Easy, Sweet, & Relaxing

A boy falls in love with his idol and vows to become someone worthy of standing by her side - will he succeed in this endeavor?

Okay, I adored Wu Bai in Go Go Squid so I was so happy to get his story! And while it does help in some aspects to watch them in order, you can also watch them as standalone dramas and follow along fine since the details do differ between the two (which confused me at first, but not enough to detract from my enjoyment.)

So our ML sees our FL at one of her competitions and immediately falls in love with her. His feelings for her set him on a course of entering into the same field as her and becoming one of the top contenders in the sport. He sets a goal of 300 wins and then he’ll make his move for her. Because of her seniority, in both age and profession, he knows he needs to prove himself worthy of her before he makes his feelings known.

Y’all - this guy… 🫠 He’s so precious and the FL is so blessed to have his full devotion. His love and support of her never waivers. They develop a beautiful friendship and a deep bond of trust and respect. When he wins her heart, they’re just adorable. I love their chemistry and the way they don’t allow their roles as competitors in work to impact their partnership in life. They’re truly couple goals. 💚

I found them to be a really easy duo to watch. They were both genuinely good people, well-liked & highly respected by their peers. They were loyal, steady, & true - to themselves and to one another. I loved how they encouraged & protected one another in equal parts. While it may seem at times like the ML is more invested, the FL does show her love for him in numerous ways. They’re very equal and well-balanced, both fully invested in nurturing and safe-guarding their love.

If you watched the first season, I definitively think you should watch this. There’s cameos of S1’s main leads, plus the beautiful wedding scene for them all. So precious!

Chase Your Dreams. Follow Your Heart.

A genius, straight-A student falls in love with a former esport “god” - a reticent man uninterested in her pursuit. Will her determination pay off or is she bound for heartbreak?

Full honesty, the FL’s obsession with the ML is super cringeworthy, imho, and almost made me drop this drama. I really couldn’t relate to her at all and was super embarrassed for her during her scenes with him. BUT the more episodes I watched, the more I came to adore the girl. She’s just so pure and innocent, and completely devoted to loving the ML with everything she is.

And he needed that. Someone to be on his side and fully supporting him because of him - not his title or his fame, but simply because he’s Han ShangYan. And that’s exactly what Tong Nian gave him.

Watching him fall for her is so fun. Her bringing out a gentler, more youthful side to him endears her to those who love him. Him recognizing her strengths and determining within himself to love her the way she needs from him is so sweet! 🫠 The Leads have really good chemistry and bonus, his team of boys are a delight to watch 😍!

Each time I rewatch this I fall a little bit more in love with them 💕

Do Yourself a Favor & Push Play!

An aspiring violinist waking up from a 13 year coma. A troubled man bogged down by misplaced guilt. Can they find healing and embrace life as adults?

This is such a heartwarming show. Our Leads have such a beautiful bond that deepens to unbreakable levels. Without knowing it, they’re helping each other deal with the after effects of the same traumatic event. Through their love for one another, they find the strength to allow themselves to heal and move forward with the life they’ve been given.

Watching them choose each other day by day is so satisfying and brings forth all the feels in my heart. I know this is a super short review, but I don’t want to give too much away! This is a drama that’s best enjoyed when you go in blank and just let the drama itself fill in the pages 😉

Bonus: the SML’s friendship with the FL and family ties with the ML are so wonderfully written and portrayed. PSA to Writers: Love triangles don’t have to be toxic! Seeing his development and how he selflessly steps aside for the Leads to love without interference is totally swoon worthy. 💚

“Don’t think - FEEL!” (iykyk)

Sweet Fluff & Cute Love

When a studious, young woman agrees to tutor a wildly popular superstar, neither have any idea how much this arrangement will change their lives…

I really enjoyed this drama, though I found the ML annoying & childish at first. But I liked him more as he matured & worked to better himself, for both his career & to be able to love/protect the FL better. He has a closely guarded secret - he’s mostly illiterate. He can usually hide it, but sometimes he epically fails. Thus his request for the FL to tutor him & help him prepare for an upcoming role he wants to play. And so their chaotic but sweet story begins…

The FL is such a kind soul. She’s recently been betrayed by her bf, the cheater. I admired how, despite her pain, she remained sweet, mature, & strong. The ML rescues her from multiple awkward encounters, endearing himself to her. As they spend time working together & cohabitating, their partnership quickly turns to friendship & mutual attraction.

This is a very healthy duo. They respect & fully trust one another, never letting outside opinions influence their decisions regarding each other. The FL does leave when her presence impacts his career, but the ML chases her down & lays her fears to rest. And the way he proudly announces his love for her to the public is ACES! He defied everyone for her & it was so sweet!! 🫠🫠 I really enjoyed this drop due to their relationship. It’s silly & fluffy & cheesy which makes it a very easy watch.

Just Laugh & Enjoy

When an elite NIS agent is forced to pose as a student, his assignment becomes more tricky after several misunderstandings with his Korean history teacher. He’s determined to solve the case + solve the mystery surrounding his father’s disappearance; she’s desperate to become a full-time faculty member & be a good teacher. Will they keep getting in each other’s way & stay “rivals” or will they discover an ally in one another?

This has both heart & humor; mystery & action; villains & heroes. There’s the cruel reality of bullying & the toll it takes. There’s the heartbreaking loss of a parent. There’s the bonds of found family. There’s the beauty of reunited childhood “loves”.

The cast did their roles really well. They made us root for the good guys & detest the bad ones. Loved the students’ stories & character growth. And kudos to the mega villainess - her ability to portray such a psychotic woman deserves a round of applause. 👏🏻

Overall I enjoyed this drama. My one complaint would be that I wanted more romance between the Leads. They’re both such great actors that it felt like such a wasted opportunity that we didn’t actually get them as a couple until the last scenes so they just felt more like buddies. Regardless, though, it’s still a good watch.

Not All Good, Not All Bad…

Two gutsy food delivery workers strive to overcome their socioeconomic disadvantages to achieve big goals. Will they find love along the way?

Being totally honest, I didn’t care for the FL’s know-it-all character for quite a bit of the show. Imho, she was abusive to those who upset her. If it was a guy constantly hitting/kicking/threatening others like she was they’d be a major red flag, but for some reason it’s cute & endearing when she does it. Um…whaaaa? Hello, double standards! She did mature & grow as the show went on, causing my dislike to slowly dissipate, but I wish they’d removed that part of her personality. She can be strong, independent, & tough without being a bully, I’m just sayin’…

Being the complete opposite, I loved the ML. He’s fearless, driven, & hard working. He doesn’t let his social status determine how he treats others - he’s kind & loyal, treating others with respect & helping those in need. And I loved how his goodness was returned to him by so many people when he hit hard times later in the show. “Do unto others as you’d have them do unto you” is the Golden Rule for a reason! 😉

There are the expected tropes. Annoying love rivals. Work related sabotage. Devious plots. Familial drama. Mysterious pasts. And two Leads who form an unbreakable bond through it all that helps them both heal from the trauma of their pasts. ❤️‍🩹

Such an Unexpected Delight!

The lives of two polar opposite students collide as one desperately seeks answers to a mysterious person’s identity & the other works to keep his school club afloat.

The FL’s the most popular girl in school. Famously aloof, almost the whole school follows every post of this social media star. But now someone is threatening to expose her secrets & she’s doing whatever it takes to protect the facade she’s carefully constructed to protect herself.

The ML’s the head of the broadcasting club. He doesn’t care for social media so when the FL seeks his assistance, he’s unwilling to cater to her simply because she’s popular. If she wants answers to the questions she’s asking, he requires her to become a club member & do the work just like everyone else.

Okay - I love this mini drama. And I don’t want to say a lot for fear of giving too much away, so just go watch it. It has a really good message about not judging people off of rumors & hearsay; how everyone has a story to tell; that bu!lying is a very serious matter that wreaks havoc on people’s lives; & that having just one person who believes in you can give you the courage needed to face a scary future. And writing this short review just makes me want to go watch this wonderful gem all over again! 🩵🩵

Sweet & Super Cheesy

Once a legend in the mob world, the ML is now a CEO whose company offers a fresh start to ex-convicts. His past, however, doesn’t want to let him go.

Inspired by her childhood friend, the FL is a content creator for children. She’s trying to make her young viewers happy with no strings attached, which can lead to conflict with her employers.

After many embarrassing, comical, & painful misunderstandings between the Leads, they form a friendship & gain an understanding of one another. The bond they once shared as children is just as firm when they’re reunited as adults.

This was much more fluffy & cutesy than I was expecting. A bit OTT at times for me, but you may think differently. It’s not that I didn’t like the characters, they just acted more innocent & naive than I would’ve liked given their ages/life history.

The quirky crew of former mobsters bring lots of comedy to the screen. The second couple is adorable. Finding out everyone’s pasts that lead to their present lifestyle choices is good to see.

And the Leads are great people. The ML’s protectiveness for his crew & overall caring nature are swoon worthy. And his voice… 🫠! The FL is very strong & kindhearted, accepting the guys warmly despite their pasts.

Together they’re so sweet. Their interactions are like those of young teens discovering the first taste of love. Their connection is true & their bond deep. They’ve only ever had eyes for each other & seeing how that plays out with the wanna-be love rivals is satisfying. They’re a couple who faces a lot together so they deserve the HEA they fight to obtain 🩵

A Really Good Crime Drama!

A genius criminal profiler receives an email that prompts his return to Korea. A killer is leaving him clues related to an escaped criminal who killed his dad & kidnapped his brother. The whole unfolding of their story, the reconnecting of the brothers, all the twists & discoveries that follow… wow. It’s a heartbreaking & bittersweet reunion because of that darn villain who just needs a good punch.

The FL is an elite detective who encounters the ML at the crime scene. She recognizes him from their childhood, but he doesn’t remember her. While I liked her overall, she did make some choices that had me going, “uhhh…I thought you were supposed to be super smart?!” For the most part, though, I enjoyed her brand of crazy, haha.

When they team up, can they untangle the mystery surrounding their fathers deaths? Will they untangle the identities of those around them in time? With all the mystery & chaos around them, will the Leads’ love have a chance to bloom…?

If you like mystery with a hint of romance, I recommend this. The cast did a great job sucking me in. I wanted to - 1) hug the brothers for all the pain they endured, 2) annihilate the villain for the trauma he caused with his warped thinking, & 3) high-five the team for not giving up.

And of course, I was so happy to watch the Leads’ connection grow & see those glimpses into what they could be… 😍

IMHO, this has a good pacing over everything coming to light & being resolved. Some aspects are very known, while other parts take a bit longer to figure out. I think all the cast did really good in their roles - I loved & hated who I was meant to, but I also felt empathy for some of the baddies which doesn’t always happen. So kudos to the writers, directors, & cast for making that happen 👍🏻

Vengeance & Justice are Here!

He’s doing it for the money; she’s out for revenge. Having vastly different motivations, can this duo find common ground?

The ML is a red flag type at first by sacrificing his morals for dollars. He’s an ace in his field, but he’s only using his brains for selfish ambitions. As the drama unfolds, we learn more of what caused him to “turn dark”. He has a tremendous amount of character growth by the end after he’s faced with the reality of how much his disregard for justice hurt innocent people. When some truths come to light, he has to choose whether to continue on his path or to use his brains for good & make amends. Thankfully, with the FL’s help, he chooses wisely this time.

The FL is a mystery at first, intriguing & attention grabbing. We know there’s more to her story of why she joined his team & why she’s trying so hard to steer him back to the right path. As her history & motives are revealed, I liked her more & more. She’s a total baddie in the best, most righteous way.🔥

The Leads have great chemistry, despite their romantic portion not culminating until the end. Their bond was a delight to watch form & deepen as they worked together to bring down some truly heinous & twisted villains. I recommend this for anyone who’s a fan of the genre. 👍🏻

Don’t Miss Out on This Story!

When a veteran insurance investigator who lost his wife & son in a tragic plane crash crosses paths with the younger brother of the co-pilot believed to have purposefully caused the accident, will their animosity get in the way of discovering the truth of what really happened on that awful day?

One is a former detective who now leads his own private investigation team - Mad Dog. And one is a genius former swindler who’s always worked alone. Can they learn to work together?

Honestly, I really enjoyed this thriller/crime drama. It has great pacing & the twists just keep on coming. The cast all did an amazing job bringing their characters to life. The heroes are so easy to love that their pains & triumphs felt like my own. And the villains are so easy to hate that seeing them brought down is oh so very satisfying.

The friendship & bond of the Mad Dog team is wonderful. I loved all their interactions & the ways they protect one another. And I really loved watching as the hate & animosity between the team & our lone man gradually dissipated & became a deep level of trust & friendship. While the show does have a heavy message, the team’s interactions bring light in all the dark & make you smile despite the topic. Which is a great lesson for life - no matter how dark it is, there’s always light to be found…

When Min Joon calls Kang Woo “Hyung” in that last scene? Serious heart-melting moment (iykyk)!!! 🫠🫠

Also, the interactions between Min Joon & Ha Ri are such a delight, but don’t watch this for a romance story ‘cause that’s not the dramas focus. But definitely still watch it because it’s such a great show!

A Gem of a Medical Drama

An arrogant, genius doctor of anesthesiology + a sweet & warm-hearted resident in his department. These two talented doctors work to help patients with mysterious pain that others have failed to diagnose.

As they put aside their differences to treat these people, can they also help each other heal from their pasts? Will their bond survive the trials headed their way?

And will they ever agree on an answer to the burning question - how far should you go to save a life?

Wow. I loved this. Like, absolutely loved it. As a chronic patient myself who has spent my whole life being seen by doctors who don’t really SEE me, it was heart warming to watch this team refuse to give up on any person. I so enjoyed watching them fight to find a reason behind their pain, as well as determining a treatment to cure/manage it. Well done, writers!

The Leads have amazing chemistry. From their first meeting in prison {yes, prison😳} to their hard-fought for happy ending, I loved witnessing them fall in love. They’re adults who act their age, both professionally & in their personal lives. They have a mature relationship that’s appropriate for people their age (I dislike when adults in dramas behave like preteens when it comes to their romantic lives. 🤦🏻‍♀️) Their interactions are enticing; their perseverance, inspiring. And their love story is one I’ll remember for years to come.

The plot & pacing are both well done. I don’t want to say too much as to avoid any spoilers regarding the storyline. The secondary characters are fun & complex, beautifully portraying that everyone has a story.

I definitely recommend this if you’re a fan of the medical drama genre. You’ll swoon, happy sigh, & cheer them on as you feel all the feels (at least, that’s what I did) 💕

A Pure & Sweet Love Story

I really enjoyed this series. It’s a very simple, sweet love story that’s free of any drama-trauma. While there are a few toxic characters I actually ended up being thankful for their presence simply because I thoroughly enjoyed watching the Leads handle each of them so satisfyingly. 🙌🏻

The Leads meet & fall for each other in high school but, due to circumstances beyond either of their control, they’re separated before either can confess. Which is disappointing because they had such a cute dynamic - the tutoring aspect added such a great layer to their bond.

Move forward to their college days & they’re reunited. The ML is there to win her back, but she isn’t quite ready to forgive him for disappearing on her so suddenly before, nor for not giving her any warning that he’d be attending the same university as her. So, needless to say, the ML has his work cut out for him to get back in her good graces. He’s crazy about her, though, so he’s not deterred by the effort required to get her to agree to be his. He’s super motivated, both in his pursuit of her & in his studies. He has goals & dreams that he’s determined to achieve. He’s not afraid of hard work, nor does he expect a free ride. He’ll earn everything he gets, one step at a time. He’s honest, loyal, & totally green 💚

The FL is a perfect partner for him. She’s smart, kind, & beautiful. She’s innocent but not stupid, sweet but not annoying. She doesn’t set out to make waves, but she will stand up for herself when others wrong her. She’s a very admirable character who doesn’t let anyone mistreat, manipulate, or bully her. And though she’s leery of getting her heart broken by the ML again, he’s still the only one she has eyes for. She genuinely wants him to succeed in earning her trust back, even if she doesn’t show it. She doesn’t give other’s a real chance to sway her because her heart has always been his. He’s the one she wants to be with, she just needs him to prove his words first. And prove them he does. 💜

They’re such a solid duo that watching them was totally angst free ‘cause they’re a couple that simply made me believe they would always hold tight to one another. Thankfully, they didn’t let me down! When love rivals came along, they were both very clear & firm in rejecting them. They never allowed time for misunderstandings to grow, always making sure to communicate with one another when a potential threat to their relationship arose. And when parental approval seems impossible (I seriously wanted to smack the FL’s mom a few times…😡), they stay positive that it will all work out. They’ll accept nothing else.

If you’re looking for a show about young adults falling in love & pursuing their dreams together that won’t leave you tense from unnecessary drama, I highly recommend giving this a shot. 👍🏻

Hearts on Ice :)

A figure skater & a short-track speed skater clash in this youthful drama about the heart & commitment needed to successfully chase your dreams, no matter the obstacles in your way.

**As a disclaimer, I cannot attest to the authenticity or accuracy of the sport knowledge portrayed in this drama. The only contact I’ve had with either sport has been through the television screen 🤪**

I enjoyed this drama for the most part, though the misunderstanding between the Leads, as well the annoying love rivals, lessened my enjoyment a bit. If I keep in mind that they’re still young & figuring themselves out it does help me not get so annoyed with them all, haha.

I liked that the duo had all the trope-y drama early on so that when they finally started dating, they had gotten that all out of the way. Once they became a couple, they were a solid & steady duo. They didn’t let anything come between them - not their teammates, not their schedules, & definitely not their mama’s drama (iykyk). They stayed together without hesitation, which is something I always love (I despise breakups!) They always had each other’s back, whether in their personal lives or in competitions. They encouraged each other through every set back & cheered each other on at every match. They were one another’s biggest fan & they were never afraid to show it.

This is a fairly easy watch that doesn’t require much thinking. You can just let the actors do their thing & enjoy the results of a good show about learning who you are, being confident in yourself, & chasing your dreams with all you’ve got. 🩵

Historical Humor & Heart

Their story starts with a marriage selection that the FL is determined to fail, but surprisingly gets chosen for instead…

The ML is the least favored sixth son of ten (?) royal heirs, relegated to menial tasks due to his poor health, while the FL is an unassuming girl with no status who just longs to return home and lead a quiet life with her family. Being forced into a political marriage isn’t the easiest beginning to their relationship, but with time, might this duo come to realize their arranged marriage is a blessing in disguise? Can they defy the odds and find a love that transforms their lives?

Because this is a longer drama with 40eps, you can expect to see lots of filler scenes and side stories. This isn’t meant to deter you from watching it, however, as each character adds to the fullness of the story. I’m merely warning you ahead of time that the episodes don’t always show a lot of interaction between the two main leads (but no worries, they still get lots of screen time.)

If you like historical dramas with
- familial scheming
- brotherly love
- hidden agendas
- loyal servants
- wives and concubines
- delulu girls
- “court politics”
- protective men
- justice being served
- beautiful sismances
+ more, then I say give this show a watch.

The Leads are both great people. I love that, from their first interaction, the ML only has eyes for the FL. Not so much in an insta-love kind of way, but she intrigues him like no other ever has. The things that she’s constantly getting berated for are the very parts of her personality that he enjoys most. And he’s never afraid to defend her and protect her against those who seek to put her in her place. He always keeps her in mind with every decision he makes. And though some things are out of his control and he has to do things he doesn’t like (iykyk), he still does his utmost to care for and protect her from the potential pain it will cause. He’s a total green flag! He never wants to use foul means in his schemes for recognition, nor is his goal to hurt his brothers. In all his attempts to make a name for himself and achieve some power, he’s never malicious or unkind. He’s genuinely good and trustworthy. He’s hidden his talents and downplayed his smarts for year - now’s his time to shine!

The FL is so cute and sunny, but not in a TSTL or annoying way. She’s innocent, but not dumb; naive, but not clueless. She’s uneducated in the ways that are important for an official’s wife, but that doesn’t mean she’s not smart. Her strengths simply lie in other areas. And I’m so glad that we get to see her blossom under the protection and nurture of the ML. He never tries to hold her back, but rather wants to offer her the sky to soar in. And soar she does… She works hard to be “worthy” of the title and position of his legal wife (which, side note: she’s married off to him as a concubine because her status doesn’t earn her the position of his true wife.) She matures and grows, but never loses herself along the way - she stays true to her beliefs and morals, no matter what difficulties arise. She’s a constant source of strength and encouragement to everyone around her, bringing smiles to their faces and ease to their hearts.

And speaking of being his “side wife”, I don’t want to give any spoilers, but I will just say DON’T PANIC when the ML’s parents force him into another marriage. It’s all going to be okay and, honestly, this show has the best plot line for this portion of the drama. So don’t let that trope keep you from watching this - the trio are aces together! 🙌🏻

The Leads are honestly such a good duo throughout the whole drama. I wish we’d gotten more of them being them without all the surrounding drama, but alas, that’s not how these shows typically go, haha. Their bond of friendship and love was so strong and pure. I really liked when they celebrated the things that set each other apart from what their society deemed acceptable/proper. They were always encouraging one another to follow their hearts rather than allowing the constraints of the rules to break them. They supported each other’s endeavors and defended the other against any slander/malicious attacks. They were loyal, steady, honest, and true. I’m definitely glad I took the time needed to watch their story unfold.

This is filled with both humor and heart. Not only do they have a beautiful relationship with each other, but they share great friendships with others as well:
-The FL formed tight bonds with her husband’s legal wife, the second and third female leads, and the Solar Term Ladies (the name of the third lord’s wife and SIXTEEN concubines!! 🤯).
-The ML had a great relationship with his fifth brother, then later with his third as well.
-They both had super cute and humorous friendships with their closest servants.
-Their servants formed tight friendships too.

So, yes, there’s a lot going on and sure, some scenes could’ve been cut/shortened to make it less episodes but I still enjoyed this drama and recommend it to those who enjoy their historical dramas a bit on the lighter side.
