Wow. This comment section reads like a nutjob Kpop fandom site. So, let me remind you, this is NOT a Kpop fandom site, though it IS nuts.
The comment section is for EVERYBODY'S opinions, negative as well as positive. To those of you trying to maintain this as your own, personal RL fan site on which you get to police comments...back off.
Nobody does crime thrillers better than Korea! I guess I was burned out on this type of film for a while; haven't watched one in at least six months. I'm glad this was my first one after my break.
I'm now a fan of Kang Ha Neul. I'll be checking his bio. Yoo Hai Jin is one in a million and always fun to watch, no matter what character he takes on. Definitely not a pretty boy, but his screen charisma and acting skills render that factor moot. Park Hae Joon has become another fave of mine.
Fun, exciting watch.
8.5/10
On edit: Turns out I HAVE seen Kang Ha Neul in six different movies, three of them in my top 30 list. I was already a fan and didn't know it. :)
Terrible. lol Surly, malnourished, chain-smoking teens, booze it up, stare at a river, steal motorcycles, repeat over and over for nearly two hours, the end.
"Hidden Gem" is a cliche on MDL, so how about "Buried Treasure" instead? That is exactly what this film is. I knew nothing about it. I don't even remember why I put it on my PTW list, or when, but I am thankful I did.
Iron Mask is a beautiful, gripping tale of tragedy, rage, resentment, and the ultimate power of forgiveness, both of oneself and others. I was pulled in immediately. The story is made all the more fascinating by what it taught me about Kendo, which serves as its framework and its potent metaphor.
I also knew nothing of its lead actor, Joo Jong Hyuk. I hope to see much more of him in the future. Great work.
Jae woo's a better man than me I would've crashed out 10x harder in there. Not showing that final hit was criminal.…
Great flick. To me, much more of a psychological/tragedy/sports drama than a thriller. Either way, fantastic surprise. I don't even remember why I put this on my PTW list, but I'm happy I did.
My gosh, why did I wait so long to watch this, and why have so few people paid it any attention? It is astonishing. I just finished. Too much to gush about right now to do it justice So great an amount of suppressed anger/frustration, powerfully played. The best part was seeing it released from so many characters in very individual ways. I spent the last 25 minutes or so in tears.
Devin Pan is remarkably beautiful. His features are fascinating to my artist's eye. Gifted actor, too. Huang Guan Zhi is another of my fave young actors, so it is great to see them both here.
The drummer/dancers are fab. The makeup spectacular.
omg...every day and every interaction would be a minefield, as we already saw how loaded the limited physical contact among them was.
The film failed for me most in this regard: I felt zero emotional/romantic energy among ANY of them. There is no chemistry. I did not believe the ace guy is "in love" with both of the other guys, or even one of them. lol So, given that, it didn't work.
It was a cop-out not to show us how that sexual situation went down. Before all the prudes here shriek, that doesn't mean anything explicit has to be shown. But to show NOTHING of how these three worked through one of the most challenging aspects of throuple-dom, especially when one of the three is ace, was a total fail.
The ace guy will be moving back out in a month. I hope they can remain friends.
I am all for people being in whatever combinations of sexualities/genders/intimacy they want to be in, but for the vast majority of humans, multiple-partner relationships are going to be fraught with jealousy, constant negotiation, hyper-vigilance, etc. Exhausting. Humans, especially males, are territorial af. A relationship among multiples, with ever-shifting boundaries, attractions, and vibes, is a train wreck waiting to happen.
It is a fallacy that polyamory is some kind of new thing. It's been around for centuries, and openly practiced among a small minority in modern times in the West since at least the 1960s.
All the above aside, this film just isn't well-written, directed, or acted.
It is revealing that you reported my comment for calling you a "penultimate psycho" to the mods, especially since I called you that after YOU called me an "absolute freak." So, now YOU have been reported. Grow up and stop tattling to the teacher, particularly since you started the name calling.
Once again, your English comprehension is subpar. I did not say that "minor means below the age of consent." My point was that their status as LEGAL minors has zero relevance to what is or is not appropriate for them to portray in front of a camera.. Then, I repeated, more than once, that I was not demanding explicit sexual acts to be portrayed, anyway. And AGAIN, you ignored what I wrote, made stuff up,, and then responded to it.
I already covered your lazy Internet slang thing. Your hilarious insistence that you used "literally" in the hundreds-of-years-old tradition of the word as an intensifier is pathetic.
Is there someone in this exchange who mentioned "kissing in public?" Why do you keep responding to voices in your head and things I didn't write? Oh, because without those things, you haven't a leg to stand on.
Ask the Ladyboys, openly gay men, and sex tourism workers in Bangkok all about how offended they are by "overtly sexual" Western culture. lol
Oh, and do stop "fetishizing" young gay men with your "obsession" with their romantic/sexual lives and the BL genre. It's best you stop watching.
Nice little short film. Sad that the only way they can allow themselves to express what they feel for each other is through violence in the boxing ring.
Benjamin Tsang is noticeably talented. I hope to see his career take off soon. The other actor is good too, and looks great in those tightie-whities. His little butt nicely cradled in them near the beginning of the flick is a highlight of the film.
I don’t understand what you mean. What is it that you wanted to see?
Yeah, well, we established in our earlier interactions that you lack reading comprehension. If you're not going to use your eyes and brain when watching dramas, maybe stop watching, or at least stop commenting, to spare the rest of us.
Since you're pretending not to remember me, does this sound familiar? "Block me, weirdo."
I don’t understand what you mean. What is it that you wanted to see?
No, Lucky Star (and yes, I remember who you are from past arguments), I haven't forgotten my nationality or theirs. I seek out Asian films/dramas because I LIKE that they're Asian. I get enough of Americans here.
Try to focus, OK? There are a lot of options between three feet apart and sitting "on each other's laps." They could be one foot or six inches apart, but they're not, they are THREE FEET apart, which is odd, even for straight friends. Secondly, it was indicated they were going to kiss, Lucky. KISS! In public! Only a spilled pudding prevented it, as we knew something would. Clearly, the characters were not afraid to kiss despite being three feet apart, or...something. It was stupid and makes no consistent sense. And yet, here you are, chuckling and snorting at your imagined wisdom. lol
Seems pretty racist to say JP folks don't like to "hug," Lucky. Seems like they have to hug when they make babies, right? I mean, we saw these two do something that sort of/kind of looked like awkward baby-making several episodes back, yes? Who said anything about hugging anyway?
I have seen PLENTY of straight couples in JP films holding hands while walking down a street or on campus, btw. On the other hand, I am well aware of the JP sense of decorum and spatial awareness, at least in public. I laughed earlier in this episode because there were two scenes in which something tender/warm was shared, and then immediately one or the other character involved said "OK, go take a bath," or "OK, I'm off to bed." They come close emotionally, then run screaming in the opposite direction, which sometimes makes me smile or laugh, and other times makes me sad for them.
And oh, is this REALLY a JP series made for JP people? I had no idea. Thanks for reminding me. I will try to "accept" that right away. lol
