not so tragic at all! if i remember correctly, crown prince and wenxi are together and wenxi is pregnant. the ending is just like that, no other explanations like if they got married or ascended the throne or anything.

i was really excited to see another ZLS drama but it looked disappointing from the first few episodes. the strange costumes weren't visually pleasing and i noticed (which skipping around episodes) the chemistry was lacking. ZLS did well on her part but i was so surprised her voice was dubbed by someone else. it kind of took away part of her personality, if you know what i mean. imo it was okay, but not much more.

yuqi did so well x), but alan..? acting was a bit questionable as he seemed to have the same stoic facial expression…
there were tons of scenes where he was literally staring into space. chen yuqi and xiao lu were a great pair and i enjoyed their acting, but yu menglong conveyed no emotions whatsoever. i get jing ci is a more serious character but istg his scenes were so boring.

is this worth watching ? I'm hesitant to watch it.
if you have time to kill, go for it. the colors are pleasing to look at but the acting isn't it. chen yuqi did alright but alan yu truly was out of it. there were so many scenes of him just staring into nothing and being unresponsive to the FL. the plot itself is a little unique/different but prepare to watch for visuals, not the plot and acting.

in the book i'm pretty sure she goes back into the modern world and wakes up to find it was all a dream. in the OG story she's a modern day doctor but transmigrates into the ancient Chinese dimension (?) because she got hit in the head by a patient and blacked out.

yeah, totally agree. i think the fight scenes in this drama are executed very well and isn't just the average "turn left and right, swing your sword, drop kick someone, and then run." i love the trust between yikang and lige. even if there isn't much romance (understandably), i find their relationship quite interesting and cute.

many, but not all. i think it's more of a "what does the audience like?" question rather than a "how can i make this character have depth but also have a personality?" i think the reason why it's such a used personality is because people in china like to watch the silliness/don't mind it. you see, the production team isn't looking for a well-written drama. it's looking for elements that can help make the cdrama "红," or "popular" within mainland china. they could care less about other people watching, because they don't contribute as much in terms of money. it doesn't necessarily make cdramas "bad," but just makes the "silly FL" type really overused. i admit, i don't like it much. that's why i have a hard time looking for dramas i like in most aspects.

i know it's a cdrama. i'm fine with the typical but if she just causes a bunch of problems other people have to clean up then i'm up and out. there are a bunch of cdramas with more mature/intelligent FLs. song of glory for example. the FL is capable. i'm fine with the type of FL that's kinda stupid and immature, but if it's over the top and extremely dislikeable i have trouble watching. it's just a preference thing.

i do think that jingling betrays them at some point. it was in a trailer when he became a totally different person…
he probably got angry/jealous of liu yikang for some reason, and then got manipulated into turning against him. i don't think the change will be better, because (in the trailers at least) he becomes very angry and pinned on killing yikang.
