So, you believe a few, very loud internet attention seekers present a representative cross-section of Indian/Indonesian…
Oh my gosh, English is your SECOND language? Yikes. Consider hitting those books and worksheets a little harder, and focus less on Korean girls in Genie costumes.
So, you believe a few, very loud internet attention seekers present a representative cross-section of Indian/Indonesian…
lol yes. I have a say in whatever I choose to comment on. So do you. That's how it works. No one cares if you're Indian. It's that simple. Literally that simple. You seem to misunderstand how comment sections work here. You don't control who comments under "your" comment section. lol Anyone who damn well chooses to can comment there. That, too, is how it works. No one cares if you're "offended" by Korean girls in make-believe Genie costumes dancing. Forget about that, and get to work on your condom and nuclear weapons issues. Here, I'll do it again: People on the Internet crying about Korean girls in make-believe Genie costumes are attention seekers with nothing better to do. Oh gosh, no. I don't feel superior to Indians in general, any more than to my fellow Americans in general. You feel inferior to America, and since I happen to have been born here, you feel inferior to me.
So, you believe a few, very loud internet attention seekers present a representative cross-section of Indian/Indonesian…
Please quote me where I "told you how to feel and how not to about this..." issue? I stated my opinions, as did you. It's your insecurities that make my opinions sound like orders to you.
I'll say what I want wherever I choose, but thanks anyway. I don't care if you're offended by Korean girls in Genie costumes. Talk about it all you want, dear, but don't expect sensible people to care.
I have a say in this matter because I am an MDL member and, like everyone else here, I am free to comment on whatever appears before me on this platform. You may not like it, but I don't care about that either.
Keep yourself out of the business of what I concern myself with. It's simple.
So, you believe a few, very loud internet attention seekers present a representative cross-section of Indian/Indonesian…
"...Sokor toxic cult..." More bigotry. Nice.
I suppose I should consider that living in what some refer to (cause I would never do that) as a "gutter country" while SK has soared upward over the last 50 years, is painful and embarrassing for you, leading to this ugly resentment toward the Korean people. Thus, I won't hold it against you.
I did a bit of research to help me understand your bitterness, and boy, do I ever: India per-capita income 2025: $2,878 (144th out of 145 countries) India population: 1.4 Billion Korea per-capita income 2025: $34,640 (23rd out of 145 countries) Korea population: 51.7 Million
You poor dear. No wonder you're so hateful toward SKorea. Envy and jealousy often lead to bitterness. Perhaps your angst would lessen if you focused more on abating the hatred and killing between Hindus/Muslims and campaigned for your government to spend what little money it has on condoms rather than nuclear weapons. Just a suggestion.
Oh! I also learned that over the last 15 years in particular, India as a whole is becoming increasingly xenophobic. (I thought you'd like to know that, since you're worried about the xenophobia in Korea.) Muslims are especially undesirable, but also various other ethic groups from surrounding, smaller countries like Bangladesh and Myanmar.
Well, and then we have your famous, ancient hatred between Pakistan and India, your not-so-friendly neighbor to the North.
A couple of friendly suggestions for a happier life: Focus on what is messed up in your country, rather than what is going great in Korea. That way, you'll feel like you're contributing to the improvement of your own sad country, rather than caterwauling out of spite at a much smaller and more successful country. I hope that helps. I want you to be happy!
Finally, thank you for giving me reason to do this bit of research. I knew all the above in a general sense, but your vicious spittle-spewing gave me cause to check out the details. I love to learn! :D
You're welcome!
P.S. I already know Donald Trump is an epic shithead, so I don't need assistance in learning about that. I knew you'd want to help me out in that regard, but I assure you I did not vote for him and I do what I can to make sure he doesn't destroy the US and possibly the world before he's voted out or drops dead.
Also, America is quite fat and uneducated. Thirty-four percent of adults are overweight. An additional 40% are obese. Fifty-four percent of adults read at or below the sixth-grade level. We are also a systemically racist and homophobic country. A significant percentage of the population is generally stupid af. That cohort includes MAGA Trumpers, of course.
But, on the other hand, we still have the largest economy by GDP in the world ($30.5 trillion, $11 trillion larger than our nearest competitor, China), and our per capita income is ninth. I suppose that's part of why I'm not spittle-spewingly bitter.
So...I want you to know I understand your pain much better now. But do try to worry less about Korean girls in Genie costumes and more about your own xenophobia, religious/national hatreds, poverty, and birth control issues.
Hope that helps! :D
P.P.S. I know people who live in places such as your country watch everything that happens in America, even as you simultaneously hate us. That's how you know Trump thinks he deserves the Nobel Peace Prize and is why you are a Taylor Swift fan, after all. Anyway, that must be a really awkward feeling for you. I wish I could help, but don't know what to recommend. Maybe again, focus on your own shit and not so much on ours and South Korea's.
So, you believe a few, very loud internet attention seekers present a representative cross-section of Indian/Indonesian…
Lame try, child...
THIS is your quote to which I referred, and you well know it, which is why you attempted to obfuscate:
"Half of them are selfish and only have a mouth to speak when it comes to their own community's "miseries," and the other half are even more degraded and care only about themselves; neglecting even their friends when required."
You are an anti-Korean bigot. Take your racism and cultural prejudices elsewhere, sister!
What a weird thing to say. It sounds like you’ve never actually experienced racism or had your culture mocked…
"...you’re using appeal to personal experience as if your story automatically makes you an authority on everyone else’s oppression. Your experience is valid, but it isn’t the universal template."
Well, of course not, Dori. Only YOUR personal experience automatically makes YOU an authority on everyone else's oppression. Only YOUR experience is the universal template." (Thanks for making this easy. Your complete lack of self-awareness helps a lot.)
I didn't "pivot" anything, Dori. That happened in your head. I shared a bit of my "lived experience" as a retort to your attempts to label me as "privileged" and thus lacking perspective. But for some reason, only other people's oppression matters to you, specifically that of Indian women who do traditional dances in traditional garb while smiling, or something. My oppression is strangely irrelevant to you.
First, you brush me aside as lacking standing because of my lack of perspective, owing to privilege. Then, when I share some of the basis of my perspective from oppression, you brush that aside too. You seem to think only YOU get to pick and choose whose oppression/lack of same lends them standing.
Nor did I say every form of oppression is "interchangeable," Dori. What you DON'T get to do here, though you've done a great deal of it to this point, is just make shit up, then respond to it as if I said it. YOU are the great inter-changer here.
Hmmm...YOU get to assail "stereotypes" based on identity, but when someone notes that you are policing identity, your panties get twisted. Nice how all of this works in your favor, Dori. Nice for YOU.
You ARE an are arrogant, flaky, twit, Dori.
We're still waiting to hear about YOUR "social location," Dori. Your reticence is noted.
What a weird thing to say. It sounds like you’ve never actually experienced racism or had your culture mocked…
"...but that doesn’t suddenly make you the authority or expert on racism, colonialism, or cultures you don’t belong to."
No, Dory, because we all know YOU are the authority on all of that, given YOUR direct experience living under the heavy yoke of racism, colonialism, and cultural prejudice as a rich white girl at Barnard College.
"...you can’t speak from the social location of, say, an Indigenous person under settler colonialism, or a Black person under systemic anti-Blackness, or someone navigating xenophobia outside of your context. "
Oh no, dear Dori, I can't do that. Only YOU get to do that for some reason you have yet to be clear about. hahaha
"Your social location gives you a lens, not the whole picture—and dismissing others’ realities because they don’t match yours is exactly the arrogance you accuse others of."
Well, of course, Dori. Only YOUR lens, there at Barnard, gives YOU the whole picture and allows you to know and speak to the realities of the oppressed even though you don't know that experience directly. And that perfectly-attuned lens gives you the crystal-clear vision that justifies YOUR arrogance.
You are a joke/cliche, entirely lacking self-awareness. Thus, your opinions are irrelevant. Oh, we're still waiting to learn your race, ethnicity/nationality/gender/financial situation/etc., oh and the all-important "social location," Dori. What is yours, again? I forgot, from when you refused to say earlier.
So, you believe a few, very loud internet attention seekers present a representative cross-section of Indian/Indonesian…
"... their deliberately offensive antics are just making excuses for themselves."
Could you explain, please, how it would be in the interests of a Korean entertainment company to "deliberately" go out of their way to get people like you stirred up and offended?
"Half of them are selfish and only have a mouth to speak when it comes to their own community's "miseries," and the other half are even more degraded and care only about themselves; neglecting even their friends when required."
The above is pretty amazing, but also instructive. You just denounced the entire population of Korea as selfish/caring only for themselves/degraded/neglectful of their friends (that last bit is hilarious). After playing the victimized ethnicity representative here, you proceed to put another ethnicity/nationality into a box and trash them. Hypocritical af, child.
So, you believe a few, very loud internet attention seekers present a representative cross-section of Indian/Indonesian…
I'm American, so I guess we're even...? Did someone tell you you couldn't say whatever you want about this? Since you speak for the whole of the Indian population, I wouldn't want to stifle you. However, I will laugh at whatever I choose, including what you say.
I hope you also tell people who make jokes about Koreans having small eyes and eating dog meat to keep mocking…
America has a ton of problems. It's full of stupid people, and Trump is running the show. I'll not be adding your inferiority complex toward my country to my list of things to worry about.
There are many false equivalencies and BS assumptions in you're comment. I feel zero obligation or urge to respond to them.
But I will continue to laugh at what I find funny. Knowing that doing so irks tight-ass, insecure people like you will enhance my merriment.
What a weird thing to say. It sounds like you’ve never actually experienced racism or had your culture mocked…
You're a self-righteous twit who refuses to share the facts of their background, class, finances, ethnicity, etc., all while shrieking about other people's background, class, finances, ethnicity, nationality, culture, etc. You put people into little boxes so you can tell us all how victimized they are, but scream "don't box me in" when asked for your own origins/background. Pathetic.
Are you seriously implying that YOU do not engage in insults and identity-policing (that's another great term you must have picked up in those Psychology of Systemic Victimhood classes you took at Barnard), and irrelevant nitpicking? More monumental lack of self-awareness.
Your entire point of view here is based on "identity-policing," child.
I'm terribly bothered and upset.
I was going to rate it higher, but the ending is a cop-out.
Dropped

What's your "lived experience," Dori?
Rich, American white girls have zero standing to bloviate on oppressed cultures the world over.
BTW, given the user profile/demo at MDL, it's an honor to be considered a "troll" here. I've earned it, sister.
Now, about that "social location" and "lived experience" of yours, I and all those who hate me here are still waiting to see your bio, baby. Bring it!
Clean up your own side of the street before worrying about what the "Sokors" are up to.
