It's a drama after all, so the cringe parts were added to make the guy relevant. Otherwise he would've been Superman. I do agree, it could have been written better.

You are right about the flawed and toxic characters but towards the end most of them take the right path. That is significant development based on reality. You can't expect a person to make a total 180 in persona, that would be fantasy.

Han Gyeol's abuse is significantly toned down after the revelation. Eun Chan grew as a person, from only knowing odd jobs and how to take care of her fam to knowing and forming human connections to seeing the world. Min Yeop part was weird and hilarious because it mimicked real life a lot. Han Seong and Yu Ju accept each other for who they are. Han Gyeol finally broke free of his long ass infatuation of Yu Ju. He also became productive. Japanese dude finally understood that his uber caring came across as creepy so he lets go.

Baby steps. The only unrealistic part of the show was..going abroad for years to be a ...barista ?! She better have used that intricate kaffee knowledge to grow her hubbie's business.

If it is for censorship or cultural purposes, least they can do is ..meet them half way, like not outright redeem them. Make them work to be on the good graces again.

ML go on blind dates ? That wouldn't work. Because the FL very well knows that no other girl can neither get his interest nor can touch him because of the trauma. Only her, and the mother. Later when it is revealed that there is another girl who the ML is quite friendly to (as a friend), that does get the FL a bit jealous which was cute.

Wouldn't say the sisters were jealous. But very protective. For obvious reasons. Family, protective instincts and some guilt.

It's a cheesy show anyway so all the cheese tropes are there. It is the performance of the actors that has made the show popular. Aside from the ML brother. That dude is the acting equivalent of a log.

I'm hopeful for Shine on Me. I hope Gu Man's show has reasonable characters like You are my glory and not hysterical ones like love o2o.

Fair. I didn't feel that though. Perfectly moderate for a pure no nonsense romance drama. There are other shows in this category which are of the snail kind. Love me love my voice, Forever and ever etc. Only 'The Best Thing' has a faster pace. But because there, both the ML and FL were talkative, unlike in this one. Perhaps even Hidden Love too.

It was a bit over the top but I also get Bai Shuo's reaction. She grew up around people who thought she was nuts, 2ml is one of the people who not only knew that she wasn't, but he also is from the divine. No worries, the show is going to throw so many curve balls at you that you will forget about this soon lol

It makes sense in a way that, it wouldn't make sense for either of them to give their universes up. They have duties, responsibilities, families. Sure, they can defy and manipulate time to hang out, date. But the male protagonist is a monarch and a sovereign. He needs to settle down, produce an heir..so on so forth. Unless he decides to abdicate at some point and other family lines inherit the monarchy. I guess it's an open ended fantasy ending but given what they went through together, it was unsatisfying.

But happy nonetheless so, I will take what I can get.

She's in 'The Best Thing', and plays a much more mature, grounded character, and nailed it. The writing here was questionable but she's quite capable.

I found it quite interesting. Often in modern CN romance dramas, the adjacent plots are a mess. But the Billiard plot here was in sync with the romance. Side characters didn't steal much screentime with nonsensical plots. But if you are not into billiard stuff then I get it. Also, this drama is a gem for us introverted fellas lol

When the dude finally got over his insecurities and got some sense knocked into him, it was cute that the fl didn't outright accept it, and made him work for it a bit, in a good way. Probably one of the strongest nicest kindest and emotionally stable female leads ever, in drama land.

There are plenty of lighthearted romance shows, the problem is 'memorable stories'. It is not easy to write a story without proper conflicts, and make something straightforward enjoyable. For every 'Amidst a snowstorm of love (strong adjacent plot to romance)', there's 'love me love my voice (weak adjacent plot to romance, also lousy acting from one of the leads)'.

You shouldn't have. It's an average series but her character development is the focal point, and how she becomes stronger, what are the things that finally wake her up etc. It happens late, but it does.

Yes she is, but also in the show, she admits all her flaws. She acknowledges that she is flawed, works on them, comes out on top. Although redeeming the mother was unnecessary.

The drama redeemed the mother, unlike in the darker source material. As far as I know, Xu cuts her out. A person like that doing a 180, very rare so it felt jaded. And Song saving her, so cheesy. Why did they do it ? Filial piety ? Censors ? The First Frost, Yifan cuts her trash mother out in the show, so it's not censor.

Decent show but Yang Yang is a lousy actor. Also too lanky to be a firefighter.

I guess, them both being in a crappy family jail, the foster brother developed an unhealthy infatuation, as they could find solace in each other. "2 caterpillars stuck in a cave". By the end, when they got out of their shell and the family dynamic improved, his infatuation perished with it. Weird shit, but understandable.

Redeeming thing is, the dude was just possessive and over protective. He did not harm Xu in any way.

I am a sucker for sci fi and high fantasy so I didn't have a problem with it. Pretty good show. Only the ending for me is meh

It is understandable. Within 16 episodes they crammed in time travel, parallel universe and the concept of reality warping. So a bit messy, is expected.

Happy ending, just underwhelming,,and doesn't make much sense.
