On The Emperor's Cook Aug 20, 2016
God this drama was a tearjerker. I am absolutely wrecked by the emotional train and it was so beautiful. The acting was superb by Sato Takeru and Kuroki Haru, their love was deep and surpassed time and death. This entire production is amazing from beginning to the end, the story was deeply profound and showcased the Japanese spirit through cooking.

About to give this a try, can someone briefly explain to me the historical aspects of this drama, like what year AD is this suppose to be and what significant historical events occur in here and which characters are based on real characters recorded in history etc? It will help me have some perspective when I start watching, thanks!

On Kangchi, the Beginning Aug 18, 2016
Trying to feel the monstrosity of Kang Chi transforming into a beast but all I see is glowy eyes and... maybe claws. Um... Beast?! Sorry looks like a human who got something in his eye. Alright just color me bloody skeptic, I don't understand why Kang Chi and his father are so eager to become human for. As it is now they heal immediately from wounds and is free of worry about death, starvation, money and pretty much every need that plagues humans. I honestly don't see a bad in being a mystical beast. Not to mention apparently they are compatible with human females and can make babies. Seems like a win/win situation, just stay a mystical creature for peeps sake!

This drama wasn't my cup of tea. For a show about soldiers I expect the men inside to at least look like they can take a punch instead of looking pretty for the camera.

I remember when I was 9 and watching Princess Pearl she was extremely pretty and gorgeous back then. But the years go by and she no longer has that youthfulness characteristic of girls in their early 20s. Unfortunately she seems to love picking roles of 18-25 year old girls still and they only emphasis on her real age instead of making her look younger. I'm still a very big fan of hers however.

Wow, I did a double take when I saw a commercial with her. She looks exactly like Jeon Ji Hyeon.

Amazing movie. Wow I can't believe this is from 2006 (why didn't I watch this back then?). Amazing acting by both the actors, they really brought out the emotion for this movie and the chemistry. Also loved the way this movie let silence speak for itself. The dark cast of the theme until the end where it suddenly became bright as the morning rises. Beautiful imagery there! Lovely film <3

is there anything i shoud know about the history or stuff before watching? i really don't know history at all,…
You don't need any know-how of history to watch this drama. In fact it's best if you don't try to fit the clothing and time period of this drama into Chinese history because you'll most likely get a headache trying to figure out what year AD this takes place in. Just buckle on and enjoy the show :P

I'm more fond of the 2002 version because Huang Rong was better in that version. I feel Lin Ariel is too 'cute' and a tad too 'pure' looking for the role. Huang Rong requires a maturity that she lacks. I do think Hu Ge made a better Guo Jing, however Guo Jing is a fairly boring character because he is just so consistently loyal and hardy. I feel Hu Ge's acting since 2008 post his accident has stepped up a notch and he is much better now in his dramas.

Trying to watch this drama and so far only made it to 5 episodes in 2 days. This show simply isn't holding my attention. The narrator really creeps me out. Whenever he talks in that cool, unaffected voice of his, it makes me think 'stalker' and totally breaks the tone of the show. Also, Jiang Xin gained weight. Her stylist needs to adjust to that instead of picking outfits that intentionally make her look fat. I'm not saying she's fat, but a little extra weight on top of poor choice in clothes just seems to emphasis it.

Title Boss & Me
Watching this drama for the second time mainly for Zhang Han. I love his big grins, they never fail to make my heart skip a beat. But sadly in this drama his role is more of a ice-prince so he never smiles <_<. That's a critical error of casting imo, why cast a actor with an attractive grin and never have him smile. Anyway I have a few pet peeves about the female protagonist here since she is just way too hare brained. The entire time when the boss is falling in love was very far fetched. She ate a lot and he fell in love with her for eating, great, that's completely believable.

He really outdid himself in The Classic of Mountains and Seas. Even though I watched a few of his other dramas in the past I was not impressed by him as an actor until The Classic of Mountains and Seas.

I enjoy watching this drama but it kinda copying fushigi yuugi anime/manga... some plot and character is similar…
Yea I did! >.< It's confusing when I was trying to match the characters to the anime xD I liked the fact Nuriko's constellation was Liu, but they changed and gave it to Shi Pei Pei. They also changed the location of their constellation mark on their body! Darn it, I really liked that Tamahome's was located on his forehead. Incidentally Nuriko was my fav character and he's sort of cross-dressing/transgender and in the drama here they just decided to have a girl play the part.

Yes it's weird because the rest of the cast seems to be on page w/ Fushigi characters except him. Su Mo kind of reminds me of Miaka as well except smarter haha. I'm actually a little irked that they decided to go for a cold faced, good looking guy who is royalty and raised as highborn to be the primary love interest here, a blatant bait since the ice-prince thing is known to be popular in dramas. On a bright note O MY GOSH I squealed a little to see Wu Leo here! He was super adorable in Nirvana in Fire, and gosh this kid can act! His screen time never fails to make me smile.

I watched this because of the high rating but I guess I'm in the minority (or maybe the only one lol) in the fact…
I have to agree with beloved89, plot wise this drama was full of holes and explainable things. Communicating with the past and changing the past further complicating any logic the story might have had. Also the portrayal of the police force was so unbelievably incompetent it was unrealistic to the extreme. Apparently all the police force are stupid, corrupt and greedy people, only exceptions being the main characters. Yea right. -eyeroll- I wouldn't call it a 'critical masterpiece' unless you really believe what this drama is selling you.

I've been hearing good things about this for a long time alr. But I have never tried watching full Chinese historical…
Trust me 54 episodes will fly by. This drama is a page turner, it literally doesn't have any fillers and feels like watching a long movie. I don't know any drama that doesn't take. any. rest. but this drama doesn't. Literally you don't get to relax because more and more plot and intrigue just piles up. The only time I took a breath while watching was the last episode. But you won't feel tired because the humor in here is really sharp and really leaves you laughing and smiling, until it gets to a serious scene. This drama is very good at moderating viewer's emotions, making us feel the ups and downs.
