If Gao had principles and scruples, he would have left the two but kept the friendship then trod his own path. The fact that he used LX as a screen for his insecurities (esp with XL whom LX doesn't even waste a second of attention except where he needed her to drive away ZX) and as a stepping stone for his greedy ambitions says a lot about his character. No sympathies from me.
Rewatch value of this drama is so damn high. I'm sure all have been doing that as we wait for part 2 to start. This is turning into my favorite C-drama this year.

I would have wanted the special eps to be longer but I'm already satisfied with that ending. Having said that, the wedding scene should have gone at the end of SP1 though. It's like they reincarnated in the mortal realm, found each other again, lived together, had Goudan and then as an afterthought they had that white wedding Yingyuan dreamed of lol

I binge-watched The Legendary Life of Queen Lau on yt after crying my eyes out again rewatching IS. That made me laugh and I really like Lamu Yang Zi, the FL. Not your usual female lead for a drama with her height and shape but she is so charming and her smile lights up the screen.
How satisfying is the ending to this on a scale of 1-10?
Depends on the person and your definition of a HE. For me this is a HE: the 3 realms and loved ones protected. The 2 main characters are together until the end and you can see the agarwood burner is still lit up with their love. Even without seeing the special episodes, those 2 will be reincarnated and they will receive a blessing for their ultimate sacrifice that saved the universe (this is xianxia after all).
Ok, maybe not a HE for Yumo but the story isn’t about him and we can imagine him one day opening up his heart to Zhaolan for his own HE.
The ending is still in keeping with the video spoilers that came out about YY and YD making the ultimate sacrifice for peace in the 3 realms. But the spoilers also say they will be reawakened after a hundred years, settle down in the mortal world, and have Goudan, who will become Yumo’s apprentice. Let’s keep our fingers crossed for the additional eps, 🤞🏼
I also don’t understand why people would downvote the drama after seeing the rest of the remaining eps. The tears I shed and satisfaction I received from the family reunion scene alone more than made up for the price I paid. I wouldn’t mind the extra episodes if Youku releases them but those last 3 episodes alone were fantastic and gave justice to the story.
Just binged the last three episodes and I’m so hooked by the direction of the story! I’ve got my birthday weekend coming and a Youku VIP account. Guess what I’ll be doing on my birthday? 😅😊😁
