I know all of that, and I'm asking WHY it would be "frowned upon and a societal no-no." People accept far too many unwarranted, downright dumb, societal rigidities without challenging them with the simple question, "why?" "Why" is enough to bring most holders of such views to a dead-stop. They end up saying something along the lines of "because that's the way it is."

Adaptations are often merely "based on" the original source. From what I've read here in comments, this one varies widely in tone and specifics from the Manga, yet you're predicting what will happen next in the series based on the source. Lame.

Nothing you've written describes anything "complex." Your arguments on behalf of this show you inexplicably, passionately defend as something it is nowhere near being, are as simple as cellophane. Ultra-thin and entirely transparent.

How is that a mystery? He starred with Ohm in one of the most overrated and juvenile BLs of all time, Butt Buddy, I mean Bad Buddy. Nanon and the series were terrible. Ohm was the only good thing about it.

"Eating," "speaking," "walking," "talking" are neutral, non-judgemental descriptions of human activity. "Cheating" is a loaded, negative, and judgemental term. Surely, even though you insist on using it, you would admit to that. It's the desperate need to pass judgement and denounce the person the term is aimed at that gives away the game here.

You're doing far more with that word than merely describing "an action," and you know it. The proper term for describing the action we've seen to this point would be "kissing," not "cheating," which is a value judgement.

As I've said, the most bogus thing about what you're doing is that you would use the same word to describe a one or two-time kiss and a multi-year affair involving emotional attachment and tons of full-on sexual activity of all kinds. Both scenarios are "cheating," correct. Nuance be damned. It's silly.

I've only watched the first seven minutes of the first episode, and already it's clear this is the best thing out of Thailand in years. Savvy director wasted no time getting Ohm's shirt off...in under four minutes, I believe. Smart work.

Ohm is aging beautifully, just as I knew he would. It's nice to see him looking more and more facially masculine with maturity. A big plus for this series is that Nanon is nowhere in sight, so he won't be able to drag Ohm down with him.

Holding off to watch the rest of 1 and all of 2 tomorrow. Just wanted to say it's nice to be interested in a Thai show for the first time in almost three years. Maybe it will all go to hell in the first episode's next ten minutes, but for now I'm hopeful.

I'm one of those bitching about the vast crevasse between what this show started out as and what it has ended up being, but even I do not want to know ahead of time what is up for episode 12. But that's me.

Thing is, even if 12 went as I'd like, it would have to be so frenetically rushed that it would still be dissatisfying and off-the-charts implausible. Even so, I never want to know going in what's going to happen in any series or movie, other than in the most general sense. That's why "trigger warnings" and overly-detailed synopses annoy me.

I found five YT shorts dissing Maya. All were hilarious and spot on, in simply showing her for what she is by replaying scenes in which she is a total beeyatch. However, I never found a video that refers to her as a psychopath. Help? I do agree she's a psychopath though.

That said, I do understand why the singer making a hetero-themed MV for his song which originally accompanied a gay-themed show is not a good look. It's as if saying "I let my song be used for the fag show, but here's what I REALLY had in mind, so I wanted you to see this."

I'm sure the raging haters became incoherently hateful and vicious though, out of all proportion to what happened, which is what goes down on social media, right? That's why I stay off X and IG.

And saying "it's the same actor who played Kohei, but it's not really Kohei, it's another, straight character" is pretty lame. You can't establish a character with a specific actor in a show set to your music, then have him play a "different" character in an MV set to the same song and expect people to buy that BS.

I suppose the singer was trying to reach a wider, straight audience, but why then did he not also post a MV featuring Kohei/Taichi at the same time as the hetero one, rather than doing it only after he got slammed? Let's face it, he was distancing himself from the BL.

All of which is why I'd love to read what commenters and the singer had to say about this, so if you can help me out with translation, I'd be grateful.

You are correct, I did say that. Why does that matter? Everyone else in the world does not have to comport themselves the way I do, or make the choices I make, for me to empathize/sympathize with them. I am always interested/curious about why anyone does the things they do, just as I am about why daeyong turned to jelly in the presence of his smarmy ex.

I don't need to slap my moral choices onto anyone else. I do what I do, they do what they do. You might note I did not say that what is happening to daeyong could not possibly happen to me, because I, like him, am a human being with flaws and failings. I can conceive of myself, in a similar situation, giving way to a time-limited compulsion and then coming to regret it. This is called empathy.

I already explained above how labeling someone a "cheater" is an attempt to erase every other aspect of who they are and denounce them as "bad" based on what may be a brief lapse of judgment. Thus, I won't be repeating myself. People who scream "cheater!" at others are more interested in elevating themselves in their own estimation, and pretending they are of such firm moral fortitude that they could never, EVER, do the same thing.

Which is BS.

It broke my heart to reminded of that beautiful, intense, emotional, and passionate scene between Kohei and Taichi under the footbridge in a rainstorm early on. I was thrilled by that scene, impressed with the acting and direction, and expecting great things going forward...but then all of that faded away and we were left with a story about a rude, bitter, and nasty deaf girl with a side-story romance-to-bromance between two guys who parted ways, even as friends, for no coherent reason at all.

Had the series maintained the trajectory it was on for a couple episodes after the footbridge scene, I was thinking I'd be rating it a 9.5/10, maybe even a 10/10.

Alas, it was not to be.

Now I really want to see the video. And I have to disagree about the character. She was made so loathsome, annoying, and stagnant in her bitterness and abuse of others, the only people claiming to sympathize with her are doing so in the throes of what I have diagnosed as the "Bad Buddy Derangement Syndrome." They adore a show for delusional reasons, then their pro-show hysteria grows as a bulwark against the very justified dislike of the show. And that's how a BL that dropped the BL halfway through ends up with an absurd 8.6/10 rating.
