I hope I don't get roasted for mentioning "The Untamed" in this post, haha, but I just watched a video that I just have to share. I love analyzing characters. Anyway, here it is:
It's one of many videos featuring the two characters, but the clips in this one were carefully chosen to create a perfect parallel between them. Interestingly, while this shows similarities between WKX and WWX on the surface, it actually reveals the stark difference between them on a closer look.
On WWX we see mischief, anger, and grief, while on WKX we see hatred, disdain, sadness, and yes, a good dose of evil and insanity. And look at the difference in how they taunt people to come and get the desired object. WWX seems angry and frustrated that the situation has to come to this, while WKX knows the greed as well as the cowardice in people's heart.
Gong Jun is truly an amazing actor. Whenever I watch him without the costumes in interviews and shows and then return to the drama, I'm always struck by the transformation from this shy, innocent guy to the confident, flirtatious gentleman or the crazy, evil Valley Master or the broken, tortured soul.
I stopped watching this because I was quite bothered by the way fans behaved in the comment section. I like reading…
The YouTube comment section is full of spoilers, so I'd avoid it. And I think it's a pity if you miss out on a great drama just because of bad behavior of a small number of toxic fans. Negativity doesn't deserve your attention. Life is too short to spend on negative people. Ignore them and just enjoy what you enjoy watching.
Yes. I was just gonna write about this. Everything Eddie Broke said is true. Both ZZS and WKX were not writed in…
This discussion about the difference between the novel and the drama version is so interesting. Thank you. I watched the drama first and now I'm currently reading the book.
Because the drama is my first experience of the characters, I'm more attached to this version. They are certainly more likeable and the scenes are more interesting and cute (for example, the first meeting of ZZS and GX, or the scene where ZZS/WKX pay for CWN's meal in the restaurant).
But now that I've read your discussion, I think I can appreciate the book's version of the characters more.
I loved this show and am craving more. Any recommendations? I’ve seen Untamed, Guardian, S.C.I. I like most…
Ancient Detective, Nirvana in Fire 1, Longest Day in Chang'an, Cross Fire, Sleuth of Ming Dynasty - all are great dramas that have elements of bromance.
Handsome Siblings, Nirvana in Fire 2 depicts great relationships between actual brothers.
I am curious if we can collect what scenes were improvized. I really love this type of stuff and would like to…
Episode 18. After they rolled down the hill and WKX pulls up ZZS, it was ZZH's idea that WKX failed the first time and had to try the second time. And then they would tease each other about the situation, but unfortunately the bantering was cut from the official cut.
If you're not a fan of wuxia and you dislike this drama, I think it's okay if you want to drop it. You're not…
So you're interested in the relationships! Then you're in for a treat! You'll see both relationships evolve as the bonds between the two couples deepen and they all fall more and more in love with their partners.
Episode 12 marks an important milestone in WKX and ZZS's relationship. Make sure you watch the special episode version because it includes an extended version of an iconic scene. You can also watch the scene here: https://youtu.be/zfGfi_zXiAY
Subsequent episodes will include revelations, confessions, life-and-death situations that I think you will enjoy. There will be memorable CP moments/scenes in every 2-3 episodes, so whenever you feel unmotivated, just remember that you'll find something worthwhile in the next 1 or 2 episodes.

- Episode 2, in their encounter at the peach blossom forest, ZZH added two things.
ZZS says "Elegant? Bastard! Young master, is there something wrong with your eyes?" ZZH suggested adding "bastard", maybe because at the time ZZS was trying out the boatman's crude language.
ZZS's parting line "He's so good at kissing ass" (literal translation "Even my fart smells good to you") is improvised by ZZH.
- episode 6, when WKX is whispering his answer about what he sees in his hallucination, ZZH suggested GJ opened his fan and covered them from the camera, adding a flirtatious note to the whisper.
- episode 27. The improvised part is when they asked each other, "Aren't you a capable man?" In the original take, this part doesn't exist. WKX simply helps ZZS up.
- episode 2. There's a picture of ZZH rolling up Ah Xiang's whip, which makes me wonder if WKX's rolling up her whip is actually ZZH's idea.
- episode 14. At the balcony when WKX begs ZZS to let YBY heal him, originally WKX is the one who leaves ZZS there, but after a conversation between ZZH and the director about ZZS's emotional arc, they decide it makes more sense if ZZS is the one who leaves WKX there.

I can say that episode 12 is where many people get truly hooked on this drama and where the drama's rating on Douban shot up 0.3 points (from 8.3 to 8.6 IIRC). See if that episode can interest you to continue watching.
