I think it is clear that they were monitoring the situation, and trying to determine if things would settle down. But, the show’s popularity is leading to intense visibility and backlash for the actors and production team. They shouldn’t have to risk their careers to keep airing this show in the current climate. I love the show and the delay will be painful but it is clear that there is a fire situation surrounding TXN and ZY and I would hate to see them suffer the way Zhang Zehan did when he was cancelled after gaining popularity with WOH.

Great synopsis. I will say, this show is bringing up memories of when I had a crush and pursued and dated someone when I was younger who was much more experienced and aggressive than I was, and some of these scenes feel… very real to that dynamic of attraction., in liking someone but not ready to go at the same pace for intimacy., and how that plays out over time.

There has been intense social media and negative gossip / rumours surrounding the show and its lead actors that is causing a level of domestic attention which is worrisome for a show that is not licensed in China. Tian Xu Ning is facing calls to remove him from a different show that he is filming due to the controversies and risks being banned. He has a legal team looking to squash rumours. Revenged Love has gone silent on international social media platforms - which may be deliberate to protect their actors and let media attention die down.

Have the hot searches on Weibo gone down at all? Is the legal letter having an impact on stopping the escalation of rumours?

It is all speculation - no official update so everyone is scared and worried the series may be cancelled or edited. The official show media platforms are silent and may be waiting to allow Tian Xu Ning legal team to file lawsuits against rumours before continuing to promote the show.

I feel like they got a warning somewhere to go quiet. (Whether from investors, govt, management, legal). I assume they have reasons to hold off, take stock, and then make a later announcement.

It seems like there is an attempt to let local public controversy dial down. Without knowing anything specific, perhaps if the online noise quiets, (and the controversy doesn’t continue to be picked up in newspapers) then the episodes can release, otherwise they may delay to avoid harm to the actors and producers.

Chi Cheng discovers that whoever is responsible for guarding his snakes has started to sell baby hatchlings and therefore, the snakes are being guarded by corrupt people who could possibly be located and exploited to sell or exchange more of his personally raised snakes for store-bought ones. Wu Sup Wei comes to a similar conclusion and they both, separately, locate the people willing to sell the snakes. The plan is that eventually, the replacement snakes will antagonize Chi Cheng’s snakes that are still being held captive, and they will fight over Territory and start dying. When that happens, Chi Cheng’s father will be compelled to move the remaining snakes, giving them an opportunity to intercept the transport van and rescue the rest.

Based on the official released stills, my guess is it is the start of that scene, which can also be seen in the First Series Trailer and it will get cut off at the end of Episode 10 and continue in Episode 11 just like with what happened for 5&6.

I think that Wu Suowei is deliberately trying to make himself enticing bait for Chi Cheng to pursue, and CC’s prey drive has been activated and he is enjoying the chase, while also trying to understand WSW’s motivations in orchestrating these events. I think CC likes the attention, is attracted, and also a bit charmed by Episode 4. After hearing WSW’s “confession” to only knowing that he likes him, CC is willing to chase him home and keep the game going, and throughout Episodes 5 and 6 gets more attracted and frustrated by WSW’s deliberate attempts to seduce him while keeping him at arm’s length. By episode 7 and 8, they both seem to care about the other genuinely after the constant pushing and pulling.

Agreed! I watched the series on Viki first, and afterwards watched the free 1-4 episodes on the main YouTube Channel and the subtitles really convey the flirtation much better and put the reactions and scenes better in context. I am now thinking of subscribing to the YT channel to watch the rest.

I can’t decide if the extra scene in Episode 2 where he clocks that Wu is scheming means that all of CC’s actions from then on are deliberately trying to get a rise out of Wu and push his boundaries and understand his motivations, and how much are driven by simple attraction and responding to being pursued as a romantic interest? For example, loaning $200k without question, threatening the corrupt snake seller, walking in the park, going on the dates, etc… It seems like both are scheming against the other but then real feelings start intervening by Episode 5 and onwards.
