Akkun and Hashimoto have a lot of great lines and I’m glad it’s all being shown matter-of-factly on TV (and eventually Ida’s volleyball friends too if they want to include that part).

I know some ppl say it’s an idealistic world and a “BL quality” or whatever, but imo it’s great that a drama aiming at young viewers and portrayed idols who have great influence over young fans can show that this is the way attitude towards same-sex love should be. you don’t always have to show queer characters being bullied and discriminated to make good impact.

the hashimoto slap was great lmao. also Ida sports scenes omg, and the way he looked at Aoki and sighed in the hallway scene omg…how swoon-worthy. in any other other manga/j-drama he has the components of the school prince with girls screaming when he’s walks into a room lol, but in Kiekoi world he’s just our dense boy-next-door :)
ah it’s progressing so fast that it’s already the school trip next week. they’re gonna be dating for half of the show whew

(btw if you look at the cheek kiss page, it’s kinda just the back of Aoki’s head so don’t expect too much)

idk if it’s a COVID thing since it’s set in a restaurant. they also switched the post- festival scene from restaurant to school

great comment. also I just want to add that for gay men to latch onto a female first love during their teenage years is very common and not “unrealistic” at all. it’s the result of growing up heteronormative and knowing nothing else. iirc the manga even has a scene where Aoki saids he has this imagination about his high school love life beginning with just any girl asking him out and it’s hard to imagine himself dating Ida.
it’s valid for OP to feel disappointed bc of personal identification, but on the other hand there’s nothing wrong with Aoki being gay. especially since he got his shit together, became honest with his feelings, and didn’t try use anyone as a beard

it’s kinda interesting how the drama added in extra insight into Ida’s POV. he was kinda an opaque figure up until this point in the manga but I really felt the bittersweet-ness of this ep’s last scene

imo they hinted quite a bit just by the actress’ acting when Akkun is around. the part when they were taking the picture of the 4 of them was a huge one that some ppl are gonna be “ooohhhh” about later

but yeah I think Akkun not being in props was a direct consequence of making Ida the only guy left in props. they even switched the order to Aoki volunteering for Cinderella before Ida being chosen for Prince to ensure this lol

the drama’s theme song just had it’s first TV performance today. it’s so cute and the lyrics are perfect for Aoki and it’s huge that Naniwa Danshi dedicated their debut song for the drama bc they’ll be sing it for the rest of their career so pls support
