I'm a Jo Jung Suk fan, and this is mostly his film. I was with him all the way, loving his performance, but there was a lot of over-the-top scenery chewing in the last quarter of the film. I wish the director had pulled him back a bit. At that point, I began to feel he was going for an Oscar more than playing the character.
Lee Sun Kyun is almost a supporting role here, but as he always does, he brings charisma, gravitas, and subtlety to every scene.
Still haven't found a place to watch this in the U.S.

Do you believe that politicians spreading stories like this to draw attention from their own "scandals" is a real…
Thank you! I did follow the news closely when the martial law thing was happening a few months back, and I remember something about the president's wife being a scammer, but didn't look into it. Thanks for the link.
What happens if its true? Should they remain silent because they are a celebrity?
Bravo. The question is, would your average "salary man" in Korea be driven from his/her job because they bullied someone in grade school? And the most insidious part of all this is the lunatic idea that someone mean to someone else in grade school or middle school should bear punishment for that for the rest of their lives.
I was never bully-targeted, but I saw classmates who were, and I despised those who did the bullying. But people grow up and change; what happens in grade school or middle school should not define you for life. And if that person has matured into an adult bully, that characteristic will manifest itself in their professional life and catch up with them sooner or later.
So many Generation X and Z people are what was once known as whiny-ass titty babies; people so faux-moralistic and hyper-sensitive, that it's scary.
We want Lily Alice out and reader-contributed articles back. But I already know that neither the Doo Lally Lily…
I'm one hundred percent with you on this. This Lily Alice person is relentless with these "scandal"-mongering articles that accomplish nothing other than spreading unverified rumors and accusations. ANYONE on the planet could have put up that bullying post, but our Lily, yeah she goes right ahead with her juicy attack article.
I strongly suspect Lily Alice to be Korean. The mindset that destroys celebrities with these weird, pseudo-religious ideas that people who commit the crime of being human are deserving of cancellation and life-long penance, seems most deeply ingrained in Korean culture. And now, people like our Lily will forever think and write of this actress as "Go Min Si, once accused of school bullying..." whether it's all proven to be BS or not.
Furthermore, the idea that an adult should be driven from their career because they bullied someone in grade school is insane. I remember after I first became and Asian cinema/bl fan, encountering stories like this and thinking "what the hell is this? Is this a parody?" But of course, as I learned more and more about Korea's Celebrity Suicide Machine and its long history (about 25 years), it became apparent this is standard behavior for moral compass-free people like dear Lily.
What an embarrassing disappointment. Sentimental, hilariously over-the-top melodrama that sadly, is not quite bad enough to be good-bad. It's just plain old bad-bad. Three different times, I thought the film was about to turn dark, twisted, and delicious. Three different times I was disappointed.
Anyone who watches this film and comes away feeling that infidelity has been romanticized and made to look like a tempting option, is a moron.
The weak, grasping, clingy, flailing, and desperate Japanese female lead stereotype raises her head once again in this mess, and the further along we got, the more I wanted to smack her and yell "snap out of it, beeyatch!" I much prefer Korean/Taiwanese/Hong Konger fem fatales who tend to have actual spines.
I was going to give it a 5/10, but then the ending happened, and now it's a 2/10. Not even the walking hunk of hotness that is Saitoh Takumi can save this turd.
Cheating a form of psychological torture same as gaslighting, no-one knows how others will react to some move…
Seeing how inappropriately obsessed and judgmental you are regarding other people's love lives, I'm not surprised we've tangled on this issue before.
It is simple: To paraphrase Jesus Christ, mind your own business. Before you call attention to the splinter in another person's eye, take care of the beam in your own.
sigh...you completely ignore what we were shown near the beginning of this flick...the colonel is having serious…
Well, Gory, the fact you think your choice of words is rational and proportional, means there's no point in further engagement with you.
I didn't "terrorize," I strongly disagreed, making you a melodramatic person. I didn't engage "everyone," I engaged Nelia. You are easily "shocked," and easily "terrorized," indicating a sheltered life. I never implied or stated that "other people can't have opinions," you made that up in your head. You did all these things ABOUT COMMENTS ABOUT A MOVIE. Worst of all, you used the term "literally" as if doing so makes things you write true.
Why should he be trained if he's already trained? ðŸ˜ðŸ˜
"...not reading alladat." Anyone unable to comprehend three short paragraphs is beneath arguing with, so yeah, Sanoya, whatever you say. By the way, one of your replies above is at least as long as my three-paragraph novel that you found too challenging to tackle.
No, Sanoya, you can't "volunteer" to be a police officer and just hit the street and start beating people up.
You're tryna be that "actually anything I make up is possible" guy and it's so painfully lame I felt both hips break as I read your last reply.
Oh gosh, this is too long for you, isn't it...I'm sorry.
Why should he be trained if he's already trained? ðŸ˜ðŸ˜
None of what you've said here matters.
As soon as he accidentally kills that first innocent bystander or mistaken perp he was pursuing, or puts someone in a wheelchair for life, he is going to prison, and the company and whoever they work, be it cops or someone else, is being sued for millions of dollars.
"Therefore anything that takes place in the field of work will always be legal and instructed by the actual officer." lol You haven't the slightest idea what you're talking about. You're making it up as you go.
And please, let's not be dense: using the word "literally" does not automatically make what you write true. Now go watch your favorite movie, Officer Black Belt, for the sixth time. Enjoy!
Why should he be trained if he's already trained? ðŸ˜ðŸ˜
I guess you missed this part: "Were someone like this released upon the public by a superior officer as stupid as the one in this film, he would be a time bomb of death, mayhem, botched investigations, and LAWSUITS waiting to explode. He and the people responsible for him being in such a position would end up in jail for gross negligence and many other crimes."
Imagine if this dude accidentally killed someone he was attempting to apprehend. Now, imagine if the person he killed was an innocent bystander. All hell would break loose.; the department and city would be on the hook for a multi-million $$$ payout. The whole thing is ridiculous.
You can not just "volunteer" to be a cop like you can volunteer at a hospital or orphanage. lol
All that said, please by all means believe as you wish.
There are a lot of annoying, super-prude speech police on this site. They are the reason you and I have to think about things such as whether or not it's OK to spell out the word SEX.
On the other hand, they think nothing of calling actors vile names like pervert, rapist, abuser, piece of sh*t, etc. the moment they are accused of anything by anyone. Always ready to assume the worst, evidence be damned, they fall over themselves and each other to help facilitate the destruction of another career, eager for another celebrity suicide. I loathe them.
lol I didn't censor myself, I was mocking the idea that the word SEX needs to be censored by anyone. SEX is not an obscenity, it is a word describing a fact of life. How did we get to a place where anyone would think otherwise?
Lol, what a wild take. If he really did do what he is accused of & gets convicted, then he deserves no support.
Lol, what a wild take, yourself, Candra.
Next time you read one of my comments, please try to digest what I've written, rather than what you make up in your head. The main point is "IF he really did do what he is accused of..."
What difference would that make? The way KJCTTnetz, the production companies, and the sponsors react to accusations is AS IF the idol already was convicted. It will make zero difference even if the accuser is shown to be a nutcase who made it all up. KK has already been fired from his Jpop group, his agency, and by his sponsors. Please tell me, when and if he is shown to be innocent, how he goes about getting any of that back. Please explain how he will ever be able to repair his reputation.
All it takes is one person willing to make up a lie about being "inappropriately touched," to destroy a male idol's career. Note he hasn't been accused of violent sexual assault, rape, kidnapping, murder, or battery, but of "inappropriate touching," which could be something as innocuous as tapping someone on the shoulder without permission.
Thanks for doing your part to foment the attitude that drives so many Asian celebs to despair and suicide.

It's a good film, but not great.
7/10

Terrible.

Yes, because governments sticking their noses into private relationships is such a good idea. What could go wrong, right? :D Thanks for the laugh.

Regardless of that, this comment shows how logic-phobic you are.
All best to you.
