Such a nice drama!! After being disappointed with a few dramas in a row, I am finally very happy with my choice of what to watch. This had everything you need: mystery, love, comedy -- and in the right amount as well! Gong Hyojin proved her amazing acting abilites again and made me not regret choosing her as my favorite female k-actress. I was very pleased with how all the other actors did as well.
The reason why I didn't give this more than a 9 is that there were times when I got slightly bored or times where some things felt slightly awkward of forced. Otherwise I loved every single thing about this; very much recommended!
If you're wondering about the horror part of this, it isn't scary and there are no jumpscares. It is creepy at most, especially at the beginning, but the further you watch, the less it will bother you. Personally, I eventually started to just analyze the ghosts' makeup. :'D
After completing episode 7 and seeing the preview for episode 8, I'm not that sure of where this drama is going.…
Oh, okay, thanks for replying! :) About the eye color, I thought he has yellow eyes because he isn't in contact with blood but just seeing the visions. But maybe you're right! I just hope the explanation will come in this season because I don't want to wait for season 2. :D
After completing episode 7 and seeing the preview for episode 8, I'm not that sure of where this drama is going. I still quite enjoy it, but.. Exorcism in the next episode? What kind of detectives are they then?!
Also, why is San not creeped out by the whole vampire thing, why does blood not affect him and why didn't the light thing, which the old man turned on to kill Yona, affect him either?
I really hope there will be an explanation to all of this, otherwise my rating for the drama will really drop even though I really like it. :(
Just finished this and ... I have only seen positive comments on this drama, but I am obviously going to be the first one that's quite the opposite.
For me, I probably would've quite liked this, if they didn't ruin it with too much comedy and scenes that are not needed. Call me weird, comedy has never been my favorite genre (since I can't stand stupid people and awkward situations), but you have to agree: the 'comedic' scenes really started to go overboard, I got tired of them in about episode 9 and I only skipped through all the next episodes except for ep12. Everyone on here is talking about Lee Gun's laugh, which yes, was probably the most annoying thing, especially at times where it seemed like he's just laughing into people's faces, but! Why is no one talking about all the screaming and them randomly having powers? Also, why did he keep calling her a snail? Idk, I don't find it cute, especially if that's how he started to call her when he was mad at her. And some of the scenes made him look literally insane.
Anyway, I can't argue with the people that love this drama, since it has a strong romantic story, but for me even that got kind of boring in the second part of the drama.
I won't say you shouldn't watch this, but if you are like me and like stuff that is more mature (?) than this and isn't filled with ridiculous things, I suggest you to think twice and if you don't like this after the first 5-7 episodes, don't continue this. I don't think you'll miss out on anything.
I don't think it's overrated. I really enjoyed the drama and everything that came with it, especially the humor and the cheesy romantic moments, and the bromance of course. Yes, I did notice some plot holes as well, but it didn't set me back at all. It actually makes me sad that there are so many people hating on it.. :( While it's totally not the best drama I've seen, it is a great way to spend 16 hours of your life, because the addiction it gives you is just !!
This drama was really addicting at times, it's the first drama I've managed to see 4 episodes of in one day (I usually just am too impatient to sit in one place for so long) and I really loved the main couple and the acting of the main leads. However, there just was something missing, and i wasn't able to watch the episodes without checking what's up on my phone (there have only been a few dramas where I forgot about everything else while watching them), so that's why I gave it (only?) 8.5.
I do really recommend you to check this out though, I think this drama is worth watching, so don't feel discouraged by the negative comments. :)
Yoo Changsoo x Lee Jiyi from High Society!!! They became my #1 favorite pairing in the dramaland, and they were the reason why I gave the drama a 9. I loved them together so much. ;-;
Fell in love with him during High Society (Changsoo x Jiyi are still my #1 OTP in the dramaland), so I'm super excited to see him in Hwarang, especially after seeing the pictures that came out today. Hope he'll do really well in it and get more recognition. :')
Finally finished this today. And it makes me so relieved! I expected this to eventually become more and more interesting, and after episode 8 I really felt like maybe I'll finally start enjoying watching this.. In the end I think it might've been better if I just dropped it. I did not find it interesting, I can't say it was draggy, because a lot of stuff was happening -- and sometimes so much I really got confused. Especially in the first episode(s). I kept on watching this to see how the two main lead's relationship would develop but in the end I couldn't even really believe they actually have something, I did not see the chemistry.
In the end I am quite dissapointed, I expected something much better, but now the rating I ended up giving this drama is 3.5..
I did not know this drama has so many bad comments. This was the first asian drama I ever watched, and as far as I remember, there weren't many moments I was bored, nor did it seem draggy to me. As I remember it was really easy and fun to watch, yet it did have some darker stuff, like the fights. This drama made me really fall in love with Sungyeol, I really liked his acting here, but, as far as I remember, Woohyun was pretty good as well. :)
If you're wondering whether to watch this, I'd say you should give it a try, at least for the first few episodes. It really good me hooked and made me excited to watch more dramas later. The only thing I wasn't that fond of -- I wanted the ending to be slightly longer when it came to the main couple, but it wasn't the worst ending I've seen, so it's okay! :)
Just finished episode 8 and it's the first time while watching this drama when I feel the need to start the next episode asap. So far I don't really get the hype about this drama, like the first episode was super boring and the acting was not good. I remember pausing it in the middle and then procrastinating to watch the other 30 minutes.. But it picks up a bit, and the acting gets better. Also, I very much think that this is going to be the only drama with Bae Subin I'll ever watch, his facial expressions are too.. I don't know, weird. :D
I feel like Hwang Jungeum is also the best actress in this, Jisung's somehow slightly lacking. But that's just my opinion, I'm not hating on him -- or Bae Subin, by the way!
the wrist grabbing never really bothered me, but the rest really does and it makes it really hard for me to watch. i hope all the sexism and abuse would eventually completely disappear from the dramas, but it's still going strong today, so.. :/
great article, by the way! it made me take out a few dramas from my to-watch list (like Coffee Prince and Autumn's Concerto) because sexual abuse makes me super super uncomfortable..
