When a drama mimics real life, only then we can relate. There are nonsensical stories of course, but mor often than not, they do happen.
Two characters having interest in one person doesn't automatically mean it's a love triangle. The second lead pines, yearns but does not actively pursue. Heck, he never even replies to that one Varsity text for crying out loud lol. It is the FL who is getting over her unrequited love while experiencing true 'true' love from a better person. Also, everything would also NOT be the same removing the sml. Who would you compare the ML to then ? It shows how much of a better deal the FL is getting compared to what she could have ended up in. It also shows the SML not taking his chances, despite having so many opportunities.
FL doesn't get mad like crazy. She just goes quiet and frowns for a bit. It just took one explanation text for her to melt. As for Asian parents metaphor, most of the time it's only parents who have unconditional love for their children. If a parent thinks that his/her kid was in a serious accident and could not reach them, getting a good scare, later whatever noble the cause is for the kid not to respond, would get a beating first then explanation. So the FL being mad is perfectly logical here.
What are you talking about man ? I am relating everything that you have said to real life. What do you mean by "You like to quote real life.... except when it doesnt suit you" ? The FL needed to get over her past threads, heal and the ML needed to fully let go of the grudge that he was holding, how unreasonable it might be. Both fully commit after that. It's not like there is a set of rules that you have to follow for dating.
As for the blame, I only watched with subs. I don't think there was a moment where anyone was directly blamed for the accident. I recall FL's Dad and ML Uncle Sheng Bokai saying something about ML courting the poser FL for monetary reasons, and crashed the car while driving carelessly. As far as I can recall, the "blame" is not having sympathy after the crash.
With so many issues you gave it a 9/10. I gave it a 8.5 lol

Your first point, that is how crushes and infatuations work. No sensible reasons. While you might need one to understand, it just happens a lot, in real life. "Love triangle should be taken out from any drama.", then this story wouldn't make sense. I wouldn't say it was a triangle. There was no push and pull. Just moving on from one side to another.
Your second point, people getting mad at each other when emotions are involved, don't always have to be logical. Made sense to me. An example would be, Asian parents beat their kids' asses when they give their parents a scare, before comforting them. She just acted pissed, where did a demon come from ?!?!
Third point, Waiting for 24 episodes isn't ridiculous at all. Both of them needed to be sure. I mean, from a story point of view, it made sense. Could the show have done with a shorter amount of time ? Perhaps. I don't mind it.
Lats but not least, Also no one ever blamed anyone for any accident. The ML was flabbergasted because the person who wanted to see him did not even bother to show up and see him/or even text words of consolation when it ended his carrier that he cherished. Maybe he was a bit unreasonable but you are watching a drama, not a Neal DeGrasse Tyson science show.
I'm at ep. 6 and so far the ML is way too petty for my taste. Like over the top petty. They have to fill 36 episodes…
Episode 7 onwards, everything changes. As for holding grudges, well, pain can affect people in many ways. It is easy to judge from a distance. ML does say at some point why he did not clear it up early ,,forgot when though. Mid series maybe.
You can see the VR setting as the psyche or the inner mind of the ML. That place was his solace where he could…
Oh yea the synopsis and the early hype were misleading, I agree. Maybe got lost in translation. Anywho, the quality of the show itself made up for it, perfectly.
Out of all the ongoing dramas I'm watching right now this one pulled me in and was the one I completed while all…
You can see the VR setting as the psyche or the inner mind of the ML. That place was his solace where he could be himself, until one day the FL barged in ..rocked his world. The closer he got to her, the lesser the VR/inner mind scenario played out. He met her there, found out that the FL had been struggling with her feelings when she went on a faux Qin killing spree, declared his love there with the wild CCTV captured kiss and when the world came crashing down on him, the FL came back to him in that place as well. And of course, the end credit scene as a tribute, a completely new brighter psyche where the person who became his strength and partner, greets him.
I dropped this after 5 episodes. I'm a bit sad since I was excited for this after seeing a clip of the couple.…
It is a modern Cdrama with all the usual tropes but, those are done right, unlike the unrealistic cringe ones we are used to seeing most of the time. From the start till end the show keeps its focus on the main leads and does not pivot off to other nonsense.
every time Zhuang Xu appears on screen I get depressed! 😂 so I fast forward most of his screen time 🤣
Well, he was depressed the whole time, makes sense to be the same for viewers as well. I wouldn't fast forward his scenes though, unless it's a second run. His doom and gloom is the major catalyst for the primary romance.
1. I found the ending for the secondary male protagonist sad, but he brought it on himself. I will learn from…
Budget, I guess. The worst thing was the Shuangyuan Photovoltaic sign in front of their office lobby ..that shit was made using MS Paint and rendered with a toaster.
i know the ML is popular but i cant seem to like him. SML is better for me. up until the very end, i want the…
He would have, if he wasn't a helmet. His provocation, insecurity and the general Stevie Wonder vision were the biggest catalysts for the FL to end up with the ML lol
seriously! she was the worst written character! i understand she didn’t know but still, she was with a murderer…
I thought she was very well written, they wanted to show us a flawed human, and we got to see exactly that. Poorly written means nonsensical. There's nothing nonsense about her character. There are plenty of bad parents around.
It's a lovely cozy drama. I get the high rating because despite a rather simple story, the show explores human nature, emotions, flaws, society and how people deal with each and every one of them in a very realistic manner, resonated with many viewers. One of the very few modern Cdramas which captured all of these with profound realism.
We all have seen these tropes, these people and dynamics before but very rarely coherent and well done. Felt almost every emotion that they wanted to convey.
Kudos to the actors and staff who managed to do that.
I liked this drama a lot.. but a wedding or even any hint would've been really nice ;-; i mean that's the specialty…
I don't mind that there was no wedding, as the FL pointed out a few times about it. Also, twice engagement-wedding trauma so.. it's a good thing that the writers did not do that for the couple endgame.
The ML's mother is so cringy. She abandoned her son, f@cked the enermy who framed and killed her husband for 20…
Poorly created, nah. Realistic ? Very much so. Not all parents are great. It elevates the ML because he didn't turn out to be a sociopath or consumed totally by revenge given the upbringing he had. He distanced himself from the madness. It also shows how a person would turn out from that environment, the second male lead.
