They left it open ended. In the book Doc did go to jail but then he was released and they ended up together. I guess they left it open ended to make it impactful on the question of Euthanasia.
Countless BLs are released every year, most of them with happy endings. God forbid they make 1 or 2 BL dramas with realistic stories with non happy endings and people start complaining immediately.
I think Mandate achieved what SMYM also tried to do which is plot heavy, minimal slow burn romance at the back…
Totally agree with you regarding the comparison between SMYM and Mandate. Also yess of course Akk was amazing in this drama. I'd love to see the dynamic between Nhong, Vee and Sun play out if there's a S2.
Mandate you were outstanding! This was one drama I looked forward to the most and they did not disappoint. Absolutely the BL drama of the year for me. I miss them already 😭😭 I want a season 2 like yesterday. I rated SPYM (another absolute fav of mine) a 9.5 because I felt it could be refined a bit more in some aspects but Mandate is a 10 for me. Boy is a favourite as usual for me but I also feel Ben did very well and also I have to mention Akk, really love him on screen always.
I'm halfway through and that 7.6 rating is preposterous. This deserves far more than that. I love Boy Pakorn always, and Ben is doing really well in this drama.
My life has been a roller coaster these past 2 months but I'm finally back and going to binge this series this weekend. I've been so looking forward to this drama, from the comments I am glad it turned out well. Looking forward to starting it tonight.

It was Boss, the scriptwriter confirmed it, when he saw Kan was becoming close to Thiu, he didn't like that, he thought that might make Kan stop doing Euthanasia. He planted the pen there to create a rift between Kan and Thiu and to stop Thiu from getting close to Kan
