Yuan Lang also ended up as a plot device by the end of the drama too. Tbh I think due to censorship and everything else they had to cut out some side character scenes. Side character wise, Linglong and Mingyan + Wu Tong have character developments that were decent

Happy the director ended up sticking through with the happy ending and given that he (Yin Tao) worked on Listening Snow Tower, he does tend to favor happy endings (not for all of his dramas)

ZLY seems to be done with filming and I think WYB also as well. They're likely in post-production stage and negotiating the broadcast date. There are many dramas lining up this year so it's likely a 2021 drama. But as viewers we have to wait for a while :(

Looking back at my previous comment, I've forgotten to add more. When I meant redemption, it's mostly for XJ and that the drama could show more of that to wrap things up. With Baidi, I am hoping he realized his hypocrisy and wrongs then make some amends and appease the person who had to deal with him (aka XJ and especially LHJD).
As for the acting part of YBY, I agree with your acting mentors and your assessment of her performance. I've seen some dramas where one partner would "out-act" the other one. The other one would end up getting flack with criticisms. May YBY's future projects help give her more experience and hopefully her crying scenes will improve.
I agree with your statement that better balance was needed for this drama. I am not sure if they have rushed for this drama as the filming ended sometime around August. So post-production seems to have last 6 months at least. Might have enough time to make it cohesive but I also understand if they could not as there are difficulties behind the scenes.
There was a rumor going around they had budget issues and scenes that needed CGI would take a decent cut in their budget, hence they might have edited out those scenes to reduce the amount they needed to spend on CGI, but who knows.
The part where you've mentioned LXY's interview is also something I'm looking forward too. Let's hope for that decent execution of the big reveal!

They had to shoe in A Lan (that girl in red) somewhere and she was in the novel but briefly. The drama sure does drag the angst a little bit more than needed. Yes, the fake wedding was campy. As for XYH, felt the part with her and Ruoyu involving the Lingzhi to serve only as plot device. I agree her death wasn't much of an impact, but then again I am not too attached to her character.
That part of the portal with WT and XJ... was totally jarring and the cut was obvious.
WZQ&ZH reunion wasn't that emotional and I think the show is starting to skip over some side characters' interactions in favor of other plot points.

I know Baidi will still cause trouble and I hope the show is able to execute his realization of his wrongs.
As for YBY... I agree her emotional scenes could definitely be improved on, but her acting so far has been decent. Although WZQ isn't play into the story as much, but I felt without him, our couple wouldn't get as much needed help aside from Teng She's, Bro Liu's, and of course Ting Nu's help.

They will show it in the later episodes. I believe ep 48 or 49 shows a bit of the heaven's past and the batch eps of 54-59 will bring up XJ's past that includes GoW

WZQ fought the battle against Heavens with MSX.
Dijun split them into two people or rather into many parts so he could use a part for heavenly weapon, and a part to become God of War to fight for heavens. MSX had the heart and soul.

MSX is played by a male. Basically since XJ is already a female, then they made MSX a male...but really the actor is playing LHJD (the united form)

I agree rom-coms aren't the type to flex your acting skills and I wouldn't considered ZYX as seasoned as others who took on more serious roles. Still, she's doing pretty decent. It seems like she might take up more serious roles or less comedic roles based on her MDL.
You're right this drama could have up their writing level, but sadly censorship has been affecting a lot of dramas I've watched so I come to accept it. Love challenging dramas, but they're a few nowadays. This drama is still good to me as well.
LOl to LXY's bts. The main cast of this show are quite different with the characters they're portraying like Mickey He. The mountain clips were so funny. YBY really embodies GoW at times while LXY is like a senior. I do relate to his fear of heights lol and climbing mountain is tiring aha. He needs someone to get him those helicopters lol
Not sure if the whole novel is full on human viciousness but at one point it will go into that (maybe later half I am guessing). I just remembered the first half was pretty light. Hoping for the show to release their whole OST.
And yes to WZQ & ZH!!!
This show has one of the better supporting cast characters, namely the demon team.
