish I could watch it for the first time all over again! I was captivated from the first scene & it kept me invested the whole way through. Here I am writing this review a year later & I still can’t get over this amazing story. 💖

I thought the storyline & pacing flowed naturally. I was never lost on whether the scene was from the previous life or the current timeline, which sometimes happens with dramas involving “time travel” aspects. The flashback scenes all added to the story as well rather than detracting from the flow of things, which again happens at times. I often dislike stories that have multiple timelines because I feel like we spend way too much time in the past when we should be focused on the characters in the present day more, but that wasn’t the case with “Marry My Husband”. The past scenes helped bring context & clarity to the choices the Leads were making in the present, as well as provided a beautiful contrast to the bleakness of their previous lives & the inner strength they’re finding now as they take control of their destinies. So empowering to witness!

I mentioned how the villains (the FL’s husband & “bestie”) made it easy to hate them, but guys - that doesn’t adequately express just how very easy they made it. 😡 Whyyy were they so messed up?! They were so selfish & conniving, it was disgusting. As more of the bestie’s motives & truly dark obsession with the FL got exposed, the more I wanted to see her world crumble. I legit cheered each time the FL got the best of her. And then watching the Leads manipulate the husband as he became more & more twisted was equally satisfying. Watching them change fate where these two were concerned was so cathartic & healing for my soul - if they’d gotten a slight slap on the wrist or had a forgiveness scene I would’ve been so ticked at the writers, haha! And the same with the narcissistic love rival psycho from the ML’s life. Sorry, not sorry, Lady! All I can say about her ending is, “better you than him!” 😉 IYKYK.

And now I gotta briefly mention the awesome new bestie the FL makes. This girl is absolute aces. She’s one of those girls who will always fix another girl’s crown, ya know? She’s such a breath of fresh air for our FL, a true friend. She’s genuine, upbeat, quirky, & kind. She never does anything to belittle or demean the FL, but only compliments & encourages her. She heals a long-held hurt in the FL’s heart. Her presence helps give the FL the boldness & courage to stand up for herself with the toxic old bestie which is so great to witness. And, as an aside, the female co-worker who also becomes a friend is wonderful too. I loved what she brought to the story. The bonus of them both getting happy love-endings is great!

Okay, now to the Leads. I think by this point you’re aware that I adore this duo. They’re both such beautiful & pure souls, I’m never going to move on from them. Honestly, they’ll forever hold a place in my heart. They’re both such massive green flags for one another, but also for their family & friends. While they’re living their new “present” in different ways - FL resolved in changing herself for the better while the ML is focused solely on her - they obviously share the same goal: saving the FL from her previous fate. I love everything about the ways this all goes down!

The ML has been enchanted with the FL since a chance meeting in college. She disappeared before contact info was exchanged, but their encounter left a lasting impression on him. He’s a serious, introverted, & somewhat shy man, though, so when we finds her on campus later, he chooses not to make his presence known & just watches over her from afar (the cat, you guys. The cat! *swoon*) When their paths cross years later after they wind up at the same company (which is his family’s, but nobody knows that), he’s saddened to learn that she has a boyfriend. And as he mourns her loss at her funeral, you can see all his regrets weighing heavily on him. So it’s incredibly satisfying to see all the ways he steps in to protect her in this new timeline. Every single thing he does is with her best interests at heart. He’s an absolute goner for her & he’s determined she gets a happy ending this time. Watching his growth & transformation as he gets to interact with her more is such a pleasure to see - not just in his outward appearance, but in his self-confidence & character as well. The things he didn’t stand up for himself for with his grandfather before, he now stands firm in for her. *swoon* I want more ML’s to be written like him!!

The FL is absolute gold. We meet her as she’s nearing her end due to a sick body, which is heartbreaking to witness because we know the people she believes to love her are actually massively betraying her & are ultimately responsible for her death. (That scene..*sob*) This was a great way to start the story because it immediately grabs at the heart & gets the viewers invested in seeing this broken woman change her destiny. Everybody loves the underdog for a reason! And this woman is so deserving of love. She hasn’t had an easy life, unknowingly making it worse by her choice in friends. Her bestie has made her isolated & dependent on her, leading to very low self-esteem & a severely skewed image of herself. So when she gets a second chance & uses it to remove the toxicity from her life, it gives definite “I am woman, hear me roar” vibes, which I am so there for! And while she doesn’t remember meeting the ML back in college due to being drunk at the time, she’s very much drawn to him in the present. His kindness is such a contrast to what she’s experienced with her husband. He personifies that saying about how “he was healing something he hadn’t broken in the first place”.

From their first interaction in the new timeline, their chemistry is enticing. His protection of her, their eye contact & body language.. it all lets us know that their love story is going to be fantastic. And it so is! I loved every single interaction they had. Watching them become friends as they’re both influenced by one another & how their bond quickly develops & grows is so sweet. And once they realize they were both sent back in time & team up to change the FL’s destiny, their connection becomes that much more precious. Him teaching her self-defense? Seriously, she’s so freakin’ cute! The emotional scene in the water when he tells her he wants to be land (iykyk)? Gahhhh - SWOON!! When he covers her eyes to shield her from the toxic duo’s betrayal? Love it! When she confesses that while she was ice skating with her friend all she could think of was him? *sigh* precious! The sneaky touches at work? The long hugs, dates, & couch snuggles? The melt-your-screen & make-you-tingle kisses? LOOOOOOVE IT! 🔥🫠 And then we get to the grittier scenes & I’m just as enthralled with those… him taking the fatal vehicular hit instead of her? Such love! Her care while he recuperates? Such love! Every time they stand together against someone who opposes them? Such love! Then there’s the beautiful ending… The proposal, wedding, & HEA scenes? Such pure love! They make such a great pair & I’m totally envious of their bond. Honest-to-God, true couple goals.

I could rave about them forever (as evidenced by the length of this review - sorry!), but you shouldn’t just take my word for it. Push play & experience the beauty of this story for yourself. 💜

Fantasy, Mystery, Comedy, & Romance

A Korean emperor from a parallel world + a head-strong detective with whom he shares a mysterious connection…

I admit that I didn’t really like this drama the first time I watched it. I’m not really sure why because there’s nothing wrong with it. Perhaps I was just in the wrong mood for the genre? I truly can’t remember the reason. After experiencing Woo Do Hwan’s amazing acting in the drama, “Mad Dog”, I gave this show another shot. (*WDH plays dual roles as the ML’s head bodyguard/friend/confidant & the FL’s friend. He deserves serious recognition for his talent!*) And upon watching it again, I really enjoyed it! The acting is great (as expected from the talented cast!), the storyline is solid & keeps the viewers’ attention, & the pacing is well done. I didn’t skip through a lot of boring parts or endless “filler” scenes. So while my original opinion of this drama was rather low, I’ve since changed my mind & now love to rewatch it.

Now for the review.

For me, the FL is a bit off putting at first with her tough girl persona (perhaps that’s why I didn’t enjoy watching it the first time?) Her initial treatment of the ML annoyed me, though it does make sense that she thinks he’s a wacko. For her, nothing he said made sense or seemed credible. It’s understandable that she thinks he’s a conman. I get all that, but it still bothered me, haha. BUT I did come to appreciate this part of her character. She’s very independent, smart, & brave. She’s willing to make hard choices & sacrifices to protect her friends & family. She’s a modern day warrior when it comes to her loved ones. And when her love extends to include the ML, her inner beauty really shines through because of how determined she is to fight for their love. She’s not just a sideline observer - she’s right in the thick of things, fighting alongside her man (though not always physically as they’re often in different worlds.) She’s no weak & simpering ninny, which is always refreshing to watch. And her toughness only makes it that much sweeter to witness when she softens with only the ML.

As for the ML, I liked him from the start. He’s charming, witty, & engaging. He gives off this carefree attitude towards life, but he’s never careLESS with his duties or the feelings of others. He’s a rare gem when it comes to those who hold power - he’s a leader who genuinely cares for his people. He treats others with kindness & respect while still maintaining his authority. Even those he knows are scheming, he remains respectful even as he’s putting them in their place & reminding them who’s in charge (yeah, I’m talking about you, evil lady.) He’s by no means a pushover or weak leader. He’s on the front lines when his country’s under attack & he spends his life, unknown to the masses, protecting them from an unknown threat. He places the peoples needs before his wants, often sacrificing his own happiness for the good of the country…until it comes to the FL. Her, he won’t give up. When they meet, he’s all in - first to unravel the mystery surrounding their connection (the writer’s did a fantastic job with this portion of the story, imho) & then because he’s absolutely smitten with her.

The plot of the story is really good. There’s the fantasy aspect with existence of the parallel worlds & the scenes where the ML is traveling through time. There’s the mystery component surrounding the ML having the FL’s police issued badge - why was it in the pocket of the one who saved him at his father’s murder scene when he was a child? There’s comedy thrown in to lighten the heavy. And there’s romance - such pure, deep, enviable romance *sigh*.

I loved these Leads together. They have wonderful onscreen chemistry that makes all their interactions believable. They’re so good together & I was rooting for them to get their HEA, scared the fantasy aspect would separate them in the end. They so deserve to be happy after all they go through to be together. The ways they both fight for their love made me swoon so much. Him traveling through time to reach her? Swoon. Her reaction each time he came back to her? Swoon. Their intense reunion after she’s kidnapped to his world (my favorite scene, btw)? SWOON! They’re such a power couple & writing this is making me want to watch their story all over again. If you haven’t yet watched it, stop reading our reviews & just push play already!

Also, the bromance is hecka cute. I loved all the interactions between Lee Min Ho (ML) & Woo Do Hwan (SML). Sometimes the Leads & support characters don’t always mesh that well, but these 2 guys have great chemistry that really adds a lot to the success of the drama. So kudos to them!

So underrated, imho

In hopes of saving her show from cancellation, an unskilled writer casts a top actor as DJ. Can these polar opposites learn how to work together or are they doomed to fail from the start?

Prepare to f.e.e.l. with this one, y’all! Our ML is surrounded by toxic people who constantly try to manipulate him & decide every-freakin’-thing for him. He learned from a young age to hide his true self behind a mask. So watching him take back control of his life is so satisfying it makes me want to do a victory dance for him! And gahhhh - the way he adores the FL (once he gets past his idiocy, of course 😉) & tries his very best to love her in the ways she needs is just pure beauty. And the ways she acknowledges the good in him & helps him deal with/heal from childhood trauma is so girl-crush worthy!

They’re both so protective of & loyal to each other. They face a LOT of hurdles but no matter what comes at them, they refuse to break or let go of one another… they made me happy sigh & swoon so much! 🫠

As a side note, we have the requisite tropes that most kdramas include :
- Opposites Attract. Rich, “cold” male & poor, “candy” female. 👩🏻‍❤️‍👨🏻
- Delulu love rival. Do girls (or guys) really think manipulation & threats will win someone’s affection? Like…really?? 🤯
- Work rivals. Why can’t it be, “You do your job & I’ll do mine. I hope you succeed & wish me success too, please.” Can’t people just get along?!? 🤷🏻‍♀️
- Love triangle. ML likes FL. So does her boss. FL is unsure who she really likes. 🤔
- Toxic parents. His dad’s a serial cheater who expects him to clean up his messes. His mom is a controlling psycho who’s constantly ignoring his wishes & going behind his back. Grr… 🤬
- Childhood connection of Leads. Their history is tragically beautiful & I personally really enjoyed how the FL handled it when the full truth was revealed. ❤️‍🩹

PS: I could literally just listen to the male actor speak for days. His voice is so soothing to my ears!

Such a great rom-com!

We meet a narcissistic executive { Park Seo Joon } who rarely acknowledges the people around him because he’s so self-absorbed. He’s become successful in large part due to his capable secretary { Park Min Young } who’s worked diligently over the past 9 years. But when she informs him of her intent to resign so she can focus on herself, hilarity ensues. He’s determined to keep her by his side & she’s just as set on leaving. Who will win this battle of wills when hearts become involved?

I absolutely love this. The quirky coworkers/friends, their families, the bromance… And then we have the Leads.

The ML & his *AURA* (iykyk) is hilarious! 😂 I love his self-confidence that makes him such an amusing fool. It’s good he never loses that belief in his own awesomeness.🙃 And his unwavering pursuit of the FL is swoon worthy. He goes all out to win her affection & I rooted for him 100%.

The FL is just as spectacular & the perfect balance to his oddities. But she’s got her own brand of crazy which is so fun to watch. They compliment each other so well! I loved her strength. She was respectful & stayed kind with the ML even when he was not so nice to her (though he was never intentionally cruel, just clueless!) And I love how she comes to appreciate his many quirks.

They have a beautiful love story born from a childhood bond (seriously, their past connection? One of the best I’ve seen!) Their chemistry makes me melt.🔥🫠 They’re wholly devoted - a wonderful OTP who give all the feels. 💕

Loved every minute of this!

A love story between a top star and the PR team leader of his management agency.

This totally chaotic couple captured my heart. OhEmGee - they’re hilarious! I thoroughly enjoyed watching their crazy antics & banter as they grew from frenemies to lovers.

The ML { Kim Young Dae } is this big star with a real cool & suave vibe, always appearing very confident. But he proves that the persona we show the public isn’t always our true selves. When not in “work mode” he’s much more innocent & a bit dorky, though not many get to see it since he’s learned to hold himself back out of self preservation due to past trauma & a need to protect his secrets. But after returning to Korea & being back in the FL’s presence, then realizing his feelings for her, he begins to open up & allow more people to get close, which is so delightful to watch. And the pure way he loves the FL made my heart flutter so much! His efforts to woo her are so hilarious & heart warming. I just love him! (+ him & his manager/driver are so fun!)

The FL { Lee Sung Kyung } is such a great character. Loyal & hard working, she does everything she can to protect each “star” their PR firm manages. They failed to protect someone before &, in the aftermath, she devotes herself to never losing someone again, sometimes at the expense of herself. She has such a beautiful heart, but a misunderstanding skewed her opinion of the ML. She liked him years ago but that incident left her wary of falling for him again. But he eventually wins her heart & I was so there for the journey! I love how fierce she was in her desire to protect him, even when they were “enemies”. She’s always known him better than anyone, so seeing them finally get together & just how much more protective she becomes of him… total girl crush happening here!

They’re one of my favorite brain-cleanse couples from any drama trauma. Their chemistry is so natural & tingles inducing, while their kisses make me melt. 🔥🫠

Bonus - there is NO toxicity except the villains. AND there’s 4 more healthy love stories! I highly recommend this if you like rom-coms where the only “drama” is the good kind. 💜🩵

Cute & Easy Watch

If you’re wanting a fairly easy watch that you don’t have to invest a lot of brain power into, I say give this drama a try.

Despite the toxic love rivals/ coworkers & all the drama they insist on stirring up, I still enjoyed this show. It’s a sweet love story between a top idol in the wold of dubbing who keeps his identity a secret from the public + the fan who’s inspired to chase her dreams because of him. Through the randomness of life that often happens, the FL ends up working for the ML, thus starting their journey to their well-deserved HEA. 💕

I have no knowledge beyond what I’ve learned in dramas when it comes to the world of dubbing, so I can’t speak for the accuracy of that aspect of this drama. I do know that watching this furthered my fascination with the people who do the dubbing IRL. Honestly, before watching Asian dramas, I had no idea dubbing even existed for tv shows/movies. The thought just never entered my mind. I knew it was done for video games & the like, obviously. But it truly never occurred to me that it also plays a huge role in the things I watch.

Anyways, I found this to be a cute, fluffy story that I like to rewatch once in a while to see the Leads fall in love all over again. As mentioned above, the love rivals bring some annoying drama to the scenes, especially the female. She’s hecka toxic & delusional. I’ll never, ever, EVER understand people like her who can do such despicable things while calling themselves a friend & professing to love someone. That’s. Not. Love!

Okay, sorry, moving on….

The Leads are super cute together. They have immediate chemistry, but the ML’s hidden identity adds some issues between them once the FL discovers the truth (which happens early on, fyi.) I appreciated that they didn’t draw that trope out too long so that the couple didn’t have a huge break up later down the road. After they get past that bump, there’s one more that does cause them to split but it’s resolved in the very next episode & then they’re 100% solid from there on out (see spoilers below for more info on that). Thank goodness, that’s how I prefer my shows to go. 🤗

The secondary couple is a bit… odd. I didn’t dislike them, per se, but I also wasn’t real invested in their story. They weren’t a nuisance, but I also would’ve enjoyed the drama just as much without them.

The Leads have a lot of cute & memorable scenes that I enjoy rewatching from time to time. They’re just one of those easy couples that aren’t ashamed to show their affection so we don’t have to watch fish kisses or a level of awkward shyness better fit for a preteen to experience, not a fully gown adult. 🤪 From their roles as coworkers to their romantic relationship, this duo acts their age & responds accordingly in whatever the situation may be.

Cherish Your Youth

I held off on watching this drama for quite awhile due to the simple fact that I’m not a fan of love triangles, which this show very much has. I kept seeing snippets of it via social media, though, so I finally caved & pushed play. And while the triangle definitely lowered my rating some, I’m still glad I watched it because I ended up enjoying it more than I expected to.

It tells the story of a quirky college freshman who has no time for extracurricular activities/clubs because she’s solely focused on making money to support herself + her mother & younger brother. So she initially turns down her bestie’s request to join the university cheerleading squad, but when she’s bribed with money if she joins, she quickly signs up. The catch? She must keep it a secret that she’s being paid. She thinks it’ll be easy money… then she officially meets the captain (whom she’s already had some not-so-good encounters with). He’s more serious & mature than her, so their personalities constantly clash. Not to mention that he’s very passionate about the squad, while she’s only in it for as long as it takes to get paid. So the viewers are left with an all too familiar question of: will this duo resolve their issues & misunderstandings so they can have a happy ending or are they destined to be each other’s college-love regret?

As the story plays out it presents the viewers with lots of different things. It has some truly hilarious parts that left me giggling at the chaotic cast. It also had heartwarming moments that remind you how beautiful & precious life is. There are realistically sad moments too that caused my heart to hurt a bit for the characters’ pain. They experience both losses & wins throughout. The plot has enough secrets & mysteries to keep you invested in seeing how it all finally plays out. There are villains & there are heroes, each with a story to tell. We witness the characters’ trauma & how they grow. There’s life-long friends & the birth of new friendships. There’s the angst & excitement of many new loves.

And there’s the underlying message about choosing to chase your dreams no matter the obstacles & not wasting your youth since you only get to live it for a short time.

Now, for the main trio.
- The FL: I found her to be quite unique. I feel like generally girls with her personality & brand of crazy are relegated to side-character status, so it was refreshing to see such a quirky girl as the lead female. I quite enjoyed her as she was a strong young woman who didn’t let others push her around. How she handled her ex? Ha - you go, girl! She was determined to provide a better life for her family so she willingly sacrificed her own happiness to help them, which is both admirable & heartbreaking to watch. She did take this to the extreme & was quite controlling/bossy to both her mother & brother, but her reasoning is later explained & then you just want to give the poor girl a hug. She wasn’t afraid to stand up for herself, nor to work hard for what she wanted. And while she didn’t enjoy hurting people, she didn’t allow their feelings to manipulate her into doing things she was truly against. Yeah, she frustrated me at times with the triangle drama, but overall I found her to be relatable in her flaws & commendable in her strengths.. 🫶🏻

- The ML: I know some may think differently, but he’s totally green, IMHO. Yes, his hesitation in confessing is frustrating & makes him seem a bit flaky, but when you take into account why he was hesitant, it’s kinda admirable (even while still annoying). He truly wished to protect the FL so he wanted to keep his distance until the danger surrounding the squad could be resolved. I was so happy when he finally allowed himself to follow his heart despite the risks, because he was so good for her. I know he screwed up & reacted poorly towards her a couple times, but again, take into account the why behind his reactions & it all makes sense. PLUS he took responsibility & apologized for messing up, which takes a lot of maturity to do. He was also super cool in his refusal to let her “take the heat” for dating him, her captain, when that camera crew was around. And one of parts that made me absolutely love him is how he handled their “break up”. Honestly, he’s total aces in my book for that (iykyk). 🫠

- The SML: look, I’m just going to be straight up honest here & say that I don’t at all understand the obsession with this character. To me, he’s a total red flag. He’s a very selfish & self-centered guy. (FL’s brother says it best with his response when the SML tries using him to get closer to her. I was totally cheering for the brother in that scene!) For the majority of the drama he’s very obsessive & manipulative, one of the love-rival types who’s just seriously annoying to me. He doesn’t care about the FL’s lack of interest in him or how his actions affect her. After the FL again rejected him, he started dating out of spite which is super unfair to his new gf. That does not say “good guy” to me. Yes, he had his moments where you could see his potential to be better, but he almost always ruined it with his usual immaturity. Until the last episodes, everything he did was selfishly motivated so sorry, not sorry, I just didn’t like him. 🚩

As for the rest of the squad, I’m glad we got to delve into each of their stories a bit. It helped them seem more like real people, rather than just filler side-characters. It also is a great reminder that every single person has a story of their own to tell. While we’re the MC’s of our own life stories, we’re just the side-characters in someone else’s, while they get the MC role. It’s important to remember that the world does not, in fact, revolve around us & our individual lives. 😉

Also, the moms were a total bonus. It was fun to watch them reconnect & navigate through their rivalry, history, & all it brought with it. They were such opposites as parents, but they both unashamedly & completely loved their children. They had their good points & their bad points which just shows that mothers are human too.

One last thing I’ll mention - I have no idea why they’re called a Cheerleading Squad. Maybe it’s just lost in translation? In my country, they’d be labeled a dance team. Which honestly is no big deal & doesn’t take away from the plot at all, I simply mention it because I was really confused in the first several episodes while I waited for them to do some actual cheering. Or at least some stunts in their routines like I expect cheerleaders to do. But there’s absolutely none of that so I’m just throwing that out there so you don’t go in with those same expectations as I did, haha.

Fight for Justice w/ Heart & Humor

A “gangster lawyer” who doesn’t trust the law & isn’t adverse to using his fists + a young lawyer that believes the law is sacred who got her license suspended for hitting a judge. Together, can these unlikely allies bring down the most powerful people in the city?

This is such a stellar drama, imo. The story flows well without any major plot holes or inconsistencies to confuse/irritate the viewers. The pacing is also well executed - things keep moving right along without a lot of unnecessary filler scenes. I think all of the cast did really well, both the good guys & the villains were very believable in their roles. And, of course, the Leads did fantastic!

I know romance wasn’t the focus of the drama, but their chemistry is so good that their love story couldn’t not be a focus, ya know? I love when that happens!

The ML’s protection of the FL made me swoon so many times. I mean… gah, this man! When the baddies kidnapped her for ransom & he rescued her? Swoon. That scene when she’s being held at knife point & he grabs it with his bare hand? Swoon! The whole backstory of why he sought her out (in essence making his whole life about protecting her)? SWOON!!! Seriously, I loved the whole revenge plot & watching them go up against the corrupt officials & slowly unravel their web of deceit, but I totally adore this drama because of the Leads’ relationship. 🫠🫠

Don’t think the FL is some damsel in distress type, though, because she most definitely is not! Girl knows how to stand on her own two feet & take on the villains too, it’s just that she’s not trained in fighting like the ML is. Her strength shines through in her ability to overcome all the shocking truths thrown her way & continue to fight for justice against all odds. She has some serious girl-crush moments for me. Her foundation of what she believed to be true her whole life is shaken & dismantled, but she refuses to crumble. Instead, she shows her bravery & courage in standing against those trying to manipulate & use her, determined to get justice for those who’ve been wronged by these horribly disgusting people.

Where they start with distrust & dislike due to the FL being unaware of all that’s happening behind the scenes, she quickly comes to realize that the ML is worthy of her trust & respect. I loved watching their bond form & mature, both as colleagues & friends. They make a dynamic duo with a hilarious crew of crazies backing them up. (Seriously - their team made me laugh so many times, which brought levity to the heavy moments the drama served us.)

Even without the romance, their bond is deep. But once they cross from friends to lovers, their bond becomes unbreakable. Which is proven when others seek to break them apart - some for selfish reasons, others with good intentions. And even though the ML takes a step back out of respect to a request made by her parent in order to protect the FL, she knows deep down that something more is going on & chooses to trust him, despite how much it hurts. Which is why I don’t classify it as a real break up (watch it & you’ll understand my reasoning.) This duo is honestly one of my favorite couples in this genre, as is this show. If you haven’t watched it, you’re missing out, imho.

Lawless Lawyer in a very small nutshell has:
- Great action scenes.
- Suspense & tension.
- Plot twists & turns.
- Believable storyline.
- Evil & corrupt villains.
- Stellar heroes/heroine.
- Beautiful family bonds.
- Loyal friendships.
- Both humor & intensity.
- Ultimate Happy Ending 💖

If you like these things, then I highly recommend you give this drama a shot.

Stuck in a Time Loop…

A video game designer & a college student get stuck in a time loop on a bus that’s set to expl0de. Now they have to figure out what exactly is going on, why they’re the only ones affected, & how to fix things. Will they ultimately save themselves & their fellow passengers or will all their efforts be in vain?

Have you ever thought about being stuck in a time loop? It would be so frustrating facing the same moments over & over without being able to change anything. I would feel so many emotions - confusion, shock, denial, irritation, fear, anger, despair, grief, etc. And our Leads experience all these & more on this bus ride that they expected to be like every other day but turns out to be the most tumultuous ride of their lives.

I watched this years ago so I can’t give much detail, but I’ll share some of what I remember.

I found the first few episodes to be a bit draggy & repetitive as they lay the groundwork for the future episodes (meaning we keep seeing the same scenes repeatedly as the Leads become aware of their situation), but I enjoyed it once it got past that part.

So, obviously, our Leads are having a really bad day. And they’re going through the gamut of emotions as they struggle to understand what’s happening, come to grips with this horrible situation, & figure out how to get back to reality. Can you imagine experiencing your de@th over & over?! And then, even if you figure out how to save yourself, you’re left with the guilt over letting so many others d!e… no wonder our Leads felt like breaking a time or two - totally understandable!

When they manage to escape the bus before it expl0des, they try various ways of getting help for the other passengers. The problem is, nobody believes them so the expl0sion keeps happening & the time-loop starts keeps resetting. With only one another to rely on, they’re forced to make some tough choices: stay loyal & fight to find a solution or betray each other to save themselves. I thought this plot line allowed great character growth in both Leads. It makes them confront their inner selves & decide just what kind of person they truly are (& they both prove to be good people).

The cast did a very good job bringing this tense & angsty story to life, while still providing us with sweet & heartwarming moments between the Leads. The focus is obviously on the time-loop situation, but there is some romance as well. And the Leads have good chemistry so I enjoyed watching their fight to survive. 🫶🏻
