ahhh yes I like that analysis...preserving his legacy bc clearly his sons were incapable of doing so; and he only values their worth in terms of business capability

if I'm understanding correctly:
- Mr.Sima's 4 sons thought their inheritence had something to do with Tengda so they tried to take over. But they failed, and it didn't seem that Mr.Sima intended it to be that way anyways
- Mr.Sima funded many others like PeiQian (per 4th bro)
- Mr.Sima lives in a poor area, which he says keeps him grounded and tied to his roots; but he actually lives in a house on top of a very tall building with a helicopter that picks him up and drops him off. Any little thing he does on his house creates an impact for the people who actually live in the community (i.e. sprinkler system sprays a little bit over his property, causing "rain" for the residents). So while in his mind, he he community, he is very much detached. The world is controlled by the richest and most powerful people, and any little decision they make affects the small worker ants tenfold.
- The first time PeiQian visited Mr.Sima in his house, he was awestruck by the magnificence of his house, however, the second time he visited, he did not have rose-colored glasses on - and saw the house for what it was - old and under repair. PeiQian now values friendship over wealth and extravagance (Is that right? or did it just so happen that they were doing renovation for no reason??)
- While chasing wealth (by aiming for company losses) and bare-minimum work ethic that was necessitated due to toxic work culture; he found the importance of relationship and passion in work instead.
- Mr.Sima's company (under its traditional corporate structure) has been declining; hence, PeiQian rejected Mr.Sima's offer to continue funding Tengda bc he doesn't want Mr.Sima to gain control of how they run (although, Mr.Sima wanted PeiQian to continue to run it).

I guess I'm still not understanding why Mr.Sima invested - (just for the fun of it? bc he wanted to take a chance on someone that he thought might succeed? - and if so, why is PeiQian so against collaborating with Mr.Sima? is it bc, while Mr.Sima gave him some basic money, etc., he didn't actually give respect to PeiQian? respect doesn't cost anything but grows relationships, which is much more than what money could give you...

I feel like there's more though!! I just can't figure it out

I agree...the very ending was a bit confusing...but I think it was on purpose to be open ended
but this was such a short drama and I really enjoyed the OST/music production, video production, and acting so....I'm not super upset about it

he was probs middle school and she just graduated college in the very first encounter
so he just now graduated uni and she's in her 30s
it is a crazy long time to remember but also he didn't exactly remember her...just remembers the encounter at his lowest point

It's what you'd expect from a mini drama
but also that side story of the SML dealing with his father putting pressure on him and feeling like he's something he's not, including hiding is sexuality (gay) was something I totally wasn't expecting LOLLL they really just slid that in

artsy scenes and sets and big mysteries but idk what I was watching tbh...
its slow paced
everyone is triple crossing each other
scenes are skipped but shown in flashbacks (which I would normally like, but is very confusing when idk what's going on)
flow of info doesn't really make sense (i.e. sometimes every little move is known by the "opposing side" else but sometimes they are clueless what the "opposing side" is doing, so you might assume that sometimes they have spies but then sometimes they don't??)
decisions that people make also don't make sense..."masterminds" get tripped up on stupid mistakes or blind trust
"evidence" that they work so hard to get is all soft evidence (and are all things they have already guessed and believed to a point that it fuels their revenge)

honestlyyyy ep 25 and 26 are satisfactory bc it answers questions that I had at the beginning
but if I had to watch this again, I would watch Ep 25, then 26, and then watch from the start bc I was SOOOO confused in the beginning

it's alright...but honestly its not really like Whats Wrong with Secretary Kim
I would say its a drama filled with typical Chinese drama cliches and an added main premise of a great secretary that is trying to quit and a boss that is narcissistic

ML and ex-gf broke up bc she thought he was poor and couldn't provide for her

yah I think the beginning is the most confusing...I feel like there isn't much of an intro
so the first ep...FL and ML are already together, so then they escape to M Country
ML and FL have been together for about a year, but also they have lived in M Country for about a year
ML and FL originally got together bc unbeknownst to her, FL was the ML's target. They both are trying to escape from the organization, but ML occasionally still gets gigs from the organization. FL was a top agent bc she grew up in the academy, but ML is not bad either (he got shot but then was still alive??)
am I missing anything? and am I crazy for thinking this does not make sense at all?? I like fast-pacedness, I feel like there should've been an episode spent on backstory

I also agree....the subs suck. I understand some Chinese, but the choppy backstory is not helping give context either. Like the subs translate the name GuNianRu as "Confucianism" or "scholar" and YanYongJun as "handsome"

fast paced, cute moments, good acting, hilarious

I can't tell if their lack of understanding/sacrifice for eachother is a lack of compatibility or them being stuck in the love they had when they were young without great responsibility

the lack of chemistry in the main leads chemistry also doesn't help...
either way this is definitely a filler drama

I still liked the drama tho!

even though the ML is still not great at communicating, there's still character development, so the story still moves forward
pretty satisfying

no...I think SML was under the impression that his mother only married his the guy after he was born.
so no one has never known who was the father of Song XingYue's son

Storytelling quality is that of a vertical drama; but instead we have more screen space and a bit longer episodes. Aight for a quick watch
