i don't want to be that person but the cover already looks like some fever dream. i know jiang yiyi is a decent actor, but i hate to see her get put into these kinds of roles. she looked a lot better in love of thousand years, and it suit her better too. honestly the cover just scares me lmao like what kind of stuff is gonna go on in this?? haha
having watched most of it (not all), i love how yingluo is intelligent but has a fun personality. she's really unique and wu jin yan playing her is so iconic.
i watched the trailer and yeah. i didn't watch the drama. the fantasy and costumes were really not it. guzhuang/realistic dramas are my cup of tea. from reviews, the second half isn't promising. i don't know whether or not to consider watching it, but from the looks of it i won't.

there were times i felt like boxu was just plain rude, and moments when i couldn't stand janice's yelling/nagging. from the start they never seemed compatible to me, and it seemed so forced. they don't compliment each other in personality and the "romantic" scenes were so unnatural. the kiss in the pool? just,,why. the kiss on the ride seemed forced too, zheng just did it when zhen zhen wasn't attentive. i feel like boxu is just unlikable. he's pretty rude to the company doesn't confront his problems in the right way. way too impulsive.
i found this drama because it was tao's newer dramas, and seemed pretty lighthearted+easy to watch. but i found his character so unlikeable. zhen zhen was 1/2 pushover 1/2 naggy. they could've worked if the characters had more complimenting personality traits. but they don't. the business aspect was pretty cool though. it makes the drama make a little more sense.
i liked this drama way more than i thought i would. janice wu's yelling/sorta rude scenes irked me though. kind of reminded me of an angry mom scolding you for doing something wrong. the speed skating was really refreshing though, and i found it so cool that they learned how to speed skate/play ice hockey just for the drama.
this was so angsty. any time lan tian was mad he'd just drink or yell at someone. the drama definitely could have been cut a few episodes, and if it happened there wouldn't be such a drag. JJY did well in acting but the character she played was so indecisive with her choices. the whole pregnant scandal was so annoying to watch aghhh..but it wasn't terrible. i just remember thinking "wow, how many more episodes of this are there?" because the plot was going no where. it was good, but the bad, but alright in the end.
i still can't get over the ZYC/ZLS duo but i have high expectations for this! i swear if the FL is an impulsive/immature girl i will throw my chair out of the window.
the romance was great but the cgi...meh no thanks. it was cool to see ZLS act a more angsty/serious character, and i think she did well. even though qin chuan was winging it most of the time, jiuyun kept her sane. i really loved zheng yecheng/zhao lusi together, even in the behind the scenes they have a lot of fun and just make fun of each other. i think the middle events would have been so much better if they were executed right. the cook/gongziqi episodes were so boring to me. i think it would have been a lot better if those episodes were replaced with qing chuan in the palace snooping around to get information. xuanzhu volunteering to track the prince was way too easy. just made chuan's efforts seem easily resolved.
besides that, i started liking ZLS from this drama specifically. at first i was so disappointed that jiang yiyi was replaced (she was STUNNING in this drama oml) but i grew to love zhao lusi. it's honestly so cool to see a young actress that has so many dramas coming up. she really hit the jackpot for actresses, she gets a lot of opportunities and does well in every one she is given.
anyways, this drama could have been WAY better if the execution was different. they focused on the wrong things and the open ending got me thinking up a ton of questions. but wow ZLS and ZYC were stunning. the chemistry was immaculate ;)

okay you have a point but just bc this is a cdrama doesn't mean it's some brain-washing government whack. don't make it about that. i agree mujin can be really annoying sometimes but jinxiu wasn't specific enough. if she told mujin what happened right away they'd obviously plan to escape even if it was successful or not. you can't tell anything by someone coming up to go you going "hey let's leave." she wasn't specific and because she lied and said everything was fine, mujin didn't bother to suspect. it is partly mujin's fault for not pressing her further but jinxiu was no better. she likes to go "ugh my life is such a tragedy, i wasn't blessed from the start..." even though she did everything to herself. jinxiu is NOT just or fair. she resulted to killing others for power and didn't care at all. you can't solve your problems by killing all of your buddies and then complain when it doesn't go right. please don't argue with this, just sharing my opinion.
after reading a ton of reviews and watching 2 episodes i dropped it. i absolutely cannot cannot cannot cannot cannot stand dumb/impulsive/immature FL's. the whole universe built around the story felt pretty fake from the minute i heard of it and the fact the FL left the sect for some random guy was really weird. i literally knew from the very start that those "nine moves" would either be destroyed or unused for the "better of the world." it just wasn't exciting for me. i like chen yuqi as an actor and i feel that she has a lot of potential, but the roles she plays is always unlucky. as feng mian wan, she had to pretend to love a literal wooden plank, and in this drama she has to be a childish and impulsive girl. i honestly think her acting is okay but the characters are so ridiculous.

the first time i watched, it was pretty alright. i do notice that yu menglong's part could definitely be better if they cut out the scenes of him just staring into nothing. i also didn't like jing ci thinking that everything he did was for the better and he was looking out for mian wan. most of the times he was but i found it especially weird that he was all "just forget everything and you'll live a better life" to "pls remember everything or else some random dude will steal u :(" like,,,do you want her to remember or not?? chen yuqi did really well though, especially since she had to interact with a very unresponsive/aloof character 24/7. i do admit though some scenes were really cute. This definitely would have been a better drama if the ML was more expressive and you could read his conflicting emotions better. for menglong you kinda have to guess if he's staring into space or actually trying to express the character.
I loved the colors and JJY's wardrobe however I find that Yu Menglong's acting was kinda stiff and half of the time he would just stare at Ju Jingyi with emptiness. I find Ruyi's story totally whack and really unneeded, but I do understand the need for an annoying character that makes life harder for everyone. This could have been so much better if the ML was replaced and there was more visible care/affection between Suzhen and Xu Xian. My biggest compliment for the drama is probably the colors and theme. I get people don't like how dull it looks but I really like it. JJY did really well, especially trying to portray Suzhen's care for her husband. Too bad Menglong wasn't helping ://
