i would like to state beforehand that i am an atheist by nature and legally a hindu. i have no plans of seeing this drama whatsoever but the comments specifically targeting one religion and its followers doesn't seem pathetic and islamophobic to everyone specially in the current political environment?? the comments saying only one religion's followers are this rabid is insane when hindus have banned several movies in the past over the most non-offensive things and sent threats to the actors and christians were after sabrina for her feathers music video. just because we are atheists, it shouldn't give us a right to disrespect other religions specially when you are putting it down while comparing it to others. maybe if everyone let people follow their faith while upholding theirs, the world would be a better place but alas a drama is apparantly way more important than basic human empathy and tolerance now.

would have been one of the best dramas out there but the forced plot completely ruined the vibe. they should have stuck with the calming and slow paced plot smh

the biggest actor in china currently in terms of fame and prestigious acting awards is jackson yee (though he is a movie star and doesn't do dramas) who came from a popular boy band and later switched fields when his acting career took off. underestimating someone because they come from a musical field is lame af.

her mother is a product (or more accurately, a victim) of the patriarchal society as well. her actions are extreme but from her point of view, all her fears are manifestating in the form of the younger daughter being in danger and she alone has to bear that burden because her husband and marital family have been doing nothing but making her life worse. even qingyu have grace for her mother and still comes back to her because she understands why she is acting erractic, too bad the viewers are missing the nuance.

i am gonna go against the tide and say i don't even hate the mom. yes i hate some of her extreme actions but more than anything i pity her, she is a victim of that family as well.

y'all are directing your anger towards the mom when the real problem is the dad. it's his family which caused all the trouble but he is spineless in front of his parents and brothers and never stands up for his wife despite knowing she doesn't really have a say in that misogynistic family.

so it was really a relationship between cousins? literal incest that's crazy

i am confused about the teasers. was beiyu in relationship with their cousin? from what i gathered it seems there's some conflict regarding his parentage but it still doesn't make it any less weird. or was he actually abusing her?

the posters for this show are kinda terrible no shade😭 like the vibe is very similar to tff but the posters for that show were well made to show the melancholic vibes (not the current one on mdl that one is horrible). i wish tencent would release a better poster.

i have been seeing people calling my girl spineless and saying her best friend would have been better for her but how do you watch the bond they formed during all those years and how utterly infatuated they were with each other and think it can be replicated with anyone else. it was literally once in a lifetime love for zhu yun like yes he said few things he definitely shouldn't have and was let off too easy but he was the only one with whom she ever felt real happiness. i can't even lie i would be desperate to get back to what we had if i ever experienced a love like that

i watched the first few episodes but wasn't moved tbh. i am still gonna continue because i am really liking anyu in this and i feel this has good potential to be good later on specially the angst

i feel gaslit by social media regarding their chemistry because i am seeing none! and it's nothing to do with the kiss because some historical cdramas don't have the leads kissing until after 20+ episodes but you can feel the romantic tension between them.

one year since peak television aired. thank you xiao heng and xue fang fei for changing the trajectory of my life

this bizzare obsession cdramas have with killing off beloved side characters just for shock value needs to end fast. they did the same thing with the double too and it did nothing but sour the experience.

i think i might genuinely tear up watching the last few episodes

they literally do this with every drama lol they said the same thing about 'the double'. don't take them seriously

they were excited as hell only to get interrupted i would be so frustrated😭

that was one of the craziest make out scenes i have seen in a drama they were devouring the fuck out of each other. cdrama kisses really be embarassing the kdrama ones. loved how badly he wanted her but his actions still had a touch of tenderness and gentleness to them. and the initial awkwardness because they were shy my shaylas🥺

yeah i am not worried about getting them in the show because they have been doing a good job at rewriting his character so far. what i was shocked at is the sheer amount of people defending this behaviour when it's literally not normal or romantic at all.
