What are u expecting from two high school boys who lived in the era of around 2000 in the asian country??? Please…
Honest question: Are you allowed to like and follow BL openly and publicly? Or do you have to hide your interest and appreciation of the genre?

Muhammed commanded in his writings that gay men be beaten, tortured, and thrown off high cliffs for being as they were born, homosexual. Nowadays, Muhammed's followers don't bother with high cliffs when there are high buildings close by; they simply throw us off the roofs of one of those. I am one of those men your prophet would have murdered, and that most of his current-day followers would like to see dead.

Muhammed would have beaten and killed all the gay characters in BL stories. Let's see all the Muslim girls who love BL speak out publicly about their affection for the genre and see what happens to them.

You want my respect for your hateful religion? Never.

Since you called me an "idiot," I'll respond in kind: You are a brainwashed tool.

Muhammed was a bloodthirsty, murdering warlord, responsible for the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Jews and Christians who refused to convert to his new religion.

I do NOT respect Islam because it was founded by a violent, woman-hating liar, and its ultimate aim, as taught by Muhammed the killer, was that everyone on earth be forced to convert to its tenets.

I respect Buddhism.
I respect Hinduism.
I respect Christianity.
I respect all other religions founded by peace-loving teachers.
I don't respect the bloodthirsty god of the Old Testament who gave us Judaism, BUT Israel is largely secular, not religious (do you understand the difference?), and was founded for Jews by faith and/or blood. Most Israelis are openly non-religious and many are agnostic or atheist. Try openly being either of those things in an Islamic-ruled culture.

I most definitely do NOT respect your religion, Islam, founded by a murdering warlord who demanded Christians and Jews convert or die.

All religions have at many times when twisted and abused and misrepresented by various rulers, as Christianity has many times been used as an excuse to kill and subjugate others. But those rulers were the liars and killers, not Jesus Christ himself, who taught nothing but peaceful ways of life, love and forgiveness of all others around us. Jesus most definitely did NOT lead armies and kill people right and left. He condemned those who wanted to do so in his name, even against the Romans who at the time were ruling over the Jews.

I do not believe Jesus was the son of god, but he was no army general, commanding legions of those who followed him to kill others.

Muhammed commanded his followers to kill, torture, and execute.
Jesus commanded his followers to do just the opposite, even to those who hated them.
Think about that sometime.

I have two grown daughters. If they were unfortunate enough to have been born in a country under the vicious rule of Islam, the worst of which is Iran, they would not be able to vote, they'd have to wear those horrible sheets covering them from head to toe as if they were not humans with equal worth as men, and follow a hundred other rules to subjugate and humiliate them.

You may be brainwashed into "loving" your way of life, but try stepping out or speaking your mind on anything contrary to the hateful, anti-woman teachings of Muhammed, and you'd be in jail in a flash. Some way of life you love there. The fact you'd rather die than not live like a worm is just so sad. You are the idiot, little child.

I will never respect religions founded by killers and based on the subjugation of women, no matter how many ALL-CAPS YOU USE. No educated, honest person respects such a thing.

Respect must be earned. It is not granted upon demand.

People can "understand" that your culture and especially your religion is twisted and anti-gay, anti-woman, anti-sex, anti-human feelings, without in any way respecting your culture or believing it's OK for things to be this way.

Women used to be treated like shit in the U.S. too, though they were never made to wrap themselves in sheets from head to toe so men couldn't see them and get hard-ons, but we got over most of that a LONG time ago. Most women go where they want, do what they want, feel as they please, just like your religion allows only men to do.

So no, don't expect the rest of the world to downgrade its perspective on human rights, sexuality, and human emotions to the level of your circumstances, just because you are in them.

Have you considered escaping to somewhere you can live like a human being in the 21st century instead of a slave in the fourth century?

I doubt if even the "fake" thing happens on-screen. There's no reason it would have to. Or are you saying you can't handle even the "knowledge" that in the script a dog was eaten?

Just curious.

Mate you need to take a DEEP breath, take a step back and stop projecting your own problems on some celebrity’s…
I'm done wasting my time on homophobic bigots who think stupidly-written Korean gossip-rag trash is a great thing for MDL to put on its front page.

I don't care if two or three stupid, homophobic bigots "come for me" on an MDL page under a trashy gossip rag, little article. Bring it. What? You think I'm here to convince you or anyone else? Wrong. I'm here to voice my opinion and challenge the thinking and assumptions of people like you.

Hey, ever notice that MDL NEVER features gay-related news about shows or actors on its front page? This, despite the fact there are likely close to a thousand gay-themed dramas and movies with pages on this site. Why do you think that is, brainiac? It's to keep people like you comfortable in their soft bigotry.

Finally, why are you so passionate in defense of badly-written, stupid trash being featured on MDL and in attacking my right to say what I want about it? Well, it's because you like trashy journalism and you're a bigot.

Oh horseshit.

If you and everyone else are free to assume this man is straight, then I am likewise free to assume he is gay. The only possible argument against that position, and the very one you make, is that you and most of the rest of the world are gay-hating homophobes who think being gay is nasty and disgusting, and if a well-known person decides to live in the closet, we should all STFU and play along.

Well, I don't play that game.

I repeat, if you are free to assume this man or anyone is straight, I am free to assume he is gay, even if only because I have flawless gaydar. Being gay, being who you were born to be, is a beautiful thing. It's sick you think otherwise, and again, f**k you.

All of the above, and your long-winded, bigoted comment expose you as the gay hater you are.

Title May 18
Potentially good movie, ruined by too many gloppy layers of saccharine schmaltz and cheese.
The tone in the first half hour is downright middle school-amateur with all the overacting and faux, exaggerated enthusiasm and happiness.

Middle section's not bad but then it's back to schmaltz and cheese for the roundup/finish. Everyone chatting over the walkie-talkies was especially cheesy. I have seen other, MUCH better films about May 18.

Plot-wise, my biggest beef here is that as presented in this version of events, there was NOTHING gained by all of them staying in the city hall just waiting to be obliterated. Their great leader gave them no plan of any kind for how to fight back. Downright stupid. I hope that's not actually what happened during the actual event. I don't think it is.

Kim Sang Kyung is a great screen presence, but he's poorly directed here. Lee Yo Wan seems to be a good actress, but nah, I never felt any romance between her and Kim's character.

Stop thinking like a Korean, psycho fangirl.

I have no problems surrounding my sexuality to project, dufus. But I have a brain and I have innate sensory perception abilities, as do we all, and I don't ignore them.

Your excuse-making for the weird language Korean celebs have to use to communicate with their psycho fanbase is lame and revolting. Why is any promise to do better in future acting jobs connected to an announcement about something in his personal life in the first place? I'm going to assume you're Korean and so brainwashed by this oddness that you don't even notice it.

Likewise, the comment about the "beauty" he's marrying. It's odd and childish but you don't know that because you think such a comment is appropriate. If she's a "beauty," show us a photo so we can see for ourselves. Korean celeb media always speaks in a childish, overwrought, melodramatic manner. You think it's OK. I don't.

"Stop reading into it and overanalysing it." This is what people who want me to STFU always say. However, I have a brain and I actually enjoy using it. I have thoughts and I express them. You sound like the MDL morons who say "oh this drama is great; you just have to turn off your brain and go with it...blah blah blah." I like using my brain and find no need to turn it off, but thanks.

You apparently turned off YOUR brain when you wrote this reply to me.

Thanks for the somewhat thoughtful and coherent reply. I'll try to keep my response brief, as you went off the rails with the "audacity" bullshit and it was downhill from there.

I have the right to say whatever I want about this celebrity actor who, again, I like very much and admire his work. I recently rewatched "The King of Pigs" and was impressed with his work a second time.

Why is it people say all kinds of things about celebrities, based on their impressions o f the person and no one freaks out until it has to do with their sexuality? SK's homophobic/psycho culture, which idolizes countless K-Poppers and actors who are no doubt gay, while on the other hand being uncomfortable with gay people who are open and honest about who they are, is beyond fucked up, and especially since I am NOT Korean I have no obligation to participate in that destructive insanity.

Thank you also for your summation of the sickness of Korea's fan-psycho, celeb-worship culture. However, you failed to mention how extremely unhealthy it is. Here in the U.S. we have an overblown celeb culture too, but the bizarre practice of pretending you have a relationship with an actor/singer you like, or COULD have if you met them is NOT built into the system and made excuses for, as you do for Korea.

Koreans are just as intelligent as Americans, so I have zero idea where this twisted idea of fan ownership of celebs comes from, but it is a very bad thing, for fans and celebs alike. Actors and singers here do as they please in their personal lives. Their fans aren't pretending to be in relationships with them, and people are happy for them when something happy-making takes place for them.

Our fabulous Taylor Swift, famous the world over, is now in what appears to be a healthy romantic relationship with a famous football player on my favorite pro football team, the Kansas City Chiefs. I am pleased about this because I love Taylor AND the Chiefs, but I won't hang myself if they break up.

As for my gaydar and gaydar in general, you are an, pardon the term, apologist tool. Gaydar, the innate, ephereal energy that passes between two gay people when they meet, or one sees the other, is a real thing. Lots of straight people have gaydar too, and sense when someone is gay. It is a natural, spontaneous energy and has no correlation with the culture/society in which one lives.

Gaydar does not rely on cultural stereotypes, as you suggest. I have met plenty of married men who exhibit zero stereotypical gay behavior or mannerisms, yet I knew instantly they were on my team. And they knew I knew. It simply happens. You don't have to think about it. Again, gaydar doesn't have anything to do with "behaviors."

So again, thanks, I guess, for your long apologia for the Korean public's and entertainment industry's homophobia. You've done your part to contribute to the system of thought that keeps Korea's appalling suicide rate the highest in the developed world, especially among entertainers/celebrities.

The suicide rate among "idols" is a national crisis in my opinion, and nothing remotely effective is being done to address it, other than when one of them hangs themselves or lights up the charcoal and checks out, the industry and the media tell everyone to STFU about it...until the next one.

I believe Kim Wong Dook is gay. I wish he didn't feel it necessary to do what he's doing with this marriage thing. That's my opinion, and bottom line, I really don't care what you think of it.

"I never did say you were wrong or couldn't say that he was gay in my comment either, why are you putting words into my mouth?"

YES, yes, you most certainly did, dear: "...but for you to assume he is and say that his wife and their marriage is almost like a cover-up is honestly a bit disrespectful and out of place." Or, by "disrespectful and out of place" did you mean to say I was "right?" lol

I don't need to put words in your mouth. You put them in your own, as it suits you.

In my OP, I said "I suspected" and "I believe..." and "he sets off my very reliable radar," etc. I never wrote that I KNOW FOR A FACT HE IS GAY BECAUSE I HAVE HAD SEX WITH HIM. I made it clear from the first that it is my opinion, my deduction, and nothing more. YOU are the one who came in preaching that I was "disrespectful and out of place" to draw these conclusions. Again, I made certain not to say I "know" he is gay. Yet, you accuse me of doing so.

Please read the comments you are responding to before hitting "post." Then read your reply a couple more times before hitting "post." That way, you're more likely to make sense and not have to make up more BS to cover your earlier BS.

I don't care if you appreciate my sarcasm and insults. You earned them.

"Now I'm genuinely curious, if you think I'm such a naive person in assuming that he's straight, and to not think that other guys/celebrities are straight, should I just believe that they're all gay then? And if that's not the case, please explain."'

This is just more incoherent writing. What do you mean "...to not think that other guys/celebrities are straight..." I did not reference any other specific celebrity, nor did I imply that ALL male celebs are gay, so what the hell are you talking about? lol I specifically used the phrase "...a LOT of Korean actors." A "LOT" does not equal "ALL," so why are you asking me if you should believe all Korean actors are gay? Go ask someone who actually, you know, said that they were.

You're a hoot.

Wow, maybe the best bromance ever.

I discovered Jung Woo Sung only about 18 months ago in Beasts Clawing At Straws, in which he is phenomenal, as well as incredibly hot. So great to watch him here, 25 years earlier, and see all the the talent at a much earlier, more raw stage. He's excellent. And he's hotter now than he was then.

But anyway, this is a great film. Funny, touching, charming, brutal at times, frustrating, rewarding, all the good stuff. These guys are so in love with each other, in the best possible way two straight guys could be. I did occasionally wonder why it never occurred to either, given the desperation of their financial situations, how much money they could make FAST as hustlers serving a gay clientele. Hey, it wouldn't have to be forever! :D

Lee Jung Jae is just as gorgeous in his way here as JWS, but it's the acting of both that makes this such a great watch. No false moments, no half-ass, lazy, approaches here. These guys are totally committed to the roles. Turns out I've also seen LJJ in a couple of flix much later in life. I will have to check his bio for more of his films to add to my PTW list.

Also, I admire this flick for taking its time to appreciate the physical beauty of its male stars, in a way that's generally restricted to slobbering over the female form in feature films. These two lead actors are slobber-worthy and the camera gives them their due, thank you very much.

One weak area for me was the Mimi/Do Chul supposed romance. At first I liked the easy comfort they seemed to have with each other, but that relationship never felt fully realized to me. And I didn't get her anger after Do Chul got rid of his buddy toward the end over you-know-what, and yet she was still needling DC about the guy. What? He just kicked his ass and threw him out. What more do you want? And then her nasty couple of comments made everything she'd appeared to feel before seem false. I was glad when her acting gig went south. No idea, however, why she left the boxing match near the end. Oh well, DC knows who really loves him.

Highly recommended.

What part of "which in this case I believe to be the case" do you not understand?

Nowhere in my comment did I state or imply that I "know him personally."

You deliberately misinterpreted, then misrepresented my statement, attempting to put words in my mouth which, you know, makes you a liar.

He sets off my very-reliable gaydar and always has, since the first time I saw him in a film. There is absolutely nothing "wrong" with me assuming my reliably accurate gaydar is just as accurate in this case as in any other, and drawing my own conclusions from that. I like it that he's gay.

MILLIONS of closeted gay men around the world, especially in homophobic societies like Korea, are married to women for the express purpose of maintaining a false front. Grow up.

What's wrong here is you claiming there is "nothing wrong with being gay" but then acting as if there is. My assuming he is gay is no different from you, naively, assuming he is straight because you know, he is marrying a woman and NO ONE has ever lied about being straight in that situation.

I don't care what you think is or isn't "respectful or out of place."

You are stupid. I guess you're not familiar enough with English to recognize that my comment is written "tonge-in-cheek." If you want to know what that means, google it.

People like you are exactly the reason why so many Korean celebrities live completely artificial lives, keeping their information false for your comfort because you can't handle the truth. You are only interested in knowing as much as his agency is willing to make up and put out to feed your delusions.

If, instead of a fake wedding, KDW had been caught smoking a joint, people like you would be screaming about how they have the right to know every single thing about his private life, and what a horrible person he is.

You're also the type of person who is responsible for the countless suicides of Korean entertainers/actors/idols, to this day. You lost at least two K-Pop stars just in the last six months of 2023. But I'm sure you're comfortable with that because, well, at least it wasn't THREE, right?

I like Kim Dong Wok. He's on my favorite feature film actors honorable mention list.

Also, I suspect he got married, at 40, as do a LOT of Korean actors, because that is about the age at which the career advantage of being single and thus allowing psycho, Korean female/gay fans to imagine him as their boyfriend, begins to be outweighed by suspicions that he actually IS gay, which in this case I believe to be the case.

There is nothing wrong with being gay. Being gay is great. I am gay. But I hope KDW's "beauty" is in on the plan, and that KDW and whomever is lucky enough to be his boyfriend will be able to continue to have a nice life together going forward, even as this beard-marriage serves its purpose.
lo_ve Dec 23, 2023
"They also revealed that actor Kim Dong Wook married a beauty."

Who writes this shit? Would someone report if "actor Kim Dong Wook had married a horse-face?"

"He also reassured fans that he would do his best to be responsible and show a better performance in his future projects."

This is the typical kind of weird, quasi-apologetic/obsequious/groveling crap that Korean agencies put out and Korean media regurgitates. "Responsible?" Responsible to WHO? For WHAT? Has he been "irresponsible" somehow in the past that we should worry there will be more of that going forward?

"Show a better performance..." Better than WHAT? Better than all the great performances he has already produced? Why should he have to say such a thing?

"Kim Dong Wook got married at the age of 40." How old is the bride? Why does only his age matter? WHO is the bride? Since when does Korean media step back and grant privacy to celebrities just because they say they want it? I mean, it's a good thing he's being granted some privacy, but why do I feel it's only because he kisses the ass of the media and public with statements such as I highlighted above?

As soon as this guy does something interpreted by the Netizens/media as unbecoming of his supposedly privileged status, they will rip him to shreds.

The disturbing and dangerous over-identification of the Korean public with their entertainer/idols continues, despite all the sick/unhealthy/fatal consequences of same that have plagued the country for 30 years or more, especially in the form of celebrity suicides. These actors and singers are workers who owe their employers their best effort in return for what they are paid. They do not owe the Korean general public a damn thing beyond common courtesy and respect, attributes that should go BOTH ways.
