I totally agree with you.
To answer your specific questions :- They start to acknowledge their feelings around Episode 8-10 and their first official kiss is in Episode 15, but keep an eye out for two indirect kisses and a cheek kiss before that!🤭
The shift in their relationship takes a little bit of time, but it’s honestly so worth it once you get past those early episodes!
Speaking of Xiaofan (Evan), is anyone else getting slight red flags? I know it’s early, but the way he spoke about his past dating experiences was a bit disappointing but I’m curious to see if his edit changes.
Current Favorites :-
Girls: Liu Jiayi and Chen Yijia
Guy: Enda and a bit Zizheng ( i'm still not sure about him )
I’m hesitant to lock in any ships because i don't see any potential yet and also bcuz we saw so many ships sink last year (RIP Kelvin & Pu Yan from 'Love Wins All' and Le Chan & Yuan from 'Heart Signal 8').
That said, I still have my delulu ship - Enda and Liu Jiayi. Even if they didn't interact much, I can tell they’d look so good together!🤭 Can't wait to see how the dynamics shift next week.
I hope more people read this and choose kindness. She is a lovely soul, and I’m so glad she has fans like you and me (and the SAL cast) standing by her.
I still miss my ChiWei
I also don’t think she’s just 'following' him. While he’s street-smart and dealing with the dangerous syndicate stuff, she provides the emotional stability and home he never had. Even her offer to take care of him in China shows she has the brains and the will to plan for them—she’s just ambitious about their shared future . To me, she’s not a letdown; she’s someone who knows exactly what she wants, and right now, that’s him.
I guess we can agree to disagree on her motives, but I personally see her as a character who simply values human connection over a traditional career path—and there's a certain kind of strength in that, too.
I totally agree that Jin Zhao’s growth was the saving grace. If he hadn't fully owned up to his mistakes, Jiang Mu's forgiveness would have felt like a weakness rather than a strength. Do you think the show would have been as effective if she had been 'harder' on him, or would that have ruined the vibe of the story?
It’s a great choice for your next watch. Hope you enjoy it .
Minor Spoiler: There are some misunderstandings and a bit of a 'push-and-pull' dynamic in the middle, but their chemistry keeps it from feeling too depressing. It’s more of a 'growth through struggle' vibe than pure tragedy.
