When one theme, in any medium, is interpreted by two different artists, there is going to be comparison and contrast. It's human nature. Why would you want it any other way? Are you saying you in no way compared the two versions of this show to each other?
Now if we can only get a BL to educate fujoshis about the fact that the top/bottom thing is not nearly as universal or rigid in real life as it is in these shows. lol 40% of gay men never have anal sex, a large portion of the other 60% only do it once in a while. And believe it or not, people, a lot of gay men are this thing called "versatile." :D We can and do flip-flop, which spices things up a lot! Also, BL boys rarely seem aware of BJs, HJs, frotting, and all sorts of other fun activities men can enjoy.
I'm wondering if the top/bottom obsession in BL came about because most BL writers were/are straight women, and of course, straight women can't "flip-flop" with their male partners unless a strap-on is brought into the picture. (google it) Straight folks are given just one option for intercourse, so perhaps limiting gay men to rigid top-bottom roles helps straight women relate to the whole thing.
That said, I get that the top/bottom trope can be useful as a tool for comedy, but BL writers are losing out by not incorporating mystery into who's going to do what to whom ahead of time, bringing versatility into the plot, and subverting the sissy/macho stereotypes. Those three possibilities bring a thousand new and more interesting plot lines into view.
Fair enough. I asked because I felt exactly the opposite about the characters. I found Hiro dull and wondered why Natsuo would be attracted to this person.

Best aspect: Natsuo's dazzling smile. 2nd best aspect: The love scene. It is one of the most romantic, sexy, and believable sex scenes in JBL world, not that there are many to choose from. The kissing was even semi-convincing. They never really dug into it, and it was more repeated pecks than real kissing, but hey, for a JBL, it's massive progress. The vibe between them was lovely, without the nasty reluctance you can feel oozing out of the screen when an actor does NOT want to do a dude-on-dude kiss. Even the background music was nice. 3rd best aspect: Flipping the biggest BL cliche of them all on its head. You'll know it when you see it.
Worst aspect: Tired tropes, cliches, and improbable coincidences out the whazoo. Far too many to bother listing here. 2nd, 3rd, and 4th worst aspects: It dragged a lot (six episodes would have tightened things up), all the hairstyling scenes were hilariously nonsensical, and characters repeatedly happened upon each other at crucial moments in Tokyo, the largest city in the world. lol It was a lot like walking around in my hometown of 12,000 people.
Special note: The crucial struggle/slap incident was embarrassingly unconvincing and fake.
So yeah, it was OK, but barely. If I had better options for a BL fix, I would have dropped it.

Hi, thanks for the recommendation, but I watched that one when it came out. I just checked, and found I left it a 4.5/10 rating. lol I remember being annoyed when, after they finally did the deed, the bottom turned into a timid, shrinking violet, all of a sudden turning away the top's advances like a giggling virgin. Such a tired cliche. I get annoyed easily. :D
Favorite character: Jeonsu, who made me laugh and is also very handsome. Good acting too. Second favorite character: Do Wan's lips. Damn... Also a good actor. I'd love to see more of both of these guys. JaeYul was fine, but a tad bland. I kept wondering what it was that Do Wan had been attracted to for so long. Not physically, but personality-wise. However, No Yun U's acting had me believing his feelings for JY were genuine, even if I couldn't see what he was seeing.
