didn't read the book but according to the online synopsis, its bc his sister was injured in a car crash indirectly caused by Fang ZhiJing (I'm only on ep 6 and I don't think I have met him yet...but I think it's someone involved in their business). So ML beat up Fang ZhiJing and got sentenced to prison.
plot twisted badly with smart but dumb characters - should be a short drama.
towards the end was a little more cheesy dramatic...not entirely sure how it could've been better, but it wasn't the worst I've ever seen but I don't think it should be any shorter (just looking at the quality of shorter web dramas like those 5 min or even 10 min one...no. I have never seen a quality 5 or 10 min web drama...30 min with 24 eps is ok in order to get decent execution of the storyline).
honestly underrated!!! the storyline is unique enough and production isn't too bad (ehh maybe a handful of weird voiceovers and awkward greenscreens scattered). But I really loved the characters and the execution and I think production for the most part was not too bad. definitely *the* best modern rom-com *web drama* in 2022 perfect length for the storyline (if you really calculate it out, it's like a classic 12 ep k-drama)
it's so rare for a web drama to get me so invested

have not read the novel but GUARANTEEEE he's falling for her just by the way he looks at her although it is possible that he's just amused or curious (but hey, that's the first step) and honestly I have full trust in these actors...they really be hittin the points ep 6 had a seen where ML was waking up from crouching over (falling asleep at the base) and I swear he had a crusty in his eye HAHAH (joking, but I could imagine)
I think he loops her in honestly bc she's a good student. She's not the top scorer but she's pretty smart and she works hard. She's been spending a lot of time learning coding with Gao JianHong. And Gao JianHong didn't really know coding before the class either and he's on the team.

totally agree! I definitely didn't appreciate her in those first eps making the FL do everything even though Fang ShuMiao is the one who signed up for the responsibility of class monitor but I think that's what her personality is (there are a lot of people like that): selfish, self-serving, making others do what they don't want to do; but at the end of the day, I still think she's a decently loyal friend (not a backstabber) wouldn't be surprised if she does something stupid later on that unintentionally hurts FL though...its that kinda vibe
