bingo. their individual plots would have better showcased how different they are with each other. romance shows should strive to do what they are meant to do-focus on the MAIN LEADS and their romance. nobody gives a flying fuck about these extras.

they could have focused on their individual plots like sangyan's bar and yifan's journalism career like they did with HL leads. incorporating stories completely unrelated to the main leads breaks the flow of the story.

summarised everything i was feeling. the unnecessary elements in the show are souring the experience to a good extent for me and i don't get why it's necessary at all. a story entirely focused on the leads would also be sufficient to fill the 32 episodes but god knew this show would be too powerful without some annoying elements to it and we can't win😞

+1. this is one thing i desperately want the show to inculcate which wasn't in the novel, i.e. the FL seeking help for her physical state as well as a therapist either on her own or Sang Yan encourages her to.

yeah i mean ofc we all know he won't but from what i remember by this point she realised her feelings for him and was actively chasing him. surprised to see this sudden deviation where she is seperating herself from him again. hope the writing is good in the coming episodes.

can someone please remind me if wen yifan suddenly deciding to live seperately was part of the original plot as well since i don't seem to remember anything? if it's a new original thing they are adding i hope there's a solid reasoning behind it as well.

they are adapting everything else so well from the original but why this deviation to make the side characters WAYY more annoying than they were in the novel? doesn't make sense at all.

the side characters are getting annoying and souring the watch experience at this point. why are we getting more of mu chengyun and now a whole new female character instead of the literal second leads?? could have used that time to progress their story i feel like we don't see them at all now.

also agree with some people about the poster here. the previous poster with the subtle lights on their faces portrayed the melancholic and yearning vibes the overall show is going for so well. this new poster makes it seem like a generic romantic show. i wish someone could change it back :(

tbh both of those shows only got interesting after quite a few episodes (specially HL) and this hasn't even hit the 50% mark yet.

76 years later and still no update from netflix... i think there's some distribution tussle between netflix and youku and we will only get the episodes once the show ends tbh. i know i can watch on sites but i wanted to enjoy this in hd quality instead 🥲
