I don't think I've ever cried with first, sadness, then joy over a straight rom-com like this in my entire life. Straight romantic dramas, yes a few, but wow, this was a wonderful and unexpected surprise to me. This after spending the first half hour laughing like a crazy person alone in my living room.
I'm so glad I finally got around to watching this. It's been on my plan-to-watch list for ages, but I assumed it was cheesy and probably stupid. I was wrong.
Yoon Kye Sang was hilarious, soulful perfection as Jung Hoon. I'm sure I've seen him elsewhere in supporting roles but this blew me away. He is every inch the leading man, and his range as an actor, from slapstick to utterly believable angst, is extraordinary.
Han Ye Ri is without flaw as Hoon's f**k buddy-to-lover Shi Hoo. Very much the girl/woman and one hundred percent excellent. Great casting!
Hoon's buddy Joon Suk kept me in stitches. Lots of humorous scenes, but all the funnier because I felt the big heart underneath the goofball in his character.
One caveat: I wish the film would have stuck with the slightly raunchy feel it had at the beginning. It feels like that element disappeared at some point and I missed it. But I nit-pick. Great movie! Highly recommended.

Is the dead cat in the frig? If so, why? If not, why does the lead stare into the frig for minutes at a time? Other than to further confuse the viewer, I mean? Oh, and to be artsy.
When the lead was trying to revive the cat with a blow dryer, it looked more like a fake fur hat or piece of fabric than a real cat. Had he lost his mind and was trying to revive a hat?

Thanks for this. I just watched this flick for the third time, but at no point in any of my watches did I realize they were dating already at the beginning. I think there's a case to be made that the director/writer purposely left that part fuzzy. To me, a lot of the vibes between them feel like they didn't know each other before the mugging. But everything you wrote makes sense.
I think you are correct however, so now I have an excuse to watch it with you explanation in mind. I'll probably get a lot more out of it.
