There is no way I can watch this film. The Caucasian lead is also (coincidentally, I'm certain) the screenwriter and he is a terrible actor. Not many things in film annoy me more than directors/writers/producers who cannot act, nonetheless doing so anyway and thus, destroying their creation. Not many other things in film annoy me more than screaming queens who can't act, OVER-acting their queen-ishness and thus, taking us all over the cliff with them into hellfire and damnation. Christopher McCombs cannot act. I will never know if he can write because I can't bear any more of this audience member abuse, to find out. The second lead, the handsome, built mixed-race dude, is slaying me with that deep, resonant voice but again, I'll never hear more of it because I cannot stand the other guy. Just awful. It would be nice to see him unclothed, but a scene of these two making love would destroy me, and not in a good way.
So out after 16 minutes. Yes, you can learn all of the above about a film this bad in 16 minutes.
I’m fascinated to hear that you struggle with this so often with Japanese film female leads. If I were to hazard…
Curious as to what BL you watched and what you thought of it. The overall quality has dropped over the last year or so, unfortunately. I don't bother with Thai BLs past 2021, as every one I've tried turns out to be garbage made for the fluff and unicorns crowd, which is sad, given that Thailand pioneered BL dramas. All of the first ones I watched were Thai, which was great fun because they had all completed airing, and thus I could binge-watch. That's all I did for about two months. :)
There are a lot of custom lists on my profile page if you're interested.

Hello.
I mis-wrote above. Where I said "pre-2020," I meant to say "POST-2020." I'm American (please forgive me for Donald Trump-I did NOT vote for him) and am familiar with a great many pre-2020 Hollywood films, but not many international films of that same era.
I discovered Asian cinema/dramas just five years ago and became a fanatic almost immediately. I joke that perhaps I was Asian in a former life, as generally speaking, I connect emotionally and psychologically with Asian actors/characters much more powerfully than with Caucasians of my own ethnicity (German from all sides). This is a fascinating development; before 2019, I could count on one hand the number of Asian films I had seen in my entire life. By now, I have seen hundreds.
Actually, I stumbled across the BL drama world first, which quickly led me to the wider universe of Asian cinema. I don't watch many dramas. I find most of them drawn out and tedious. I rarely watch anything from China as my small boycott in protest of their ban on gay media.
So interesting that you've studied in and will return to Japan to live. I avidly follow international political, cultural, and entertainment news, but have physically ventured outside US borders only to Canada and Mexico. I salute your adventurous spirit!
Yeah, it’s really disturbing to hear about. It’s important to wait for the full facts and let the legal process…
You write well. It is unfortunate that most of what you write is delusional.
"... but your definition of it seems to be ‘protect the accused, vilify the accuser.’" How can I "vilify the accuser," ? We are prevented from knowing who she is.
KK has ALREADY been "cancelled." His guilt or innocence doesn't matter in the slightest. I'm sure you are glad of that. You're not interested in justice; for people like you this is just another opportunity to make yourself feel morally superior. Ummm...you're not.
Yeah...you seem pretty desperate to me.
For the record, the only show I've seen KK in is the BL he did. I am not some crazy fangurl. I am, however, sick to death of seeing Knetz crush people like him and drive them to suicide.
With his group membership gone, his agency firing him, his loss of endorsements, and his very freedom in jeopardy, this young man has already been wrecked. What need is there of a trial? It will make no difference. He has already been pronounced guilty and punished severely. The charges should be dropped, and you can wait with bated breath for him to take his life.

You aren't waiting for facts, you're already referring to this accuser as a "victim."
There's a big problem with your "waiting for the court to decide schtick:" Kamimura Kenshin's life and career have already been destroyed, and there is no going back. Any observer of KJCNetz culture knows that. Meanwhile, we have no information about the accuser's identity, as it is kept private. If KK is found innocent, she'll go on with her life, unscathed. His life is over.
This is the main reason there are so many celeb suicides in Korea/Japan: once you're accused, the damage is done. There is no going back. If the law were fair regarding sexual matters, we'd know who she is, too. That would be fair.
I’m fascinated to hear that you struggle with this so often with Japanese film female leads. If I were to hazard…
Are you Japanese?
Yes, I have watched lots of pre-2020 films. I'm good with most made before 2000; after that, I get pickier. I had to laugh when you referred to "post-2020" as a movie era, because I am older than dirt and have been a film lover all my life. "Post-2020" is a blip on the screen to me. :D
That said, many pre-2000 films have not aged well and feel, even to me, dated. I like a lot of classic films from the 1940s to the 1980s, roughly. To me, there was a lot of crap made in the 80s and 90s.
Thanks for your thoughtful reply. I enjoyed it. :)
It's a work of fiction. Of course it wouldn't really happen like that. Of course in real life he would need extensive…
We are on entirely different levels of taste and requirements for world-building within movies; therefore, there is no need for us to interact further.
The obnoxiously meek, timid, mousy, weak, whimpering Japanese female you describe is the one that drives me crazy about 70% of the female leads I see in JP films. It drives me crazy and I've dropped a lot of films over that cliche character. But I've seen her pop up so many times in JP I came to wonder if that isn't a real thing that most of the women in JP do. I've asked in threads, but no one ever replies.
It sounds like you've watched plenty of JP films, so I'm surprised this is a first encounter with the stereotypical, mousy, breathy-voiced JP woman you've had. The WORST is when this character is supposedly angry or otherwise upset at some man and she starts pounding on his chest and arms/head but in such a pathetically weak manner that it's clearly performative. I'd have more respect for a woman who punched me in the face than one who weeps like a child as she flails at me with useless spaghetti arms.
Lol, what a wild take. If he really did do what he is accused of & gets convicted, then he deserves no support.
I just have to assume you're a bitter loser who primarily self-identifies as a victim. Kind of sad and dumb.
Thanks for once again proving my point by referring to KK as a "rapist," which is especially gross given that the most he is accused of is "inappropriate touching." You are a Knetz hater, the kind responsible for dozens of celebrity suicides in Korea and Japan over the last few years. Good work. Be proud of yourself.
Thanks for wishing the same as you allegedly experienced (being "taken advantage of" and being "inappropriately touched") The latter sounds especially fun.
Lol, what a wild take. If he really did do what he is accused of & gets convicted, then he deserves no support.
I hope you work out whatever weird internal issues you seem to have that cause you to project your need for revenge onto an actor/singer who you know nothing about off-screen, but whose guilt you are desperate to assume so you'll feel you got back at the likely imaginary person who "took advantage of" you; and all in a hilariously over-the-top manner, to boot.
BTW, I've seen KK in ONE show. I think he's a fine actor with great potential, but that's as far as it goes. What? You mean he doesn't know I exist? How can that be? You're making shit up to justify your vicious hysteria.
"...potential molester." THIS is the core problem. Even if KK is proven innocent in court, people like you will remember him as the "potential molester," not the good actor about whom some psycho made up a story for attention and $$$. Meanwhile, his career is already destroyed. You should be gleeful. Instead, you're raging on the Internet.
After he's found not guilty, I hope he sues this liar into oblivion and destroys HER life. I hope he plasters her face all over the Internet so we'll know who she is and what she did.

Enjoy your films!
Anyway, I dropped it. For me, definitely not worth a week wait for 15 minutes. And if I binged them, I'd be bored to tears. Enjoy!
